Young Master Vance Has An Enchanting Wife!-Chapter 147: The Test
May Morgan looked up at him with a stern face: "What do you know? Butler Lawson is one of Arthur Vance’s men. If he really dies, how am I supposed to explain it to him? Besides, if Butler Lawson is dead, what persuasive power does this video tape have?"
Victor Grant crossed his arms and looked at May, then at the video tape in her hand: "Are you saying that recording this thing really has a purpose?"
May rolled her eyes dramatically and said speechlessly: ’Isn’t that obvious? Do you think I’m as idle and bored as you?’
After she finished speaking, she took the video tape and went upstairs, with Victor following behind her like a puppy.
Seeing Victor following her continuously, May couldn’t help but turn around and admonish him: ’Can you let me have some peace? I’m very tired!’
"No worries, I’m not tired. I’ll stay with you tonight. What if someone else shows up in the middle of the night?" Victor laughed cunningly.
May couldn’t help but give him the finger, her attitude cold: "Victor Grant, if you stick to me again, be careful I’ll break your fingers."
Alright, the way she broke Butler Lawson’s fingers so swiftly even made Victor feel a bit afraid. According to his experience, to do it so skillfully, whether female or male, there weren’t many.
"I have a question I’ve wanted to ask you. Once I ask, I’ll leave." Victor extended his long arm across the corridor, blocking May’s way into the room, and then asked her.
May looked up at him, frowned, and said: ’What question?’
"Remember the last time I saw you, you didn’t have this kind of strength, nor were you this... ruthless!" Victor didn’t want to use the word ruthless to describe May, but her performance just now was indeed surprising. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
"Yes, I am quite ruthless, especially to you men. If you don’t want me to kick you in the groin, then get out of my way!" May glared coldly at Victor and reached out to push him.
If you aren’t ruthless, you can’t stand firm; this society, she had thoroughly perceived it. If you don’t want to be oppressed, you have to oppress others.
Victor nimbly avoided May’s attack, remarking at her sarcastically with emotion: "I really don’t know how Vincent lives with a woman like you, treating you like a treasure!"
May threw him a vicious eye-roll and ridiculed him coldly: ’Of course, cold-blooded and heartless men like you wouldn’t know how to cherish a woman!’
May was not fond of Victor, partly because he once had a thing with her sister, and also because when Vincent took her to see Victor that time, Victor’s cold-bloodedness and heartlessness towards Melanie, though Melanie was asking for it, but Victor, as her lover, ditched Melanie for business reasons. How could May ever regard such a man?
Victor probably guessed she was still bitter about how he sold out Melanie back then, so he embarrassingly explained to May: ’I never had a relationship with your sister. The only time we were involved was because your husband set me up, okay?’
May didn’t want to argue about those matters with him; after all, who he slept with or how many women he had been with was none of her business.
"Do you need to report to me who you’re with? I couldn’t care less. Anyway, you’re not a good person. I just need to care if my man is pure!" May gave him another big eye-roll and turned away.
Victor, feeling a bit desperate after being mocked by May, couldn’t help but shout at her back to regain face: ’You think you’re so charming? I’m telling you, even if you crawled into my bed, I wouldn’t bother to look at you twice!’
"Fine, you’re a real man. Remember your words. If you want to come harass me again, find a way to castrate yourself first."
May turned back to give him the finger again, then slammed the bedroom door shut with a "bang."
After sending Victor away, May quickly dragged a chair to reinforce the door to prevent that bastard from bothering her in the middle of the night.
After doing so, she then turned to her computer in the bedroom, opened the video from the recorder, and carefully watched it.
Gazing at the video, May began contemplating how to handle it properly next.
Since Butler Lawson wasn’t going to die, he would certainly report back to Arthur Vance, and Arthur, such a ruthless person, definitely wouldn’t allow such a blemish to exist. He would surely find a way to get it.
Brazenly demanding it, Arthur probably wouldn’t dare. Although Vincent wasn’t back yet, at least Victor was here to watch over things.
Thinking of this, May suddenly felt some gratitude towards Victor outside, no matter what his intentions were, but his willingness to confront Arthur Vance head-on showed he was a man of courage, worthy of admiration.
The crucial problem now was how to handle this piece of evidence.
May turned to search for her phone, thrown by Victor onto the ground. Luckily, the ground was carpeted, and though the phone hit the wall, it only chipped a corner of the screen. After booting up, it was still usable, just a bit faulty.
After copying the video onto her phone, May made two copies, sending one to Vincent and the other to her good friend Monica Lambert.
There was no reply from Vincent after sent over, unclear whether he didn’t receive it or didn’t intend to respond. Monica Lambert, however, being a night owl, responded quickly to the message she sent.
However, she found the content confusing.
"May, what did you send me? I don’t understand it. Isn’t Arthur Vance your husband’s grandfather?" Monica asked May, puzzled.
Honestly, May really didn’t want Monica to get involved unless absolutely necessary, but since Vincent was Arthur Vance’s grandson, there might be times when he had no choice. Putting all the hope on him might leave her disappointed.
"Don’t worry about what it is. Just extract that video from your phone and store it on a USB drive. Don’t tell anyone about this unless I ask you personally. Otherwise, don’t admit you have it, understand?"
To prevent Monica from getting overly entangled, May sternly warned her.
Monica hesitated for a moment before quickly nodding in agreement: ’Okay, I’ll do as you say. But May, is this thing really important to you?’
"It is very important, but I can’t tell you the reason. Just remember to keep it safe and don’t tell anyone about it unless it’s me, got it?"
"Got it!" Listening to May, Monica agreed half-understandingly.
After hanging up the call with Monica, May glanced at her phone again. It had been over ten minutes since she sent the video to Vincent. Even if he was asleep, he couldn’t be so completely unaware, right?
