Young Master Vance Has An Enchanting Wife!-Chapter 213: Go Check on Melanie Morgan
As they left the hospital, the two of them had just reached the lobby and saw Melody White walking in with a thermos box, her eyes red.
Seeing Melody White, May Morgan stood still, waiting until Melody lowered her head and walked up to her, and she then finally saw Vincent Vance and May.
"Why, why are you here?" Melody stared at May and Vincent with shock, suddenly losing her composure as she pointed at May and shouted, "You wretched girl, haven’t you harmed my daughter enough? What are you doing here today? Are you here to see her looking like neither human nor ghost?"
May had been peacefully nurturing her pregnancy, forgetting that Melanie was still in the hospital and hadn’t faced legal punishment yet.
Calculating the time, it should be time for Melanie to have her sutures removed, and once those are gone, there’s no need for her to stay at the hospital, she should leave.
"Haven’t you handed Melanie over to Director Lawson for jail yet?" May looked up at Vincent, asking him seriously.
Vincent had been busy with Maxwell’s wedding in recent days, and thus had forgotten about Melanie. When May asked, he hurriedly assured her, "I’ve arranged for someone to handle it these days, won’t let this slip through."
Melody, hearing they were going to send her daughter to prison, broke down and cried in the lobby, "May, how can you be so ruthless? Your sister’s already been disfigured by you, with scars all over her face, looking like a ghost. She’s already like this, how can you still have the nerve to send her to jail? Have you no empathy?"
"Empathy? Hah, I’m merely letting her face legal consequences, how am I lacking empathy?" Thinking of her deceased grandmother, May gritted her teeth in anger, wishing she could personally deal with the enemy, "When she stabbed my grandmother to death, why didn’t you talk about empathy then? Do you know how tragically my grandmother died? And you still dare to ask me to let her go?"
"But, but she’s your sister, no matter what, she has learned her lesson, can’t you let her off?" Melody suddenly grabbed May’s clothes, pleading bitterly.
Those not knowing the inside story saw an elderly woman pleading pitifully with a young girl, assuming May was being overly aggressive, couldn’t help but gossip in whispers around them.
May glanced around, listening to the outsiders’ criticisms of her, but had no intention of backing down, "Melody White, don’t think you can make me let her go, a life for a life, debts paid with money. Since you didn’t teach your daughter this principle, let me teach her then."
May hadn’t planned to deal with Melanie, but seeing Melody’s relentless pressure, she couldn’t help but turn to head upstairs to confront Melanie.
Seeing May about to go upstairs, Melody hurriedly blocked May’s way, "May, let your sister go. I know you’re angry, but vent it on me, it has nothing to do with your sister. I’ll even kneel before you to make it right."
Melody only had one daughter, Melanie. If Melanie went to jail, her future would turn bleak. To save Melanie, she gritted her teeth, kneeling before May.
As soon as she knelt, the elevator doors behind her opened, with people coming out to witness a middle-aged woman kneeling to a young girl.
People gasped, and some quickly took out their phones, intent on recording the scene and sharing it online.
Vincent quickly signaled to their driver, who grabbed the mobile phone from a bystander and smashed it against the nearby wall without a word.
"What the heck, what are you doing, my phone!"
Seeing his phone shattered, the person angrily shouted at the driver.
Face darkening, the driver ordered all the onlookers, "Young Master Vance’s family matters, you all get lost!"
The crowd, recognizing the infamous Young Master Vance, turned pale with fright and quickly dispersed.
Melody saw everyone leaving automatically and understood that her kneeling had no further impact, she attempted to stand up without waiting for May’s response.
Vincent sneered, deliberately commenting to the driver, "Since Mrs. Morgan enjoys kneeling, let her continue for a while longer. We’ll let her stand when we come back."
"Yes!" The driver obliged, pressing Melody’s half-risen body back to the cold, hard floor, his strength nearly shattering her kneecaps.
Melody had initially relied on public pressure to coerce May and Vincent into releasing Melanie, but things didn’t go as expected. Vincent anticipated her tactics, purposefully keeping her kneeling.
Melody’s vision blurred with tears from the pain. With severe arthritis, she couldn’t stay kneeling for long without paying a grave physical toll. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
"Young Master Vance, I was wrong, really wrong, please don’t treat me like this, my legs will be ruined." Melody begged Vincent for mercy.
Vincent shot a cold glare at Melody, ignoring her pleas, as he took May’s hand and intended to leave.
May obstinately turned back to the elevator, "I need to see Melanie."
Vincent didn’t want May to visit Melanie, considering her disfigured state, worried that Melanie might lash out in madness.
"Best not go, I’ll have Jacob personally escort her to Crestwood for surrender shortly." Vincent tugged May, signaling her to leave with him.
Turning to Vincent, May glanced back at him as the elevator doors opened, she released Vincent’s hand without hesitation and got into the elevator. Vincent reluctantly followed her.
"You already disfigured her, can’t you just stop?" Vincent, all the way, pleaded with May to return home.
May shot a cold look at Vincent, "I’m aware she’s disfigured, but she deserved it."
Vincent shook his head in resignation, sighing, "A life for a life, true. Since she’s in your hands now, hand her to Director Lawson, but your actions do seem excessive."
"Excessive? When she ordered people to seize me, dragged me to the altar, and carved up my face, why didn’t you say she was cruel?" Recalling how Melanie, when she was tied up, slashed her face in a horrifying way, May wished she could dismantle Melanie piece by piece; disfiguration was a lenient punishment.
Vincent cast a meaningful glance at May’s face, "You’re unharmed now, Dragon Insect protected you; others aren’t so fortunate..."
