Chapter 61: Beast tide

Just a few hours had passed since the earlier battle, and Han Leu had stopped the ship where it was, deciding that traveling deeper into the forest during the night would be far too dangerous. The darkness would only amplify hidden threats.

Moving forward at night in such a corrupted region was extremely risky, as more demonic puppets or concealed traps could emerge without warning, making even a prepared group vulnerable to sudden attacks.

Night slowly blanketed everything as the forest below sank into darkness, while the earlier corrupted regions blended into the shadows, making the entire landscape feel even more oppressive and unnatural.

On the deck, Lin Xiaotian and Han Leu remained seated together, their attention fully focused on the jade slips and tomes scattered between them, continuing to search for any additional information regarding the Raven.

Time passed slowly as the wind moved quietly across the ship, carrying with it a faint chill that made the already tense atmosphere feel even heavier than before.

Just then, the cabin door behind them opened softly, drawing their attention slightly as Chu Yue emerged under the faint moonlight. Her steps were steady, though her aura had not fully recovered yet, showing clear signs of fatigue despite the healing she had received earlier from the medicinal pill.

Her gaze quickly settled on both of them as she approached without hesitation, her expression calm but carrying an urgency that was difficult to ignore.

"I will inform my sect about this," she said clearly, her tone steady though layered with seriousness that reflected her understanding of the situation. "This matter is far beyond what we can handle alone, and we do not even know what the real source truly is yet."

As she spoke, her hand moved slightly as she prepared to send a signal using her sect’s communication method, her decision already made without hesitation.

But Lin Xiaotian raised his hand immediately, stopping her action before she could proceed any further. "The source is definitely something unknown and dangerous," he said calmly, his gaze steady as he looked directly at her without wavering. "But we might have already found some information related to it."

Without delay, he took out a jade slip and handed it toward her, his expression serious as he allowed her to see the information they had just uncovered.

Chu Yue accepted it cautiously as she sent her divine sense into the jade slip, scanning through the contents with focused attention. As she read further, her expression began to change slowly, the calmness in her eyes fading as shock and disbelief replaced it gradually.

Her eyes widened. "If this is really true," she said slowly, her voice tightening slightly as the weight of the information settled within her mind. "Then not just us, but the entire Yangzhou region could be in grave danger."

Her grip tightened slightly around the jade slip as she immediately came to a conclusion without hesitation. "We may have to contact the upper regions immediately, as this is not something we can resolve alone."

Without wasting time, she raised her bow and gathered her energy, preparing to send a long-distance signal using her sect’s method she released the arrow.

The arrow shot upward into the sky with speed and precision, carrying her intent toward distant regions but then it fell back down. Chu Yue’s expression froze completely as she stared at the fallen arrow, unable to understand what had just happened.

Lin Xiaotian and Han Leu both looked at her immediately, confusion appearing in their eyes as they followed her gaze toward the arrow.

Something was wrong and just then a voice echoed. It did not come from a single direction, but instead seemed to emerge from everywhere at once, low and distorted, carrying a tone that felt as if it came from something buried deep beneath existence itself.

"Too late, little girl...You have entered a place you should not have entered." It continued "And you have begun investigating things you should never have touched."

The voice faded slowly as silence returned for a brief moment, making the atmosphere feel even heavier than before.

Then the demonic qi surged violently as from the darkness ahead, a figure slowly emerged, its form wrapped in dense demonic energy that distorted the air around it making it difficult to even perceive it.

Its presence alone felt suffocating and behind it, five puppets appeared, each identical to the one they had barely destroyed earlier, their pale forms standing motionless yet radiating overwhelming pressure.

Their presence shifted the battlefield instantly and beyond them, an endless army of beasts began to emerge from the darkness, their numbers too vast to count as their glowing eyes filled the surroundings.

The ground trembled faintly under their collective presence. The scale of what stood before them was far beyond anything they had prepared for, making the situation instantly escalate to a level of extreme danger.

Hearing the commotion, the disciples rushed onto the deck quickly, gathering behind Lin Xiaotian as they looked toward the overwhelming force ahead.

Yet despite the situation, there was no fear in their eyes nor any hesitation there was only an indomitable will and a blind belief in their sect master. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

Just as Lin Xiaotian was thinking about what to do next, his gaze flickering between the overwhelming forces ahead, two figures suddenly stepped forward from behind him with unwavering determination. The shift in momentum was immediate and unmistakable.

Tianhe and Miao-Miao stood at the front, their presence steady despite the crushing pressure from the battlefield ahead. Their eyes showed no hesitation.

"Sect Master, leave all beasts below Golden Core to us," Tianhe said firmly, his voice steady and filled with absolute confidence that did not allow room for doubt. Miao-Miao stood beside him and nodded silently.

The moment those words were spoken, both of their auras began changing drastically, their human forms no longer able to contain the true nature hidden within their bloodlines. The transformation began instantly.

Miao-Miao’s body shifted first as her frame became lighter and more fluid, soft fur emerging while her features refined into something mystical, transforming her into a fox spirit-like being. Her eyes glowed faintly.

Tianhe followed immediately after, his entire body expanding with power as scales formed across his skin, his aura erupting outward as he took the form of a dragon-like warrior filled with ancient presence.

The moment both transformations completed, a deep and ancient pressure spread outward from them, not overwhelming to humans, but directly targeting the instincts of all beasts within range. It was instinctual suppression.

The effect was immediate as the previously organized beast formation collapsed instantly as confusion spread among them, their movements breaking apart under the oppressive aura that disrupted their hierarchy and natural instincts.

Some beasts dropped to their knees under the pressure, unable to resist the overwhelming instinctual suppression that forced submission. Others turned around in panic, some tried to flee while others lost control completely and began rampaging wildly without direction, their instincts clashing violently under the ancient pressure released by Tianhe and Miao-Miao.

Lin Xiaotian’s eyes narrowed slightly as he observed the scene carefully, quickly understanding the nature and cost of what they were doing at that very moment.

This isn’t going to last long at most 5 min’s.

He could see it clearly, the strain already beginning to appear within their fluctuating auras, showing that maintaining such forms was taking a significant toll on their bodies and reserves. At most a few minutes.

The demonic figure in the distance watched the entire scene unfold without concern, its expression remaining unchanged before letting out a cold and dismissive snort.

Then it acted and with a simple gesture, it directed five Golden Core beasts forward along with the puppets, sending them directly toward the ship with overwhelming force and absolute command.

The attack descended instantly and the ship’s barrier flared brightly as it resisted the incoming strikes, its surface trembling violently under repeated impacts as the formation struggled to maintain stability.

Cracks of instability began to form but before the barrier could collapse completely, three figures stepped forward simultaneously, releasing their auras as they reinforced the defense without hesitation.

Han Leu.

Chu Yue.

Lin Xiaotian.

All three combined their strength, pushing back against the overwhelming assault as their power stabilized the formation just enough to prevent immediate collapse.

Even then, they were being pushed back.

Just as the pressure began exceeding their limits, another figure stepped forward from behind them, his presence erupting with intense heat that spread instantly across the battlefield.

Xiaoshan had arrived and his entire body burned red as his bloodline and physique were forcefully ignited, his aura surging violently as he pushed beyond his natural limits to draw out greater power.

Lin Xiaotian’s expression changed immediately as he understood what was happening.

He is burning his foundation and forcing a Heaven-tier body refinement art beyond its limits.

Before he could react further, another presence emerged from behind them with equally terrifying momentum and rising power.

Yan Feng stepped forward and with each step he took, his aura surged violently as his cultivation broke through in real time, his presence expanding as he advanced without hesitation or restraint.

Step.

Breakthrough.

Step.

Another breakthrough.

Within moments, he reached the first level of Core Formation, his aura stabilizing into something terrifyingly solid and refined, far beyond ordinary cultivators of the same realm.

Lin Xiaotian stared.

What kind of absurd boost is this... What did Zhao Lingyue even give this monster... I want this kind of protagonist-level cheat too.

One by one, more disciples stepped forward as their auras rose, some revealing hidden techniques while others prepared to risk their lives without hesitation.

The deck filled with their power different strengths, different wills but all moving toward the same purpose and same belief. Lin Xiaotian’s expression tightened as he watched them, a rare trace of panic appearing within his thoughts as he realized what they were prepared to sacrifice.

Just as he was about to stop them, Han Leu placed a firm hand on his shoulder, stopping him before he could speak or act further.

"Stop, Sect Master," Han Leu said calmly, his tone steady. "It is their choice, and they have already decided to fight."
