Young Master Vance Has An Enchanting Wife!-Chapter 223: The Wedding
"I know, last time your leg got injured, but after it was sent to the hospital, there wasn’t a single wound. I already knew what Melanie said about you being cursed by the Dragon Insect was true."
"Then... don’t you find me terrifying?" This was the question May had been holding in her heart, wanting to ask. She wasn’t afraid of enduring some inhuman torment, but she feared Vincent would look at her like a monster.
Vincent heard her and smiled indulgently, pulling his petite wife into his embrace: "If I found you scary, I wouldn’t still be sleeping in the same bed with you. Silly girl, don’t overthink it. Everything will get better."
Cuddled in Vincent’s warm embrace, May’s heart couldn’t quite settle down. Whenever she thought of the old woman’s frightening laughter while cursing her with the Dragon Insect, she became anxious.
So far, the Dragon Insects have only brought her benefits like quick wound healing, increased strength, and even this face...
But she knew deep down that this wasn’t the full power of the Dragon Insect, nor was it the old woman’s true intention. The way that woman looked at her was like staring at a thousand-year-old enemy, sending chills up her spine. How could a person with such deep hatred be so kind-hearted to grant her such a beneficial Dragon Insect?
There must be an unknown threat hidden within, and it surely will be her ultimate downfall.
"I always feel that this Dragon Insect is too sinister. There must be some harm it carries, yet I can’t find that woman now and don’t know what to do." May sighed deeply, finally revealing her worries.
Vincent’s grip on May’s fingers tightened involuntarily. He knew she didn’t understand the dangers of the Dragon Insect, and since she didn’t know, he preferred to keep it that way.
"Don’t worry, I’ve already sent Jacob over to Crestwood to find someone to lift the curse for you. I’m sure we’ll have results soon." Vincent kissed May’s forehead and deliberately looked at his watch: "It’s about time; we should get going."
May sighed helplessly, and followed Vincent downstairs, where Jacob was already waiting with the car, ready to take them to the wedding venue.
Seeing Vincent look refreshed in front of him, Jacob quickly flattered him: "Young master slept well last night? You seem revitalized."
Thinking of the Imperial Concubine Chair from last night, Vincent’s face immediately fell. Was Jacob doing this on purpose? Bringing up the wrong topic on purpose?
"He changed the sleeping place last night, and he looks quite refreshed. Why don’t you just sleep on that Imperial Concubine Chair from now on? Leave the bed to me?" May covered her mouth, laughing mischievously.
Vincent quietly extended his hand and pinched May’s bottom hard, nearly causing her to jump up in pain: "You ambush me again, wait until tonight!"
Seeing this, Jacob thought that the young master must have waited alone again last night. To make up for his slip of the tongue, Jacob awkwardly said to Vincent and May: "Well, young master, young mistress, time is really tight now, we need to hurry."
Vincent glared at the talkative Jacob with annoyance and stormed out the door. May deliberately followed Jacob a bit behind Vincent as he walked away and quietly asked: ’Jacob, how much have you found out about resolving the Dragon Insect?’
Jacob thought he misheard, turned his head with a frightened expression to look at May. Seeing his gaze, May explained with a smile: "No need to hide from me, Vincent told me everything, you all knew from the start about the Dragon Insect on me, didn’t you?"
Jacob hesitated for a moment before nodding awkwardly to May: "Young mistress, it wasn’t our intention to hide it from you. The young master was afraid you’d be scared and unable to accept it, so we didn’t dare to tell you."
May glanced at Vincent a short distance away with a smile of understanding: "I know, I’m aware in my heart of Vincent’s kindness towards me."
Jacob gave a meaningful glance at May’s belly and advisingly said in a low voice: "For your sake and the child inside you, the young master has been through several dangerous situations. His feelings for you make even me envious."
A child?
May looked at Jacob in surprise, instinctively covering her belly: "The child inside me... is there a problem, isn’t there?"
Jacob had been casually remarking, not expecting May to be unaware of the Dragon Insect’s curse. Now, with May’s question, he realized his slip of the tongue.
"No, no, it’s nothing. I was just speaking casually. Anyway, the young master cares deeply for you and your child inside, so be good to him and don’t let him sleep outside so often." Jacob quickly used humor to brush off May’s concern.
May exclaimed in dissatisfaction: "When did I let him sleep outside? That Imperial Concubine Chair is in the bedroom, okay?" 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
"..." Well, there’s indeed no reasoning between men and women. Jacob finally understood why Vincent sometimes turned green from May’s antics. Marrying her really isn’t easy.
After the trio arrived at the Owens Family residence, the Owens Family’s butler promptly allowed Vincent’s car inside. With Maxwell lacking a father, the role of elder brother as a father fell to Vincent, who was to hold Maxwell’s hand and pass him to Adam while saying some blessing words.
Maxwell was already groomed backstage, waiting for Vincent. As May and Vincent entered the dressing room, Maxwell’s face dimmed as he noticed May.
Seeing Maxwell like this, May quickly whispered to Vincent: ’I think I should go out? Your sister feels uncomfortable around me, we shouldn’t disrupt her mood.’
Wanting everyone to be at ease on this happy day, Vincent nodded to May, asking Jacob to take her out.
After leaving the dressing room with Jacob, May first wandered the little garden but found it dull, so she simply settled into one of the chairs to rest.
Jacob didn’t dare leave May’s side, fearing that in such a crowd, someone might harm her.
Seeing Jacob stand by worriedly, May signaled him to sit down and rest a bit. Being a servant, Jacob had no place to sit in such a setting, so he just smiled at May, standing guard like a sturdy pine tree.
The butler, worried May would be bored, attentively brought her some small cakes. As May reached to take one, she noticed Jacob subtly signaling her not to, startling her enough to return them untouched.
