Xyrin Empire-Chapter 1379: Looking at Your Sis
This time I’ve spent almost four days in the Divine Realm, shorter than expected. First, all the tasks were completed, and secondly, Ice Dad and Ice Mom’s pressure was overwhelming—they seemed reasonable, but I couldn’t tell if they genuinely wanted to marry off their daughter quickly. Every day at Bingdisi’s house had me on edge, fearing that my innocence might carelessly be lost due to those quirky parents...
When I emerged from the teleportation gate and saw the familiar Great Temple of the Life Goddess, along with the wide road leading to Shadow City, I finally felt relieved: I’m finally home.
Bingdisi’s body kept following me mindlessly, while her soul was still stuck with mine for the time being. However, this stuck state was loosening significantly. Father God’s solution was effective; after isolating the Void’s assimilation effect, Bingdisi’s soul was rapidly regaining freedom. Now, she could establish some weak connection with her body and occasionally felt it was rejecting her. As for me, the most noticeable feeling of the separation process was clearly perceiving another will within my soul: a sign that our fused souls were soon becoming independent entities.
Perhaps within a day or two, Bingdisi will regain freedom.
During these four days in the Divine Realm, I took care of Bingdisi’s body according to Ice Dad’s instructions. Whatever his intentions were, I personally felt fine with this task: eating together, playing together, even sleeping together—it was a bit awkward, but I can proudly say I didn’t become a jerk. Even with a beautiful Sleeping Beauty beside me, I managed to restrain myself.
One important reason was Bingdisi herself supervising from the first-person perspective...
But I think even without the supervision, I wouldn’t have done anything outrageous. I always adhere to a principle: if the feelings aren’t there, I won’t take it even if it’s offered. I suspect that I do have some ambiguous feelings towards Bingdisi and don’t rule out, as Ice Mom said, Bingdisi herself might have some unnoticed affection. Perhaps we will eventually come together because of this, or maybe we’ll continue to enjoy our "little life" that’s only ours. Whatever the case, I have no intention of disrupting our current relationship before then.
You should know, only those who can’t get food see eating as heavenly, only those who can’t earn money see Heaven paved with money, only those who can’t find a partner see pursuing a girl as a blessing—if you don’t have pressing needs in these areas, then it’s time to consider higher-level matters like feelings and responsibility.
"What are you thinking about? Why aren’t you moving?" Bingdisi’s voice rang loudly. I stood in front of the temple portal for too long, and the impatient female hooligan couldn’t hold back any longer, "Let’s go, let’s go! We’re home, we’re home! Finally some relief!"
I couldn’t help but laugh: "...It’s my home, you know, think of what a blow that would be if your parents heard that?"
"Whatever, isn’t it okay to speak the truth? Being at my own home makes me even more nervous than at yours. It’s really something; you wouldn’t handle having parents with such strong combat powers—it drives you crazy. So, are we going? If I had legs, I’d definitely kick you."
"Alright, alright, my Lady Goddess..." I raised my hand in surrender and led Bingdisi’s body toward the mist of light.
A flash of white passed before my eyes, and I found myself standing before the majestic trunk of the World Tree, greeted by a reception on Temple Square: a circle of Imperial Soldiers and clergy, Sandora and Big Sister leading the family (excluding that little ghost) stood before me.
The first scene I saw was Lilina rushing towards me with tears, jumping and throwing herself at my neck three meters ahead: "Boss! I missed you so much... umph..." "Boom!"
Lilina was intercepted mid-air by Visca coming from the side, the cat-eyed little girl seemingly unaware she had knocked off a 1.09-meter-tall archbishop as she gleefully grabbed my arm, rubbing her face on it almost igniting sparks: "Brother, brother, welcome home... Well, there’s more I wanted to say, but I’ve forgotten, so it’s just this."
Seeing my arm emitting white smoke from her rubbing, I quickly withdrew my hand and pressed on her little head to calm Visca down, then went beside Lilina, who had been knocked several meters away. The fake Lolita was pretending to be seriously injured, groaning as if on her last breath, so I pulled her up and hugged her; she instantly revived at full capacity.
Coming home to see Lilina acting up or pretending to be dead is a regular occurrence—just a warm hug is all she needs.
"Bingdisi’s condition hasn’t recovered yet?"
Sandora stepped forward, pinching Bingdisi’s face which showed no reaction, her expression worried, "Even Father God couldn’t restore her?"
You see, though she’s usually boisterous, there’s a profound bond of millions of years between them—if something happened to Bingdisi, Sandora would definitely react.
"She’s in recovery," Bingdisi’s soul casually replied, "Father God placed a protective layer between the souls of Chen and I, allowing us to separate autonomously. Perhaps I’ll regain freedom in a day or two... hey, what are you doing! Let go of your sinful hands!"
Sandora mumbled while pulling her face into strange shapes, "Taking advantage of the last one or two days to have fun."
Even though she spoke rudely, Sandora obviously showed signs of relief; she genuinely worried Bingdisi couldn’t recover.
"Ahem, regarding the hometown world, I found considerable suspected targets in the Divine Realm database," I coughed twice to interrupt Sandora’s sinful hands, Lin Xue’s sinful red ink, and Qianqian’s sinful... other pair of hands. If left unchecked, they might dress Ice Sis like a monkey’s helper in thirty seconds; but my mention of the real business had them quiet down, "Though we’re not sure which one is the hometown world among them. The voyage log I brought is too general, Father God can only deduce that an Expeditionary Army had interacted with a similar universe long ago. We’ll send over new information as soon as Anses organizes it; a short-term team has been set up there to scrutinize suspected worlds continuously, sparing us from having to send people over again."
"Seems the challenge isn’t finding it but sorting out too many results, eh?" Sandora smiled, "It might take some time, but it’s good news."
"Enough, enough, can we not talk about work now? Ah Jun just got back—" Big Sister’s voice timely rang out as she stepped forward to pinched my cheeks and inspect me thoroughly, "Did you starve? Took care of yourself? Come home with Sister and change clothes, look at wearing this without changing! Hey, why do you smell fragrant..."
I raised my finger pointing to Ice Sis’ golden body beside me: "She’s lost all ability to think, now she just follows the highest instruction of staying close to me. Hanging around with such a humanoid air freshener, how could it not carry a scent?"
Qianqian curiously moved ten meters away with Ice Sis’ body, watching her sprint back to me, trying several times before clapping happily: "Really, really!"
She manages to play with anything!
Bingdisi was exhausted by now, too tired to stop anyone from messing with her golden body. She muttered half-deadly in the spiritual connection: "Once I’m resurrected... once I’m resurrected... once I..."
Home remained the same, nothing changed over four days except for possibly a new fridge at the corner and door: maybe Lin’s doing. The first thing I did upon returning home was to throw myself onto the sofa, sliding down in a slumped, prematurely aged but pleasant manner like a retired old man, and take a deep breath with satisfaction. This home isn’t luxurious, lacks the majestic grandeur of the Obsidian Palace or Father God Temple; it’s just a spacious house managed by a single ghost maid, yet it possesses everything I want, thus fulfilling my satisfaction.
Have you noticed I’ve become more poetic after returning from the Divine Realm?
"You’re just bored," Bingdisi said bluntly.
To prove I wasn’t just idling around, I took out my data terminal and began to review the reports of major events that have occurred in the Empire since I left Shadow City a few days ago.
Everything was proceeding smoothly and orderly. Without the Fallen Apostles causing trouble, the New Empire was able to run with an amazing level of stability and speed. The Heisen Tribe has already settled in their new homeland, and now, with the help of the Civilization Community and Tree Elves, they are learning the survival laws within the Imperial Dominions and how to adapt to their new home. For the Heisen people, who are used to hardship, their new homeland is so privileged that it takes some time to adjust to living comfortably: The new home’s resources are so abundant they are left speechless, and the routes for jumping to other universes are as convenient and safe as a bedroom door in their own house. The star map that even a Starship Captain could not explore fully in a lifetime is filled with allies. Despite the vast red-occupied territories of the Abyss Empire beyond the steel defenses, the Heisen people are delighted with their new life: They are really easy to satisfy.
The report mentioned that the Heisen people have already reorganized their military forces and are upgrading the enormous Heisen Fleet with the help of the Military Integration Department. Their scientists and researchers from all walks of life are also entering various levels of training departments specifically prepared for Vassal Races in batches, to learn enough knowledge to enable their civilization to leap several times. This knowledge has been carefully filtered and reorganized by the Military Integration Department, trying not to deal too much damage to the Heisen people’s inherent tech tree and their creative abilities as intelligent beings. Of course, the Heisen people’s own tech system will become dependent on the Empire for development years later, but at least they won’t become "high-tech Primitive People" who only know how to pull triggers and press buttons like the Clan of the Old Empire.
Another report mentioned the ancestors gradually regaining vitality and beginning to engage in work with great enthusiasm: Anses and others are now happily becoming official members of the research center. Although their main job is to be studied, they are still very happy. A researcher summarized in the report: The ancestors have an unusual passion for "taking responsibility and working hard." Although this motivation is less than the work enthusiasm generated by the Xyrin Apostle based on the core action guidelines, it is still moving, proving that only a Mortal Race like the ancestors is qualified to create the Xyrin Apostle.
The third report came from Taville, who happily announced that the new warship equipped with small dismantling generators and Special Shields had been assembled. A sample spaceship is waiting for inspection in the military Starport. This spaceship’s overall framework is not yet complete, but it performed meeting or exceeding expected performance in targeted tests. She invited Sandora and me to inspect the spaceship in the coming days. If it passes the inspection, Taville will produce a small batch for gradual improvement in actual combat.
The last report worth noting also came from Taville, a content I hadn’t seen in a few days:
Regarding the Deep Dive project.
A new deep-diving ship was completed three days ago and left the Kuiper Belt’s Other Space Starport. It is now being transported by a large barge to an Abyss Gate testing ground near the Imperial Border. The research team applied to conduct deep diving operations soon.
There was Sandora’s review mark on the report, indicating that Sandora had already seen this report, but she left a big "Pending" conclusion, indicating not to approve for the time being, and it’s unclear why.
The Deep Dive project is one of the New Empire’s most important research projects. Although it’s dangerous, Sandora and I both green-light any project applications as long as we avoid the easily problematic Red Moon Technology. I also couldn’t find anything in the report that warranted a "Pending" status. The new deep-diving ship was constructed under Sandora’s supervision, and the new cycle of the Deep Dive project was also cautious. The experimental universe had been evacuated, and the surrounding buffer zone had been established two months ago. Fallen Apostles were even less likely to cause trouble—again for safety, the new test area was moved far away from where the Fallen Apostles were active.
I found Sandora: She was in the kitchen watching Anwina make dinner, habitually causing some mischief. My arrival was a source of great joy for Little Ghost: "Master! Please persuade the hostess to leave! She’s about to finish off the soy sauce..."
With a temple pulsing in my head, I dragged Sandora out and asked her about the Deep Dive project.
"Oh, I knew you’d ask," Sandora said, licking the soy sauce off her lips with an anticipatory look, "The Deep Dive project—indeed, it’s great, but unfortunately Lin Xue saw something bad, and the project was suddenly halted because of her."
Cold sweat instantly ran down my back: From the start, the Deep Dive project seemed to everyone like a project equivalent to welding a detonator onto a light bulb. Everyone feared something might go wrong. To ensure safety, every time the Deep Dive team had a new action, we would have Lin Xue divine... or, use a more high-end term, predict it. Fortunately, everything went smoothly until now. But this time... What did the Miss see?
"Hard to say," Sandora shook her head, but not overly concerned. "You know, the Abyss Gate causes great interference, and what Lin Xue can see is limited. Lin Xue only said that an accidental event is lurking nearby, and if the deep-diving ship sets out now, it will be destroyed by the accident. However, she didn’t find any possibility of the accident affecting other universes. So now I have postponed the deep-diving ship’s departure to see when we can avoid this event line."
"Hmm, as long as it’s nothing major," I breathed a reluctant sigh of relief.
"Anyway, she...," Sandora’s eye twitched, and the topic turned to Bingdi...or rather, her body, "She’s practically clinging to you."
I jumped half a meter to the side, and Bingdi’s body followed suit, still maintaining a step-by-step distance, almost like a dumb shadow. I chuckled dryly, "Probably because the soul is about to return, and this body instinctively moves closer to its soul."
Sandora’s gaze flickered between Bingdis and me, finally grimacing with resignation, then headed back to the kitchen: "You two can manage; after all, Lin Xue’s keeping an eye on things."
Mere moments later, Anwina’s alarmed voice came from the kitchen: "Lady Hostess! That’s raw... don’t drink the vinegar... that’s the last bag of salt!"
It’s really nice, this lively, familiar home.
With a satisfied and relieved sigh, I wandered into the yard.
Dinner would be a bit late today; it was already moonlit now. In the clear night sky, still faintly tinged with gray-blue twilight, a crescent moon lazily dangled at the horizon, guarded by a handful of stars. I saw a large fluffy tail swaying back and forth on the porch—a home fox. She was sitting on the front step, holding a cup of hot tea, gazing a bit lost at the moon. Bathed in tranquil moonlight, the silly fox finally looked a bit like an actual "Fox Fairy."
Monsters have a special perception of moonlight; most become overly excited when the moon is full. But the full moon was still far off now, so the fox was probably just looking for something to do in the yard, maybe airing out her fur.
I walked up softly, and the fox’s ears twitched slightly, clearly hearing my footsteps: Indeed, such keen canine hearing. She even lightly wagged her tail to greet me. I went over and pinched her ear tip, "What are you looking at?"
"Your sister’s," the fox replied naturally, fishing a muffin out of the snack box beside her and offering it, "Want one? You can snack before dinner."
I took the muffin, thinking for a long moment before realizing she wasn’t cursing. I then sat beside her and joined her in looking up at my sister.
Visca (the Moon) had already risen halfway up the sky by then.
In the Divine Realm, awareness of the price of immortality—such things still lingered in the mind. But at this moment, under the peaceful moonlight, these troublesome emotions gradually drifted away. Regardless of what the future might bring, for now...
