Chapter 385: 150 Dark Market_3

"Once something drastic happens, this bustling city might also be burnt to ashes."

"But none of that concerns me."

"Found it!"

In a narrow alley, a faint mist lingered without dissipating, along with a peculiar aura drifting about.

Carl’s eyebrows twitched, a look of surprise on his face. "The Star Realm? The Dark Market is actually in the Star Realm?"

He was very familiar with this aura; it was the essence of the Star Realm, which one could sense only after becoming an Official Wizard. Of course, here it was called the Divine Domain.

As he pondered this, a young man appeared nearby.

The young man was dressed in a waistcoat, a fur-lined jacket, riding breeches, and a hat that was slightly too large, necessitating frequent adjustments with his hand. It was clear he was trying to present himself as a respectable person living in the city. But his worn-out clothes, the ill-fitting hat, and his rough skin all spoke of his tough living conditions.

The streets grew narrower. Soon, there were no pedestrians around, and more mist seeped from who knows where.

Matthew licked his lips nervously and took out an old pocket watch hanging around his neck to have a glance.

It was nearby!

I hope the records in the book are correct. If this opportunity doesn’t bring enough supplies for myself, my mother, and my sister, we all have to move to the suburbs to live, and life will be even tougher.

Not to mention mine and my sister’s educational pursuits.

But... 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎

Could it really have what I’m looking for here?

His heart was in turmoil, and he subconsciously touched something in his chest, feeling a burning sensation. He gritted his teeth and continued walking forward.

"Young man."

Ahead, the mist had quietly dissipated at some point, revealing a middle-aged man in a long robe, top hat, and walking cane. Unlike Matthew, the middle-aged man had an innate air of nobility about him, and his clothes were merely an embellishment.

"It’s getting late; you should head back."

"Who are you?" Matthew tensed instinctively, his eyes darting around as he cautiously said, "My home is just up ahead."

"Up ahead is a dead end."

"..."

Matthew gritted his teeth. "I’ll just climb over the wall."

"Ha..." Carl chuckled, shaking his head. "The Market isn’t somewhere just anyone can go to."

Market?

Matthew’s eyes lit up. "Are you also someone who’s heading to the Market?"

"Yes." Carl nodded. "Although you’ve practiced breathing techniques, you’re not even a Knight. Going into the Market would only be a death sentence. Young man, it’s time for you to go back."

"I..." Matthew clenched his jaw, his face showing his struggle. "I need to go in to exchange money!"

"Exchange money?" Carl shook his head. "The currency used in the Market isn’t the pitiful few Divine Grace Coins in your pocket. Besides, other things, hmm... What is this?"

He gestured lightly. A small cloth bag from Matthew’s chest and the worn pocket watch hanging from his neck flew out, landing in Carl’s hand.

"You!"

Matthew was startled but dared not make any sudden moves. They were several meters apart. Yet, with a simple gesture from the man, Matthew’s belongings had flown into his hand. Matthew had never even heard of such a technique, let alone seen it. He knew very well what his fate would be if he tried anything.

Carl opened the small cloth bag and looked at the few seeds inside. First Order Fire Lire Flower seeds. He nodded slightly and tossed a coin pouch to Matthew. "Young man, go back," Carl said. "Before you’re strong enough, it’s better not to meddle with certain things."

With that, he turned and stepped into the fog, vanishing from sight.

Matthew stood still for a moment, then picked up the coin pouch from the ground. As he opened it, his face erupted with joy. He instinctively looked around to make sure no one was watching before hurriedly pocketing it and running back the way he came.

His sole purpose had been to get money.

Whether or not he entered the Market no longer mattered since he had achieved his goal.
