Worldwide Awakening: My Soul Kinds Are Lost-Chapter 648: Let’s Play a Game_1
Meng Wuji returned to his survival base with his first love. He appeared cold and ruthless, but inwardly, he was as excited as a husky.
This time, he naturally had to make up for the regret of missing out.
He hadn't actually expected his first love to survive; he originally thought she must have turned into one of the ugly zombies.
At least, that's what happened to his ex-girlfriend. He had already called her, but there was no answer, so she had likely already become a zombie.
After settling his first love, he planned to start farming. But to his surprise, he suddenly discovered a figure in the planting area.
The person seemed to be checking the growth of his crops and also adjusting matters like sunlight and temperature.
"You're here. I've been waiting a long time," Wang Linchi glanced back at him and said. "The soil-grown crops are doing well, but the hydroponics are still a bit lacking, probably because you've been too busy lately."
"Who are you?" Meng Wuji asked warily, a pang of regret in his heart. He had been careless and hadn't brought his trusty Long knife, significantly diminishing his fighting ability.
What he really wanted to know was how the man had entered his survival base. Its defenses, both internal and external, were extremely stringent. It was virtually impossible for anyone other than him to enter or exit.
"Me? Well, how should I put it?" Wang Linchi pondered for a moment, then said, "I'm here to kill you."
Upon hearing these words, Meng Wuji's pupils contracted, and he unhesitatingly attacked first.
His abilities were perfect against zombies but useless against humans. However, that didn't matter. His evolution had not only triggered a transformation of his abilities but also significantly enhanced his physical conditioning and spiritual strength.
So he wasn't worried about being a drag. After all, without sufficient strength, how could he have used his abilities to kill Mutated Zombies?
His attack was aimed at Wang Linchi's vital points. Although he didn't know how the other party had gotten in, he had full confidence in his own capabilities.
The zombie crisis had just erupted, and the current survivors had not yet discovered the use of the Zombie Core, so it was impossible for them to become Evolvers. As a Level 3 Evolver, he was confident he could completely dominate.
But before these thoughts could fully form, Wang Linchi abruptly intercepted Meng Wuji's attack.
"Why can't you just let me finish?" Wang Linchi said helplessly.
Although Meng Wuji had failed to kill him in one blow, he was unscathed. Nevertheless, his eyes betrayed his apprehension.
He couldn't understand where this person had sprung from, possessing strength no less than his own as a Level 3 Evolver. It was simply inconceivable.
"If you're here to kill me, why bother with such hypocritical words?" Meng Wuji snorted coldly but didn't attack again. He actually suspected Wang Linchi might have come to cooperate with him.
The other party was likely not an Evolver. During their earlier exchange, he hadn't sensed the characteristic energetic presence of an Evolver from him.
Because after consuming a Zombie Core, one could instantly recognize the unique aura of an Evolver—that vibrant life force, so different from that of a zombie.
Ability Evolvers possessed this distinct aura from the very beginning. Physical Cultivators, however, only began to manifest it upon reaching Level 1. This was one of the reasons why Physical Cultivators had no Level 0.
That's why Meng Wuji had concluded that Wang Linchi was not an Evolver.
"How could that be? Everything I've said is from the heart," Wang Linchi replied, looking as if Meng Wuji had misunderstood him. However, he didn't deny that he was there to kill Meng Wuji.
Meng Wuji felt a bit suffocated hearing this. Does this guy have a screw loose?
"I want to play a game with you. How about we bet your life?" Wang Linchi said teasingly.
"Heh, if I kill you, I won't have to bet at all," Meng Wuji scoffed, a disdainful look on his face. The man seemed to be his equal, but he himself had three years of Experience surviving the zombie apocalypse. In terms of combat skills or general experience, he was confident he could crush the other party.
Moreover, this was his home turf. With multiple advantages, he didn't believe he could lose.
So, without any hesitation, he attacked once again. However, each attack was just shy of the mark, causing Meng Wuji's heart to gradually sink.
"Sigh, if you don't want to play, just say so. I can find someone else to play with. There's no need for all this fighting," Wang Linchi said nonchalantly.
By now, even if Meng Wuji were a complete idiot, he could see that Wang Linchi's strength far surpassed his own; he was clearly outmatched.
"You've lost," Wang Linchi stated. "You can die now."
"If I lose, I can tell you a secret." Wang Linchi flashed behind Meng Wuji and whispered, "The secret of your reincarnation."
The word 'reincarnation' struck Meng Wuji's ears like a clap of thunder. He had never, ever imagined that his secret reincarnation would be known by someone else.
Outwardly, however, he remained impassive, a smile playing on his lips. "Heh, interesting. I didn't expect you to be a Reincarnator."
"No wonder you were able to sneak into my base without a trace."
At this moment, he absolutely could not lose his composure, nor could he admit it. Instead, he had to turn the accusation back on his opponent.
Hearing this, Wang Linchi's expression became quite colorful. This kid is truly something else; anyone else would probably be panicking right now.
"You're right. It's just the two of us here. It's fine to deceive others, but don't deceive yourself."
"I've laid out my condition. So, are you playing this game or not?" Wang Linchi reached out and stopped Meng Wuji's increasingly fierce attacks.
Meng Wuji pulled back, his expression grave. "The stakes of the game need to change. If I lose, I die. If you lose, you die too."
"Aren't you thinking a bit too wishfully? I also offered information about reincarnation," Wang Linchi said, shaking his head. He really is dreaming.
"I can raise the stakes!" Meng Wuji knew only one thing: Wang Linchi had to die. The man truly knew he was a Reincarnator.
This was something he could not tolerate.
Actually, guessing that Meng Wuji was a Reincarnator wasn't particularly difficult. One merely needed to gather enough information, compare the changes in him before and after, and note various illogical occurrences that made him seem like an Unpredicted Prophet. Using these as clues for inference, one could arrive at 'Reincarnator' as a possible conclusion.
Other than Wang Linchi, however, no one cared about Meng Wuji in the slightest.
In Wang Linchi's eyes, Meng Wuji was a pivotal figure in this world. However, in the eyes of the general public, Meng Wuji was just one among many—at best, someone with good Luck who had won the lottery and achieved financial freedom, after which they wouldn't pay him any more attention.
"What collateral do you have?" Wang Linchi sized up Meng Wuji, as if trying to find something of value in him, then added, "Don't say Zombie Cores or Evolvers; I already know about those."
"It's not that. It's the major trends and direction of events for the next three years," Meng Wuji said, finally speaking after taking a deep breath.
This was tantamount to admitting he was a Reincarnator. But as long as he killed the other party, it wouldn't be an issue.
"I'm not particularly interested in that. But since you've raised the stakes, I'll match you. I'll wager this life of mine as well," Wang Linchi also said.
He was betting his current life. If he died and came back to life, then his next life wouldn't have much to do with him.
As someone proficient in justifiable division, his self of one moment had no relation to his self of the next, let alone using lives as a means of differentiation.
"Tell me, what is your game?" Meng Wuji asked.
"Let's bet on whether you can become a Level 4 Evolver within three days," Wang Linchi stated. "I bet you can't."
Meng Wuji was rendered speechless by Wang Linchi's words. Isn't that just stating the obvious?
"Don't worry. Within these three days, I'll control a zombie tide. It will contain at least one thousand Level 3 Mutated Zombies." Wang Linchi chuckled, indicating he wouldn't be *that* shameless.
Meng Wuji's expression turned solemn. "Alright, it's a deal!"
To be able to control a zombie tide, and even bring at least one thousand Level 3 Mutated Zombies that don't even exist yet... who on earth is this person?
"Let me see... Let's start at eight o'clock tomorrow morning. Get ready, and don't oversleep." Wang Linchi's figure gradually dimmed and dispersed.
"What is your purpose?" Meng Wuji quickly asked before the other party disappeared completely.
"For fun, of course. What else could it be?" As Wang Linchi's voice faded, he vanished completely.
Only Meng Wuji remained in the base's planting area, his heart filled with unease. Wang Linchi was simply too mysterious and seemed to know many hidden truths.
I need to prepare. I absolutely must win this time!
