Wizard: I Have a Cultivation System-Chapter 88 - 85: Breakthrough, Qi Refining Realm
Murphy was at his desk handling some affairs for the Baron’s Domain when his ears suddenly twitched, and he looked up in surprise.
The door to the study opened without a sound, and a figure walked toward him.
It was Cecilia.
A dark green velvet long dress accentuated her burgeoning, graceful figure. Her golden hair was meticulously braided into an elegant bun, with a few stray strands hanging by her ears, making her fair skin seem all the more translucent.
But what was most striking was the pink mist swirling around her. The mist flowed about her as if it had a life of its own, and even her azure eyes faintly glowed with a pinkish halo.
Alarm bells went off in Murphy’s head.
’When did Cecilia get here?’
’How could she have possibly approached the study without making a sound?’
’Was it that pink mist?’
’And what kind of Supernatural Power is this?’
A series of questions flashed through his mind.
"You know me?" Cecilia asked softly, her voice sounding particularly ethereal against the backdrop of the pink mist.
Murphy remained silent, extending his senses to probe the situation outside the door.
He could feel that something was amiss, but he couldn’t put his finger on what it was.
"Then again," Cecilia’s voice carried a hint of wistfulness, "you’re so smart, you should have recognized me seven years ago."
Finding no opening, Murphy could only ask, "How did you get in?"
"You didn’t go to the courtyard today." Cecilia didn’t answer his question, instead bringing up another topic.
Murphy felt the atmosphere growing increasingly strange.
It was far too unusual for Cecilia to be able to approach the study without making a sound.
He secretly assessed his odds of winning a fight, but found that he wasn’t confident at all.
Finally, he answered cautiously, "I was too busy, so..."
"So you do remember," Cecilia interrupted. "But you didn’t go. You must have known I was coming today."
An idea struck Murphy, and he quickly picked up the research materials on his desk. "I’m conducting research on the directional properties of lodestones. This experiment is critical—I have to observe the deflection angle of a magnetic needle in different locations around the castle for three consecutive days. Any interruption would ruin the continuity of the data." He spoke while carefully observing Cecilia’s reaction. "I had intended to go, but the research is important. I got caught up in it and lost track of time." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
Cecilia listened quietly. It was as if she had returned to that afternoon seven years ago. The image of the scholar, engrossed in explaining the mysteries of Nature, gradually superimposed itself onto the unfamiliar, black-haired figure before her.
"I believe you," she said softly.
Murphy breathed a silent sigh of relief, but the doubts in his heart hadn’t lessened in the slightest.
’This sudden appearance of Supernatural Power is making me uneasy. Why are so many strange phenomena appearing in the Northern Territory?’
’Is it because of Option Two?’
’Could the Church Court really be completely unaware of this?’
He tried a placating tone, as if speaking to a child. "Alright now, can you tell me how you got in?"
"I am not a child," Cecilia’s tone suddenly turned serious. "I’m already thirteen. I can get married."
’Only thirteen and not a child?’ Murphy grumbled internally, but outwardly he corrected himself, "Right, you’re not a child."
He switched to a more level tone. "In that case, could you tell me how you got here?"
Cecilia didn’t answer directly, asking instead, "Where were you twelve years ago?"
Murphy’s heart skipped a beat. "What do you mean?"
A pink light flashed in Cecilia’s eyes. "Twelve years ago... were you Sylvan?"
Murphy was utterly shocked. He never expected his identity to be exposed so directly.
’Then again,’ he thought, ’my Thousand-Faced Illusion has only reached the Initial Glimpse realm. It’s only natural that it can’t be completely concealed from a more powerful Supernatural Power.’
Considering Sylvan was the man who had murdered her father, he immediately denied it. "No."
The pink light in Cecilia’s eyes flickered again. "I believe you’re not."
Murphy was stunned. ’She believed me that easily?’
’Without even asking for proof?’
Just then, he noticed something odd about Cecilia’s movements. "Wait, what are you doing?"
Cecilia’s cheeks flushed slightly as her hand reached out in a peculiar way to caress his cheek.
It wasn’t that her movement was too fast to dodge. Rather, in that instant, Murphy’s mind seemed to be affected by some kind of power, and he fell into a trance, unable to react.
The pink light coiled around him like a living thing, warm to the touch.
In that instant, something unexpected happened.
The Black Light Energy deep within Murphy’s spirit seemed to awaken, surging out violently to collide with the pink light.
The two Supernatural Powers intertwined inside and outside his body. The Black Light Energy displayed a shocking devouring property, and it began to rapidly consume the pink mist.
After devouring the pink light, the Black Light Energy seemed to have been nourished, and it began to feed a special kind of Energy back into him.
Murphy felt the remaining ten percent of his unopened Floating Meridians begin to tremble under the impact of this Energy.
Meridians that should have taken years to open were now expanding at a visible rate.
Every newly opened Floating Meridian sent a tearing pain through him, only to be soothed an instant later by a gentle, warm Energy.
Even more shocking...
Normally, even after all the Floating Meridians were opened, the body would still need a long time to adapt and grow. But under the influence of this special Energy, the process was massively accelerated.
Murphy could clearly feel his power growing at a tremendous rate. His muscle fibers rewove themselves under the nourishment of the Energy, and his Bone Density constantly increased.
This metamorphosis was more than just an increase in power; it was a leap to a higher level of existence.
The instant the final Floating Meridian was opened, the Qi in the meridians throughout his body continued to absorb the Energy from the Black Light.
As the Energy continued to pour in, the density of the Qi grew higher and higher, until it finally reached a critical point.
SWOOSH!
All the Qi suddenly condensed in his Dantian. As if the universe were being born, his Dantian began to expand under the impact of the Energy.
The once-narrow space of his Dantian was forced open by an invisible power, expanding at a shocking speed until a stable mass of Qi formed, slowly rotating in its center.
Then, an even purer form of Energy surged from the Qi mass and flooded his body, initiating a second metamorphosis.
His bones emitted faint cracking sounds as his muscle fibers reshaped themselves at a visible rate. A lustrous sheen appeared on every inch of his skin.
Murphy felt his senses become sharper than ever before. In the dim candlelight, he could clearly make out the tiniest motes of dust in the air.
After her pink mist was devoured, Cecilia went completely limp and collapsed toward the ground.
With quick reflexes, Murphy caught her, gently placing the flushed, sweat-drenched Cecilia onto a nearby chair.
Then, with a backhand motion, he drew the Knight’s Sword that was leaning against the wall and shot out the study door like an arrow loosed from its bow.
