Chapter 205: Chapter 205: Sulking

At the moment he had someone investigate May Morgan and Victor Grant going to the hospital for a maternity check-up, his mind was practically in chaos. If he hadn’t known that May was under his watchful care and couldn’t possibly have something with Victor Grant, he really would have doubted whether the child in May’s belly was really his.

His own wife actually took another man to the hospital for a maternity check-up, and he didn’t have a clue.

If this matter got out, it would be a big disgrace outside, and he’d be laughed at for a lifetime.

May didn’t expect Vincent Vance to find out about her and Victor Grant’s visit to the hospital, but on second thought, what couldn’t such a capable person like Vincent uncover? Moreover, she and Victor made such a big scene at the hospital; it would be difficult not to be discovered.

Since he already knew, she had to think of a way to handle it.

"I-I suddenly had a bellyache halfway, and Victor was worried I’d have an accident, so he took me to the hospital to have a look..." May said, somewhat sheepishly, with her head lowered, quietly explaining to Vincent. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢

Vincent furrowed his brows as he looked at May, remaining silent. Since he had people investigate the hospital, how could he not know what happened there?

Vincent even questioned that doctor who argued with May, and he knew exactly what May and that doctor said. Yet this naïve girl still dared to lie to him?

The hand Vincent placed on May’s hip deliberately stroked slowly yet forcefully without uttering a single word, causing May’s body to tense up, rendering her speechless.

"Y-You don’t believe me?"

Seeing his attitude, he’s really going to hit me, right? May thought of the sound the belt made when hitting the table, and she was nearly traumatized.

She had forgotten that the man beside her was still a lion; he only restrained his sharpness because he was used to spoiling her. But a lion always remains a lion; the majesty and temper still exist.

"What do you think, do I believe you?" A sharp light flickered in Vincent’s eyes as he suddenly reached out to grip May’s jaw, forcing her to look up at his enraged face.

"Well, aren’t you good to me, bringing another man with you for the check-up of my own son? Do you want the whole world to laugh at me, Vincent Vance, and say I’ve been turned into a cuckold? Or that I’ve become a scapegoat?"

"What are you talking about? Nothing’s going on between Victor and me!" Hearing Vincent’s words, May also got anxious, quickly pushed him away, and jumped down from his thigh.

May, feeling both agitated and furious, held her stomach while arguing with Vincent: "Vincent, don’t slander me; you are the only man I’ve ever had in my life. I haven’t been with anyone else; why are you doubting me, doubting the child in my belly?"

Vincent suppressed the anger boiling inside him as he slowly stood up from the chair, his voice chillingly calm: "Is it me doubting you, or are your actions making others doubt? May, I admit you gave your first time to me, and that during this period, you haven’t been with any other men. But you went behind my back to find Victor Grant and also went to the hospital for a maternity check-up with him. What do you expect me to think?"

"Think whatever you want! If you don’t want this child, fine, I’ll go to the hospital and have it terminated right now, and then we’ll break up, and I’ll leave. How about that?"

May’s eyes reddened at once. She worked so hard to maintain her marriage with Vincent, trying her best not to entangle with any men, and yet he still doubted her?

If she hadn’t been constantly worried about the child’s health in her belly and Vincent refused to give her freedom, why else would she resort to asking Victor for help and have to go to the hospital for a maternity check-up this way?

Hearing May say she would terminate the child, Vincent slammed his hand on the nearby table in anger, scaring the surrounding servants so much that they didn’t dare to breathe.

Ever since the young mistress sneaked out, the young master had sulked at home all day. All Zenith Villa’s servants knew that when Vincent was sitting silently, he was at his angriest and scariest. So that day, the servants avoided him as much as possible, and if they couldn’t, they made sure not to cause any disturbances, fearing Vincent might take out his rage on them.

And now, with the young mistress’s refusal to admit her mistake, she directly provoked the young master’s internal fury. Isn’t this waiting for the world to end?

"Terminate my child? May, you’re really something, huh? You even dare to say such things? Bravo, well done!"

Heaven knows how much effort Vincent put in for this child. To protect their child, he almost got devoured by Poisonous Insect in Crestwood. Yet, all his painstaking efforts ended up worthless in this woman’s eyes.

The child belongs to Vincent, undoubtedly, but isn’t it also May’s? How cruel must this woman’s heart be, how much must she dislike the child’s father, to say such vicious words?

Vincent felt utterly defeated. After all his hard work to love this woman, to maintain this family, to protect his child, he only ended up with this kind of result?

May’s earlier words were just out of anger. If she truly didn’t care about this child, why would she be so troubled? Why would she go to such great lengths to visit the hospital to check on the child’s development?

"You’re the one not admitting the child is yours, remember? If that’s the case, then why let him be born to suffer? Unloved by the father, uncared for by the mother, his birth would be a torment."

Thinking about growing up with a father giving birth but not raising her, May’s eyes reddened instantly, teardrops falling one after another, a sight causing deep heartache.

"My father never acknowledged me as his child, so I was born unloved, uncared for by him. That kind of bittersweet feeling, how would you understand? Vincent, if you doubt the child in my belly, then I’ll abandon him, saving him from a miserable fate like mine."

May’s tears were Vincent’s Achilles’ heel, his fire extinguishing weapon. Seeing her cry, Vincent’s heart softened, melted.

No matter how fierce the anger, upon witnessing his beloved woman crying, he let it all go.

With a heavy sigh, Vincent, feeling a pang of guilt, reached out to pull May’s sobbing shoulders, drawing her back into his arms to comfort her.

"Stop crying, I never said I doubted whose child is in your belly. You only have me as a man; if it’s not mine, whose else could it be?"

May punched Vincent in protest, saying angrily: "How do you know you’re the only man in my life? I once had a thing with Adam Owens, and now I’m playing ambiguously with Victor Grant. How do you know you’re the only one?"

Vincent chuckled speechlessly, lowered his head to kiss her tear-stained face, and teasingly said: "Then why don’t I go to bed later to check and see if you’re still in original condition?"
