Yandere Levelling in Her World-Chapter 137 - 138: Meeting old friends
Selene stared at Kyouka for a long second. Their eyes met, both frozen, both breathing unevenly as if neither believed the other was really standing there.
Then Selene suddenly rushed forward.
"You fucking bitch!"
She wrapped her arms around her and hugged her tightly. Her voice trembled against Kyouka's shoulder.
"Tough bastard. You really did not die even after all that."
Kyouka blinked in shock. Her arms slowly rose and returned the hug. She had not expected to see Selene again, not after everything.
"Thanks to some miracle, I survived," she whispered. "I am glad you are alive too, Selene."
Ren watched them for a moment. Then he felt two gazes settle on him. Curious, sharp, almost amused. He turned around.
Astrid was easy to recognize. The red hair, the confident posture, the smirk she always carried. But the woman standing beside her made him pause. She looked South Asian, slightly tall and muscular, with a massive greatsword resting casually beside her like it was part of her body.
Ren exhaled and walked toward Astrid.
"It is a surprise to see you here," he muttered. "Guess it was a lucky coincidence for all of us. Also, thank you for saving…"
His words trailed when he glanced back at his sister and Selene.
Kyouka and Selene finally separated. Kyouka walked toward Ren with her usual calm, though her voice wavered when she faced Astrid and the swordswoman.
"Leader," she said softly. "I am sorry. I let down our guild."
Astrid raised a brow and shrugged with a little laugh.
"You did not let down anything, girl. If you knew how many times I failed and how many times Nina here failed, you would stop saying nonsense. What you did is nothing compared to that. Besides, you fought until the end. You even burned yourself alive trying to protect the guild. You have no reason to apologize."
Nina nodded with a grin.
"It is nice to see you again, fresh blood. And your brother too. I heard so much about him from you."
Ren felt a little uncomfortable. He glanced around. There were a lot of women gathered here, far more than he expected.
"What are you two up to?" he asked Astrid.
Nina stood up immediately and moved closer to him. She leaned down slightly and gave him a teasing look.
"Is that any way for a man to talk to a woman?"
Kyouka stepped forward to shield Ren, but he gently raised his hand to stop her.
"Let me handle this."
He looked at Nina without backing away.
"I will talk to whoever I want. I did not use any profanity, so why are you acting tough? Did I say something to offend you?"
Nina laughed and looked at Astrid, then smirked.
"Does this man have ovaries? I have never seen a man so fierce. No wonder you hyped him up so much, Kyouka. Now I believe everything you said about your brother. He is a hard nut."
Astrid clapped her hands once and nodded.
"Don't mind her, she just like teasing people. We are gathering people to fight the Lan Jia imposter and her traitors."
Kyouka's expression grew tense. Ren glanced around again. The women here looked strong. Dangerous. Experienced. But even so…
He swallowed and forced himself to ask.
"You really think you can fight her?"
His mind repeated what he already knew. Lan Jia was not on the same level as anyone here. She was something else. Something twisted and terrifying. She should only be fought by someone like Luxy. Not by normal hunters, and definitely not by a small group.
Astrid noticed the doubt in his eyes, but she let it pass.
"For now, this is our story," she said. "So why do you not tell us yours. Why did you two want to come with me so badly?"
Kyouka lowered her head.
"Our mother was kidnapped by the traitors," she answered quietly. "We are trying to find her."
Nina blinked. Her smirk faded a little.
"If I am not mistaken, she is a scientist."
She glanced at Astrid. Astrid gave a small nod in return.
Nina sighed.
"In that case, follow me."
They walked down a cracked hall of an old building. The walls were burned. The floor was covered with dust and scraps of fallen metal. Whatever this place used to be, it had long lost its glory.
Kyouka hesitated.
"A lab?"
Selene came up beside her and nodded.
"The traitors used dozens of abandoned labs. They hide their main experiments by scattering hints everywhere."
Astrid pushed open a rusted door. The metal screeched loudly.
Inside the room, several scientists in white coats worked quietly. They did not even look up when the group entered. Their faces were pale and exhausted, like they had not slept in days but all of them looked like they were doing it because they wanted it.
In the center of the room stood a tube as tall as a person, filled with glowing blue liquid. Inside the tube was a baby no older than a few months.
Ren froze.
"What is this…"
Astrid stepped beside him.
"This is the key," she said. "The main key to whatever the traitors are trying to create."
Kyouka stared at the baby.
"A child… Why would they…"
Selene placed a hand on her shoulder.
"Whatever their goal is, it cannot be good."
Astrid crossed her arms.
"Your mother was probably kidnapped because they needed someone skilled. Someone clever enough to make their plan succeed."
Ren clenched his fist. His jaw tensed.
"So they are using our mother to… help with this thing?"
Nina leaned her greatsword against the floor and exhaled.
"Traitors have no morals. They would kidnap a thousand people if needed. They do not care about who gets hurt as long as their goals are met."
Astrid walked around the tube slowly.
"This child is not normal. Look closely."
Ren stepped closer. The baby floated peacefully, but the blue liquid around it pulsed rhythmically. Almost like it was breathing.
"What is wrong with it…" he whispered.
Astrid looked at him. "We don't know yet...we are trying to find out what's going on here."
Nina tapped the tube.
"And now that we have seen this, we need to decide what to do next."
Ren stepped back and took a slow breath.
"What is your plan?"
Astrid answered immediately.
"We plan to destroy every lab the traitors have and gather enough fighters to confront Lan Jia."
Kyouka tightened her grip on Ren's sleeve.
"Then we will help."
Ren looked down at her. Her eyes were full of determination. Pain too. But mostly determination.
"This is about our mother," she whispered. "We cannot back down."
Ren sighed.
"I know."
Nina tilted her head.
"You two are brave. I will give you that."
Selene smiled softly.
"And stubborn."
Astrid then turned to the scientists working in the room.
"Look they have chosen correct path! These are same traitors that were working under same Lan Jia that wanted to mislead Traitors real Lan Jia and I led."
Ren knew this meeting was for the best because now they were not alone anymore. He knew something was better than nothing.
"I won't let Lan Jia's efforts go to waste. I will remind traitors what they are ehre for."

Amanda was dragged across the hallway, her boots scraping on the floor. She kept shouting at the woman on the stage.
"I am the original! Not you!" she screamed toward Melinda.
Melinda looked at her with a stoic expression. Her eyes did not even flicker. She leaned in slightly and whispered, "I hope you are."
The door behind them closed as Amanda was pulled outside and shoved into a vehicle. It drove for a few minutes before suddenly stopping.
The door opened. The same black tactical gear wearing women grabbed her and pulled her out again. Amanda barely had time to look around before she was dragged toward a grand-looking building with tall windows and a cold atmosphere.
Inside, they passed through several corridors until they reached a wide hall filled with strange equipment. Machines hummed softly, screens flickered, and cables ran across the floor like veins.
Amanda stopped struggling. She stood still, eyes scanning everything.
"What are they trying to do with me now…" she muttered.
Then she froze. Not far away stood a familiar face.
"Misa…?"
She did not call out loudly. Misa also turned, her eyes widening for a brief moment. The two stared at each other silently.
After a long few seconds, both looked away as if the other did not matter.
Amanda frowned.
A woman in black tactical gear was standing right behind Misa, aim locked on her with a rifle.
So Misa was a prisoner too.
Amanda was suddenly shoved again. She stumbled into a small room with a glass door and hit the floor.
The door locked behind her.
A figure walked forward from the shadows. She wore tactical gear as well, fully covering her face. Her presence felt heavier than the others. Amanda guessed she was the leader.
The woman stopped right in front of the glass.
"Welcome, Key," she said.
Amanda glared. "Don't call me that."
"I am glad we finally found you," the leader continued.
Amanda could not see her expression, but her voice carried a strange excitement.
"You will soon be our salvation."
Amanda's heart thumped, but she forced her voice to remain steady.
"What are you planning to do with me?"
The woman tilted her head slightly, almost as if amused.
"You will see soon enough."
The room fell silent as the leader turned and walked away, leaving Amanda staring at the glass with a mix of confusion and growing anger.
