Chapter 610: Chapter 27: Susan

Magpie is a relatively uncommon magic creature, favored among certain wizard apprentices in the Demon Hunting Battle Group for its tracking abilities.

The blue velvet magpie is a mutant with the potential to become a legendary creature, something an ordinary apprentice cannot afford to raise.

Thus, once there is a clue, it’s easy to lock on to the target.

"Basalom, a rather famous wizard apprentice in the Demon Hunting Battle Group. It is said that he will definitely become an official wizard within ten years."

Because of her good relationship with Isaiah, Monica, who successfully established a connection with Lynn, divulged her findings:

"His tutor is the Skin Wizard Carpenter, a First Ring Middle Stage Wizard with a peculiar hobby of collecting various skins."

"Good-looking people and special magic creatures are all his targets. Once he takes a liking to them, he will skin them for collection. It is said that he was reprimanded for continuously skinning several wizard apprentices from the Demon Hunting Battle Group, prompting him to build a room specifically to store various skins."

At this, Monica couldn’t help but turn pale.

"Hmm."

Lynn nodded slowly:

"Have you tracked down Basalom?"

"Yes," Monica confirmed:

"In the White Frost Forest!" 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

......

The White Frost Forest is not far from the Abyss Rift, abundant with a type of tree called the White Birch, whose leaves resemble frost, thus the name.

Several wizard apprentices from the Black Witch Tower hid behind these trees and underground, holding their breath and watching a few abyssal demons.

These were several Turtle-Backed Demon Ants, about the size of small buffaloes, with tough hides and rough flesh, their backs covered by a shell resembling a turtle’s.

Hunting Turtle-Backed Demon Ants didn’t yield many points, but they had delicious meat, beloved by many wizards.

The Magic Shop and butcher shops were willing to pay a high price in magic stones for them.

"Take action!"

With a low shout, the meticulously prepared witchcraft traps were instantly activated, enveloping the Turtle-Backed Demon Ants.

Swamp Technique!

The hard ground instantly transformed into a swamp with great suction, entangling the Turtle-Backed Demon Ants tightly.

Powerful electric net!

Arcs of electricity wove into a net, quickly coursing through the swamp, crackling incessantly.

Poison Arrows!

Dozens of dark green poison arrows emerged from the nearby White Birch trees, swiftly shooting at the targets.

The hidden wizard apprentices also charged out, waving their magic wands and casting various spells.

Even though the Turtle-Backed Demon Ants had exceptionally high spell resistance, subjected to this relentless assault, they were momentarily dazed.

By the time they regained their senses, it was already too late.

First Tier Seal——Frost Stepping!

Intense cold descended from above, instantly covering an area of dozens of square feet, freezing the Turtle-Backed Demon Ants to death.

"Phew..."

A female wizard apprentice with various eerie runes painted on her face stepped out from behind a tree, grinning broadly:

"All that waiting wasn’t in vain. We’ve finally succeeded. Let’s pack up and head back."

"Yes!"

They replied in unison.

They took out the prepared ropes and fishing nets to wrap the frozen Turtle-Backed Demon Ants, heading out of the forest.

They hadn’t gone far when one of them suddenly stopped:

"Watch out..."

"Thud!"

Before he could finish, an arrow pierced through the air, directly through his throat, taking with it a spray of blood.

"Thud!"

The corpse fell to the ground.

"Be careful!"

"It’s an ambush!"

Arrows fell like rain, continuously pelting down.

Some wizard apprentices waved magic wands to summon defensive shields, even transforming into breezes, but were still pierced by the arrows.

"These are magic arrows shot by a legendary knight. Don’t try to block them; dodge and get out of the way quickly."

The female wizard apprentice with eerie runes on her face screamed hoarsely, darting forward to take refuge behind a tree.

"Thud!"

"Thud, thud!"

Once the arrow storm had passed, only three survivors were left; everyone else lay dead on the ground.

"Swoosh!"

Figures flickered, dark shadows lunged at the three survivors.

Great Knight!

Legendary Knight!

The attackers weren’t just knights, they were imbued with the spirit light of witchcraft, wielding demonized items as weapons.

"Demon Hunting Battle Group!"

The apprentices from the Black Witch Tower shouted:

"Aren’t you afraid of retaliation from the Three Forces?"

The Three Forces were supposed to cooperate in exterminating demons, yet Demon Hunting Battle Group members were assassinating them.

"Afraid?"

"Of course we’re afraid!"

A cold voice came from not far away, accompanied by a rustling sound as a gigantic creature appeared on the scene.

"But as long as we kill you, who would know it was us?"

"And besides..."

"Hunting demons doesn’t pay as well as ambushing you."

As the creature revealed itself, it turned out to be a towering, three-meter-tall grotesque giant, with faces on its chest, back, and even its arms, which were grimacing and occasionally growling lowly.

The appearance of the creature brought with it a suffocating and dismal presence that settled heavily on their hearts.

First Ring Witchcraft——Intimidation!

"Hundred-faced Demon!"

Someone shouted in horror:

"You’ve actually practiced forbidden technique!"

Witchcraft is often bizarre, especially Bloodline Magic, but some wizards are so cruel they categorize certain practices as forbidden techniques.

The Hundred-faced Demon is one such case.

Practicing this technique requires first controlling a giant-blooded alien, then hunting down suitable victims.

One then transplants the killed faces onto the alien, eventually refining it.

"Once you’re dead, who would know?" The voice sounded again, unhurriedly:

"Kill them!"

The Hundred-faced Demon let out a low roar, the ground beneath its feet exploded, and enveloped in a black smoke, it rushed towards one of them.

The intimidation left the wizard apprentices with no heart to resist; they were instantly engulfed by the black smoke.

"Ah!"

"Crunch... crunch..."

Sounds like a beast devouring bones echoed, and the screams came to an abrupt halt.

The remaining two turned pale; without a word, they fled for their lives, throwing out spells in desperation.

"There’s no chance."

Basalom smirked coldly, waved his hand, and the wizard apprentices, along with the legendary knights, quickly advanced.

He himself casually strolled towards the center of the battlefield, rummaging through the corpses for valuable items.

Magic stones, magic wands, seals, cores of abyssal demons...

"Heh!"

"Hunting demons is such hard work, nowhere near as easy as this, especially for us."

Weighing the magic stones in his hand, Basalom chuckled lightly.

Wizard apprentices from the Demon Hunting Battle Group excel at tracking and assassinating their kind but hold little advantage against abyssal demons.

"Ah!"

Screaming came from behind.

Hmm?

The familiar voice made Basalom pause; it seemed to be the cry of a companion.

"Boom!"

Before he could react, a violent surge of spiritual power, like a hurricane, swept over, hot and fierce.

Wizard!

Basalom’s expression changed dramatically, he attempted to leap away, only to feel his hands suddenly tighten.

Somehow, a figure had appeared nearby, firmly grasping his hands.

"Rip..."

"Ah!"

The tremendous force tore his arms from his body, while his legs were slashed through by an invisible power.

Lynn tossed aside the screaming Basalom, turning his gaze to the approaching Hundred-faced Demon, pausing at a face on its cheek.

Susan?
