Chapter 466: 025 Mu Jiu Ora

「Void City.」

Divine Envoy Yun took out a key and opened the god chamber where the Divine Fire was kept.

HUM...

The heavy Stone Gate emitted a low sound, accompanied by swirling dust, as the interior of the spacious god chamber came into view.

The god chamber’s dome was propped up by giant wood, its walls were built of piled stones, and a jade-like material paved the floor.

Simple, sacred!

This was the holy land in the hearts of the people of Void City, having sheltered generations of their people for hundreds of years, allowing their lineage to continue.

The sealed god chamber never lacked a light source.

A flame, about the size of a human head, floated roughly a meter off the ground, burning quietly and emitting light.

The Divine Fire!

"Gods fell to earth. The Divine Fire descended upon the world. And the great serpent that destroys all will eventually Devour the shattered red moon!"

With a melodic chant, a tall woman swept past the crowd and approached the Divine Fire.

Her eyes shone with Spirit Light as she examined the flame.

"Seventeen years!"

"If there is no divine marrow as fuel, it will burn for at most another seventeen years before it extinguishes."

"Divine Envoy Yun."

The woman shook her head lightly, looking back somewhat displeased. "This isn’t quite what you told me."

"Seventeen years?" Divine Envoy Yun’s expression changed slightly. "Ola’s Divine Envoy, please forgive us. We didn’t precisely calculate the Divine Fire’s burning time; we could only estimate. Based on its previous burning rate, we felt it would last for over twenty years."

"Felt?" Ora shook her head. "In this world, the least reliable thing is feeling. But if it’s seventeen years, then so be it!"

She didn’t pursue the issue further; after all, more than twenty years and seventeen years weren’t that different.

Taking the Divine Fire from here to strengthen the Divine Fire of her own Void City was what truly mattered.

"Thank you, Ola’s Divine Envoy."

Divine Envoy Yun breathed a sigh of relief, stepping aside to reveal a group of people behind him. He explained, "These people are all skilled individuals from our Void City. Some understand talisman creation, some know prospecting, and others can cultivate meat worms."

There were a dozen or so people, Lulu among them. Each wore an anxious expression, huddling together for warmth as if that could ease their tension.

Scanning the crowd, Ora smiled. "There’s no need for any of you to be nervous. Our Mujiu Void City has always welcomed skilled individuals to settle. Once there, you will be assigned individual living quarters and laboratories, with daily provisions... Mujiu Void City has chefs who can make soft bread and warm milk—things you’ve probably only ever heard about."

At these words, everyone in the crowd showed fervent expressions.

"We’ve heard of it," someone nodded vigorously, saying, "Mujiu Void City is home to over a hundred thousand people. They are well-fed and rest easy, without worrying about survival."

"It’s just like..."

"The legendary Divine Domain!"

"Heh..." The words ’Divine Domain’ brought a flicker of mockery to Ora’s face, but she quickly suppressed it. "Most of what you’ve heard is true. However, Mujiu Void City doesn’t support idlers. Life is difficult there without abilities. Of course, for those of you with skills, your living conditions there will definitely be better than here."

This excited everyone, their expressions animated.

"That’s great!"

"I’ve long heard the legends of Mujiu Void City. People there even have soft quilts to sleep under!"

"Really?"

"It must be true, I’ve heard it too."

"..."

Amidst the fervent discussion, Makin, who remained silent, was clearly an exception.

"Ola’s Divine Envoy."

Divine Envoy Yun pulled Makin toward him, gave him a look, and said with a fawning smile, "His name is Makin. He usually manages this Void City and has a good chance of becoming a Divine Envoy. Quickly! Pay your respects to Ola’s Divine Envoy."

"Yes." Makin forced a smile. "It’s an honor to meet you, Ola’s Divine Envoy."

"Mm." Ora nodded. "I know you, Divine Envoy Bo Wen’s most outstanding disciple. You’ve made the right choice."

What a pity!

She glanced outside, shaking her head regretfully. "Divine Envoy Bo Wen is powerful and would be most welcome in Mujiu Void City, yet he stubbornly refuses to go."

Foolish!

"Exactly." Divine Envoy Yun nodded eagerly in agreement. "Bo Wen has excellent talent in cultivation, but he’s too stubborn. Even if he managed to escape this time, he’s bound to run into trouble sooner or later. By the way... Ola’s Divine Envoy, that place you mentioned... can it really confine him?"

He had wanted to say ’kill,’ but thinking of their many years of acquaintance, he couldn’t bring himself to do it, so he used ’confine’ instead.

"Don’t worry." Ora glanced at him with a half-smile. "There are three peak nightmare-level evil creatures there; he can’t possibly survive. And even if he does come back, you don’t have to be afraid. I’m here."

"Yes." Divine Envoy Yun chuckled dryly. "With Ola’s Divine Envoy here, everything will certainly be fine."

Ora turned and walked toward the Divine Fire, stopping close to it.

The burning Divine Fire emitted no heat, yet it could incinerate anything. Not even a Divine Envoy would be an exception.

WHOOSH!

Ora reached for a stone hanging at her waist, and a thick branch appeared in her palm.

She held the branch carefully as she approached the Divine Fire.

WHOOSH...

The instant the branch touched the Divine Fire, the flames swayed slightly before being drawn onto the branch.

The branch was enveloped and burned by the Divine Fire, yet it burned slowly.

"That will do!" Ora said with a smile. "As long as we reach Mujiu Void City within five days, we can merge this ball of Divine Fire with the one there. Let’s go!"

Ora turned and quickly stepped outside the door. Flicking her finger forward, a piece of bone fell to the ground.

The bone swelled as it met the wind. In the blink of an eye, it transformed into a Bone Dragon over ten meters long, with simple seats on either side of its back.

"Get on!" Ora gestured with a wave of her hand. "Let’s go!"

Everyone climbed onto the Bone Dragon in sequence. Makin was the last to leave the ground, casting one final glance at the place he had lived for decades.

The Void City...

The Inner City was mostly filled with infants and toddlers; their laughter and playful sounds were clearly audible.

Soon, without the Divine Fire’s protection, they would perish at the hands of evil creatures, and the Void City would be utterly reduced to ruins.

Makin opened his mouth, a sourness rising in his heart, and tears involuntarily flowed from his eyes.

"Forget it!" Divine Envoy Yun whispered in comfort, "After all these years, haven’t you seen enough death? Everyone must take this step. Look forward, don’t look back. Many hurdles, once stepped over, are left behind."

"..." Makin’s voice was hoarse. "Yes."

WHOOSH... The Gale buffeted their faces. Under the control of Ola’s Divine Envoy, the Bone Dragon took off from the ground, rushing towards the clouds above.

The Void City below shrank at a rate visible to the naked eye.

"Stop!"

Just as the Bone Dragon was about to leave the confines of Void City, an urgent, angry roar came from a distance.

"Stop right there!"

BOOM!

The previously clear sky suddenly filled with dark clouds, within which fine, thread-like arcs of lightning flickered.

The Bone Dragon soaring through the sky seemed to sense some kind of pressure, its form abruptly halting.

"Divine Envoy Bo Wen!"

"Tutor?"

"How did he come back?"

The familiar voice and aura made everyone’s expression change; a hint of joy even surfaced in Makin’s heart.

"Bo Wen?"

Ora stood up at the head of the Bone Dragon, frowning as she looked toward the two figures rushing over, puzzlement on her face. "You’re not dead?"

"Of course I’m not dead!" Bo Wen retorted, then paused. "Why would you ask that? Could it be... you knew about the crystalline creature in those ruins?"

The answer was obvious.

"Divine Envoy Yun!" Bo Wen’s face darkened. "How could you betray the Void City? Don’t you realize that taking the Divine Fire will doom everyone?"

"Bo Wen." With things having come this far, Divine Envoy Yun also stood up, shouting loudly, "You know very well that the ancestors’ prophecy is fake! This Void City will perish sooner or later. If we leave now, we can still save some of our Bloodline! Wait another decade or two, and everyone will be buried with you!"

"Bullshit!" Bo Wen roared furiously, transforming into a flash of lightning as he charged. "I’ll kill you!"

Ora narrowed her eyes and scoffed, her form flashing to meet him. "HMPH! I didn’t expect you to escape from the crystalline creature’s clutches. But it doesn’t matter. I’m here to finish you!"

WHOOSH!

Before her eyes, Carl, clad in a white Wizard Robe, intervened and said with a faint smile, "Your opponent is me."
