Young Master Vance Has An Enchanting Wife!-Chapter 192: Sleeping in Separate Rooms
In the end, as soon as he entered his dreams, he felt a pair of eerie eyes staring at him. The oppressive feeling from those eyes was overwhelming, and he couldn’t quite describe it, but it was terrifying, even suffocating.
Suddenly drenched in cold sweat, Vincent Vance was so frightened that he quickly opened his eyes. When he looked up, to his astonishment, he found that the eyes watching him from above in his dream belonged to May Morgan.
"Why... why aren’t you asleep yet?" Vincent asked May, looking at her with a face full of bewilderment.
May glared at him for a moment and suddenly asked, "Do you always think that I’m from the countryside, so I have no manners? If so, you can tell me directly, we..."
Before she could finish her sentence, Vincent, overwhelmed with frustration, loudly rebuked her, "What on earth are you thinking about? I never said that."
"You did; you told Melody White. You said that I have a low level of education and no manners. Yes, my education might be lacking, but whose fault is it that I’m currently on a break from school? If it weren’t for you, I might have graduated by now."
Frustrated, Vincent sat up on the bed and couldn’t help but argue with her, "Why did I ask you to take a break from your studies? Wasn’t it to protect you? It’s so dangerous outside; is it right for you to go out every day? What if Grandpa took you away?"
"Why did your grandpa target me? Isn’t it all because of you? If you hadn’t mentioned the Jade Pendant, how would he even know about my existence? My current situation is entirely your fault!"
"Alright, alright, it’s all my fault, okay? What do you want? Can you give me a break?"
Vincent was truly at his wit’s end with May’s unreasonable demands. It was supposed to be a simple matter, yet she turned it into this. Wasn’t his intention to do what’s best for her? Why did she always like to bring up old grievances, revisiting ancient and trivial matters?
"I’ve thought about it. Relying on others is unreliable; women must rely on themselves. Right now, I have no qualifications, no background. What if there’s a day when you get tired of me and dump me? Who will I cry to then? I might not even be able to support a child by myself."
"..."
Vincent was puzzled; is it true that pregnant women always let their imaginations run wild? What chaotic things were brewing in May’s mind? Was she too idle at home?
"What do you want to do?" Vincent asked her with a serious face, his voice turning cold.
May glared at him with defiance, unabashedly stating her terms, "I want to go back to school. You need to find someone to restore my academic status. I have only one year left before graduation; I can’t let you ruin it."
"You want a diploma? I’ll pull some strings and get one for you, wherever you want it from, but going out is impossible!"
Vincent easily saw through May’s thoughts and decisively rejected her demand.
"That’s fake; I don’t want a fake diploma. When searching for a job, people can expose me with a single sentence." Seeing that her plan failed, May deliberately threw a tantrum again.
Vincent couldn’t help but take a deep breath, guessing that if he didn’t settle things with May tonight, he probably wouldn’t sleep well.
But May’s goal was to have the freedom to come and go, and how could he ever consent to that?
"At most, I’ll get a tutor for you at home; I’ll figure out the diploma. That’s my bottom line."
Vincent smartly grabbed a pillow, turned around, and walked off the bed, planning to slip away.
He was truly tired and needed to sleep, but who could sleep beside such a pest? If this woman started to be irrational, she could lecture you for days on end, couldn’t she?
Seeing Vincent about to flee, May got so angry that she climbed off the bed herself, grabbing him to stop him from leaving. "Where are you going? You haven’t made things clear with me yet. I want to go to school; I need to have my own career."
"Careers be damned; your career is to make me comfortable, understood?"
Vincent rolled his eyes and glared at her speechlessly, saying, "Are you planning a revolution or something? With your IQ, you still want to start a career? First, get yourself familiar with the female virtues, then we’ll talk about how to serve your husband at night, alright?"
"Shameless! The only scenes you think about are of that kind. You and I are not on the same level!" May blushed and tried to distance herself from Vincent.
"Yeah, my mind is full of those kinds of scenes, so you better keep your distance, or else later you’ll be eating sausage!"
Vincent smirked as he playfully tapped May’s rosy little lips, smiling with great satisfaction, making May angrily release him at once. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
"Get lost! I don’t want to see you again!" Thinking of the scene where he held her to do such things, May’s face turned red down to her neck.
"You said it, goodnight, my dear wife!"
May’s "Get lost!" was precisely what Vincent had been hoping for. Anyway, he had already had his share of fun in the bathroom and released his pent-up energy, perfect for catching a good nap outside, perfect!
Vincent practically flew out holding his pillow. As he left, he didn’t forget to blow her a goodnight kiss, which infuriated May so much that she threw a pillow at him, but it only hit the closed door without even touching Vincent’s shadow.
Holding his pillow, Vincent hurried to the study to sleep. There was a small bed in the study, slightly cramped but fine for one person.
The key was, this time no one was eerily watching him like a ghost in the middle of the night.
Recalling May’s creepy eyes, Vincent shivered uncontrollably. This woman could be insanely scary when she got jealous.
After sleeping until naturally waking up, Vincent looked at the clear sky outside the study window and couldn’t help letting out a long breath of relief.
He had dodged a bullet and had a good sleep, but what about that troublesome girl now? Could she have stayed awake all night?
Giving it some thought, Vincent quickly tidied himself up and opened the door to find May in the bedroom.
May had been awake long before and knew that Vincent had slept in the study last night. In fact, she later tried to open the study door, but he had locked it from the inside, so she couldn’t get in.
Great, he even dared to sleep separately from her? Was this the prelude to getting a divorce?
May was so angry she hardly slept all night. The more she thought about the things Vincent said to Melody White, the angrier she got. The more she thought about it, the more wronged she felt.
To think she had been reflecting on herself all this time, wondering if she had been too harsh on Vincent and even planning to be nicer to him in the future, yet he went around saying those things about her outside. It’s simply unforgivable.
So while Vincent had a good night’s sleep, May scarcely slept at all.
Unable to sleep, she naturally kept an ear out for any movement from the study, so when she heard the study door open, she immediately opened her bedroom door and walked straight toward Vincent.
Vincent was just thinking of checking on May when he saw her walking towards him with an expressionless face, and he quickly greeted her with a smile, "Wife, did you sleep well last night?"
