Chapter 90: Second Mission Completed [Edited]

CityGroup Headquarters, New York, New York.

Inside the office of the Managing Director, Head of Prime Brokerage Risk, two men could be seen seated, as a slightly solemn atmosphere filled the room.

One the men was seated behind the desk and another was seated on a visitor’s chair.

"Are you sure about this, Fletcher," the man seated behind the desk, asked with a face filled with curiousity.

"Yes. I also thought that the person from the Prime Brokerage Sales Desk was joking when she said that a kid of 21 years of age wanted to open a prime account, but it was real. And right now, that account has a stock portfolio worth $457 million," the man called Fletcher, replied.

The person behind the desk, tapped the desk continuously, lost in his thoughts.

"Has the account been assigned a portfolio manager," he asked, after a brief moment of silence.

"Yes," Fletcher replied.

"Who?"

"Otis."

"Good. An account worth almost half a billion deserves someone like Otis." the man behind the desk nodded in approval.

A brief silence filled the office for a few seconds, before it was broken by a sigh from Fletcher.

"Eric, I think either of us should call this person. I have a feeling that he might pull out his funds soon," Fletcher said, as he leaned back into the chair, feeling very tired.

For the past couple of minutes, he has been trying to wrap his head around how the hell a young man of 21 years, — a kid — called James Zolomon, was able to get hundreds of millions of dollars in funds to trade.

It would had been easy if he came from one of the reputable families in the world. But his last name doesn’t relate him to any of those families. Which means in other words, he’s new money and the money is legal.

At least for now, it is. He knew that if the money was illegal, there’s no way that it would be in a bank account in the first place, and the large scale transaction he just did would had flagged the money.

"If your gut tells you that we should call him, then we will do that," the man seated behind the desk, Eric, said and picked up his phone.

He opened James’ folder that was on his desk and copied his contact. After that, he immediately put a call through to him.

The calm went through and it indicated that it was ringing. It was picked after the third ring.

"Hello, Mr James. I’m Otis, the MD, Head of Prime Brokerage Risk, CityGroup. I’m calling because of your account. We want to know if there’s anything we can help you with?" Otis said, putting on his best customer friendly voice.

Meanwhile, James was done viewing his Prime Brokerage Account, and he was still slightly in shock from the huge amount his portfolio is worth, but the sound of his phone ringing made him snap out of it.

He took a look at the caller ID and he saw that it was an unknown number. He wanted to ignore the call but something told him to pick up, and he did.

Picking up the call, he heard a professional voice on the other end.

"Mr. Zolomon? This is Eric Carradine, Managing Director and Head of Prime Brokerage Risk at CityGroup..."

James’ brows raised slightly when he heard the introduction of the man on the other end.

From CityGroup and the MD himself? james immediately understood what this means. His stuck portfolio has made CityGroup to place him as one of their priority clients.

And he was very much aware that they are very curious to know how a no name like him has so much in his possession.

"Thanks for calling, Mr. Eric. Actually, there are a few things I was curious about," James replied, with his voice shifting into a more formal tone.

"I’ve been thinking about structuring some of the assets under an LLC. Just a holding entity — nothing complicated. I was wondering: Can an LLC open a Prime Brokerage Account through CityGroup? And if yes, how complex would the asset transfer process be?" He asked.

Eric responded without hesitation.

"Yes, absolutely. We work with LLCs, family offices, holding entities — even international structures. As long as documentation is in order, the onboarding process for an entity isn’t difficult.

It just requires a couple of extra compliance layers. And transferring your current portfolio into that structure is a standard procedure. We can assign a dedicated team for it."

James nodded to himself.

Perfect. Paramount Global Holdings, his newly established offshore trust, can be used to create subsidiaries or LLCs to legally shield and manage his assets.

And after he transfer his portfolio to the LLC’s account, they will be the one managing it for him.

James asked a few more follow-up questions — about leverage offerings, pre-market trading access, dividends payments, margin handling within entity accountsband Eric answered them perfectly, clearing any confusion he had.

Once everything was clear, James ended the call politely, and the line clicked off.

He dropped the phone beside him, lay back on the bed, and stared at the ceiling.

The thought that CityGroup called him still lingered in his mind. And the fact that it wasn’t a rep, or a relationship manager, but the MD that called, made him smile proudly.

He understood that this means that the financial world is becoming aware of his existence and he will soon be coming onto radar of some of the biggest names, but he wasn’t worried.

Should he be? No, because he has nothing to fear. They say that a weak man’s wealth attract disaster for himself, but that doesn’t relate to James.

James is confident that as long as he doesn’t go around looking for trouble, the chances of trouble coming to look for him are more than halved.

Of course he wasn’t naive enough to think that trouble won’t come looking for him at all, but he was confident that if it comes, he can handle it.

Arrogance? Maybe but James isn’t going to roll over and lap up to anyone. No matter who it is. Even if it’s the POTUS.

And whether they knew where his money came from or not, it didn’t matter to him. Because just as money brings problem, it also solves problems.

There’s a saying that goes: "If you say money can’t buy happiness, it’s because you don’t have enough money."

And another saying that goes" "No matter how bad a problem is, throwing money at it will always solve at least 70% of it."

Who said those? Who cares?

Now that James thought about it, he has never thanked the system for everything it has done for him.

"Thank you, system," he said, with a bright smile.

As if in response, the following moment, a system notification popped up in his retina.

[Mission: Stable Source Of Income has been completed. Reward has been given. +1,000 system points, +5 Charisma.

You also completed the hidden objective. Reward has been given. +2,000 system points, +2 Intelligence.]

James was slightly taken aback when he saw the notification, and it finally hit him. Today makes it two months since he was given the mission.

Due to how much he was enjoying his vacation with Patty and Leslie, he had actually forgotten about the mission.

Even when he checked his Info Screen in the car, he didn’t pay attention to that part, as his eyes was on the Financial Status section.

But James wasn’t allowed to be shocked for too long as he felt a slight headache coming on.

He knew that the reason for this was probably due to the increase in his Intelligence stat.

He gritted his teeth and clenched his fist tightly, bracing himself for what’s to come, but the headache stopped as quickly as he felt it coming on. It was slight but it didn’t last more than a second.

James sighed in relief when he saw this. He immediately tried concentrating his mind, to check if there’s any difference from the increase of his Intelligence stat.

But he was unable to do that as he felt his body becoming sweaty and slightly sticky. He knew what was happening and that it was related to the increase in his Charisma stat.

He didn’t waste time as he quickly rushed into the bathroom to wash off the sweat and stickiness.
