Young Master Vance Has An Enchanting Wife!-Chapter 143: Midnight Intruders
This woman is quite fierce. The first time she missed him was due to her lack of experience, but if she got her hands on the gun again, Victor Grant couldn’t guarantee that she wouldn’t shoot him dead.
"Since you’ve already paid the deposit, I’ll stay tonight to keep you company. Don’t worry, you just sleep; if anything happens, I’ll handle it!" Victor Grant was at least a man of principle. He took the money, turned, and left without any hesitation.
With such a bastard in the house, how could May Morgan possibly sleep? She just wanted to pay him to leave as soon as possible. After all, he himself was a thug, yet dared to act as a bodyguard under the guise of protecting against thugs? What a joke!
"You’ve got your money, so please, leave first. I’ll call you if anything happens!" May sighed helplessly, trying to politely ask Victor Grant to leave.
"That’s not going to work. Since I’ve taken the money, I have to do the job well, otherwise, how would the world speak of me, Victor Grant, do you think?"
Victor Grant was already at the door, ready to leave, but upon hearing May’s words, he turned back, pulled up a chair, and sat by the door, as if he was determined to guard May throughout the night, utterly shameless.
May was almost driven mad by him, wondering how this bastard could be so shameless.
"Fine, you can stay, but could you leave the room? It’s late at night, and we’re alone here. Are you trying to ruin my reputation?" May rolled her eyes exasperatedly, walked to the door, and pulled it open to signal Victor Grant to leave: "I’m warning you, I have a tendency to sleepwalk and might just commit murder in my sleep, you know."
"No worries, I’m a night owl and don’t sleep at night. If you sleepwalk, I’ll see it." Victor Grant crossed his arms and smirked but refused to budge from the door.
Damn, looks like I’ll be sleepless tonight.
May gave Victor Grant, who was full of rascal vibes, a hateful glare, turned around, and opened the door to leave: ’Fine, I won’t sleep either. I’ll go sit in the living room.’
As soon as May left, Victor Grant naturally couldn’t sit still. He stood up and followed her. May, annoyed by his tailing, stopped in the hallway, turned back, and glared at him fiercely: ’How can you be so boring? Do you find this interesting?’
"Oh yes, you’ll find out just how interesting it gets later."
Victor Grant gave a sly smile, took a glance at his phone, then said to May: "Let’s make a bet: if your night passes peacefully, I won’t take a dime of my million, how about that?" 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
"Aren’t you just spouting nonsense? With a bandit like you here, how can things be peaceful?"
Ignoring May’s complaints, Victor Grant kept his eyes on his phone’s screen, and started a countdown: "Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four..."
May frowned, puzzled by his actions, and was just about to speak when suddenly, a gunshot rang out from downstairs.
The sudden gunshot within the expansive villa stunned May: "Victor Grant, was that your man who fired?"
Victor Grant put away his phone, smiled, and handed the small silver gun from his pocket back to May: "My men aren’t that uncivilized."
May took the gun from him, looking at him warily: "Then where did the gunshot come from?"
As soon as the words left her mouth, several more gunshots echoed from downstairs, suggesting a firefight.
"I warned you, stay put and don’t move. If you start running around, I can’t protect you."
Victor Grant pushed May down to a crouch and quickly dashed towards the stairs.
With a shooting incident happening at her home, May couldn’t sit still. She quickly followed Victor down the stairs, but with more caution, keeping close to the corridor’s edge, mimicking Victor’s movements.
Victor moved swiftly, reaching the first floor in the blink of an eye, with May right behind him. The living room didn’t show much change since the Zenith Villa’s glass was bulletproof, rendering the bullets ineffective. However, outside in the yard, chaos had ensued long ago.
When Victor arrived, he had stationed many of his men outside the villa, so when the attackers came, they were ready to respond efficiently.
"See? You wanted to fight me? Without me, you’d be riddled with bullets by now!" Victor shouted provocatively at the bullet sounds outside the glass.
At this point, May couldn’t help but look at Victor Grant in a new light. Indeed, considering the situation outside, without Victor Grant’s presence tonight, the few rookie bodyguards outside the villa would be no match for these people.
"Thank you, really!" May, realizing her mistake, blushed and expressed her gratitude to Victor Grant.
Victor Grant gave May a proud look, scoffing: "Did I ask you for an apology? I want your husband to kneel and apologize to me!"
May rolled her eyes, thinking, I should kneel to you? Knowing you just teased me in the bedroom, it’s surprising he doesn’t want to castrate you himself.
The gunfire outside continued without showing signs of abating. Soon, some of Victor Grant’s men started struggling to hold up, one rushing in urgently to report: "Boss, they’re heavily armed outside, our guys have been hit several times."
"Call the police!" May, quick to react, ran to the living room phone to dial the police.
But Victor Grant quickly intercepted her hand, speaking coldly: "Are you kidding? Call the police? My men would be dragged in too!"
If the police were involved, the attackers would retreat immediately, but Victor Grant’s men were armed, and getting the police involved could create legal troubles.
May looked up at Victor, somewhat anxious, questioning him: "Then what should we do? Just sit around and wait to die?"
"Don’t worry, I’ve got a plan!" Victor Grant bit his lip, grabbed a gun from his subordinate, checked the bullets, and headed towards the villa’s front door.
Seeing him rush out like this, May couldn’t help but yell in concern: "Don’t go out! What if you get shot? It’s safer to call the police!"
"You even think about calling the cops, and I’ll fight you to the end today!" Victor, being loyal, wouldn’t involve the police, knowing it would drag his men down with them.
May, struck by his threat, was momentarily lost for what to do. By the time she came to her senses, Victor Grant and his men had vanished from her sight.
