Chapter 95: Back At The Estate

The nearly ten hours flight was smooth and enjoyable. James and Leslie spent the free time playing games, watching movies, reading books and listening to songs. This was the same for Patty, except for the game and music.

They didn’t allow themselves an opportunity to get bored. When they got tired, they slept and when they got hungry, they called for the flight attendants to have the chef make something for them.

During the flight, James also tried to confirm if his senses were improved by the increase of his Intelligence stat.

He first tried with his sense of hearing, focusing his concentration and trying to pick out some certain sounds. But even after a few minutes of him trying as hard as he could, he didn’t notice anything different.

Unlike other aircrafts that their interior are usually noisy even at high altitudes, private jets — especially the Gulfstream G700 — interior are always quiet to make the flight comfortable. ƒreewebɳovel.com

If it wasn’t for that, James would have attributed the reason why he wasn’t able to notice anything to the noisy interior.

Also, now that he thought of it, he heard Leslie’s low voice when they were standing on the private tarmac — a very open place — and in an airport. If so, then why can’t he pinpoint the sounds he wants.

James thought about it but he couldn’t find an answer to his question. He could only sigh, as he gave up.

He didn’t bother with the other senses. The reason for that is because hearing is most sensitive and most complicated of all the senses.

But he also understood that if those senses improves, he will notice immediately as they are more obvious than hearing.

Sighing, James gave up and decided to enjoy the flight.

Almost ten hours later, the aircraft touched down with a soft thud, and slowly taxied to a stop, and one of the flight attendants opened the cabin door.

James stood up from his seat and did a light stretch, and stepped out of the aircraft, with Patty, Leslie, Mr Harrington and his team following behind him.

Stepping out of that aircraft, their skins were hit by the cool night breeze. They nearly got goosebumps due to how cool the breeze blowing against their skin.

"It’s good to be back," James said with a smile, as he took a deep breath of the fresh air of Los Angeles.

He climbed down the boarding stairs and walked to the two cars, that were waiting for them, with their chauffeur standing beside them.

The cars and chauffeurs were the same ones that had picked them up from the mansion, and James couldn’t help but smile when he saw them.

"Good evening, Mr Zolomon. How was your flight?" The chauffeur of the second car greeted, as he opened the backseat door.

"It was wonderful. Thanks," James said, as he got into the car.

Patty and Leslie also took their seats and the chauffeur got into his position, and started the car, and started driving towards Bel Air.

The second car drove off towards the location of Mr Harrington’s house, and also that of his team.

Twenty minutes later, the chauffeur parked in front of the massive gate of the mansion, and got out of to open the door for them.

"Thank you," James said, as he got out of the car.

He turned to look at the gate and smiled. He walked towards towards it and pressed his finger on a button on the gate security camera, and he heard a beep, indicating that it’s already unlocked.

With the gate unlocked, James opened the wicket and turned to collect his bag from Patty, before stepping into estate.

"Wow. We’ve only lived here for two weeks but I already missed it so much," Leslie said with a smile, as she passed through the wicket.

"Me too. I guess," Patty smiled.

James didn’t say anything but the smile on his face, and his expression was saying the same thing as them.

"Let’s go inside quickly before we catch a cold," James said, and walked to the mansion.

Patty and Leslie nodded and followed behind him.

Arriving at the door, James opened it and walked into the mansion. He immediately made his way to his room, to rest, as he was feeling slightly tired.

Travelling such long distance was tiring but he felt slightly better because it was a private jet. He knew that he will be feeling worst if it was a commercial plane.

"My first flight was on a private jet." He smiled to himself, as he thought of the luxury he enjoyed.

James felt appreciative to the charter service provider company for giving him such presidential level treatment.

"If I don’t have a private jet of my own by the time I need to travel again, I will use their services."

Walking into his room, he threw his bag towards his bed, took off his clothes and walked into the bathroom.

A few minutes later, he was out. He put on his sleepwear and got into his cozy, king-sized bed.

The duvet covered him in a familiar warmth and he smiled, as he stared at the ceiling.

He immediately thought of something and he picked up his phone to check something. Due to how busy he was during the flight, he hadn’t bothered to check if he got a reply from the private investigator, and that’s what he intends to do.

"Ohhh... He already sent a reply," James said, when he saw a reply from Gregor.

He clicked on the message and started reading its content.

A few minutes later, he sighed and set his phone down on the bedside table.

According to the message from the private investigator, the reason why he hasn’t contacted James was because he was told by his boss — Mr Harrington — no to, and because of the trip.

James wouldn’t say that he doesn’t understand Mr Harrington’s reasoning but it didn’t matter anymore. Nowz that he’s back and Gregor already have the needed information, they can proceed to the next step.

He will also be meeting with Gregor tomorrow to discuss on the information he got from his investigation.

James also remembered something — he hasn’t paid Mr Harrington and his team their fees.

"I will ask Patty to call him tomorrow and ask him how much is their total fee," he said, as he snuggled into his bed.

"After the meeting with Gregor, I will also need to see Ralph to discuss on my plan," he muttered to himself, as he slowly drifted off to sleep.
