Chapter 1409: Don’t bully them (2)

Lin Fan didn’t stop any of his pets from running wild among the beasts on this Lion Hill.

He just watched as they caused more and more trouble.

The beasts that they had preyed on before were just normal beasts that weren’t that strong to begin with.

But now, they had started targeting beasts that were on a different level.

As the name suggested, this Lion Hill was a place where the lion was the king. However, there was a wide area that was under the lion and this area was split among the different beasts that lived here.

It wasn’t as if the lion cared about what happened in every part of his territory. It was just like how a human king only cared about the nation as a whole and there were nobles that took care of individual territories.

In this case, they were hunting the beasts that could be considered nobility in this place.

Since they were considered nobility, it was only natural that they would be stronger than the regular beasts that they had been hunting until now. But at the same time, that meant that their bloodline was much more pure and useful.

Only even though they were supposed to be stronger, it really wasn’t a problem for Lin Fan’s pets.

"There really is no change at all, it’s still the same bullying. This is even getting a bit hard to watch."

Seeing the way that his pets completely destroyed the beasts that lived in this place, Lin Fan couldn’t help feeling a bit guilty since he was the one that had unleashed them on this place to begin with.

If it wasn’t for him, then they wouldn’t have been doing all of this.

Still, it wasn’t as if that little bit of guilt would be enough to make him stop.

This was a world where survival of the fittest was the base rule, so there really wasn’t a need for him to even feel this way.

It was just that it was hard for him watching all of these beasts being swept away by his pets.

As more and more of the beast nobility were being swept away, it was clear that the entire atmosphere of this Lion Hill was changing. There was this kind of restlessness that filled the air as more and more beasts evacuated from the areas that were being cleared by Lin Fan’s pets.

It seemed like it was only a matter of time before...

"Roar!"

This was a roar that cut right through the air and echoed across the entirety of the hill.

This was a roar that had the prestige of a king that ruled over all the beasts that lived in this place.

Hearing this roar, there was no doubt of the identity of the one that this roar belonged to.

It seemed like the plan had finally worked and that lion had been lured out of its nest.

It didn’t take long for it to make its presence felt.

In fact, it seemed like it was releasing all of its aura as if it was challenging whoever it was that was causing trouble in its territory.

Even though the lion had aged, it seemed like its ferocity hadn’t been lost.

That was why it put on such an aggressive appearance the moment that it was challenged in its territory like this.

However, Lin Fan didn’t go to meet with it.

Instead, it was the pets that all gathered together and headed to see the lion that was releasing this aura. Lin Fan just watched this happen, but he could tell that there was no fear that came from his pets.

Even though they were about to face the king of beasts, it seemed like they didn’t think much of the lion.

When the lion saw the group of pets, it still had the same aggressive look on the outside.

However, anyone with sharp eyes would have been able to see that the lion’s eyes had a trace of wariness in it. Even though the lion was the king of this place, that didn’t mean that it was a fool that had been conceded with pride.

The moment that the pets appeared, the lion could sense the aura that came from them.

At the same time, the lion could tell that this group was dangerous.

That was why the lion had taken to posing, trying to scare off the pets before they even started to fight. It was trying to use the prestige that it had built up over the years in an attempt to scare them away.

Only this didn’t have any effect on the pets at all.

If it was another group, maybe they would have been scared by the pressure that the lion exuded. However, it was different when it came to these pets.

That was because the aura that they were currently exuding that caused the lion to sense danger from them was just their passive aura. It wasn’t as if they were actually taking note of the lion or trying to pressure it.

They were just sizing up the lion after meeting it for the first time.

With his connection to the pets, Lin Fan could easily tell what they were thinking.

"Is this really all that it has?"

Pure disappointment, that was the only way to describe how the pets were feeling at this moment. Though Lin Fan didn’t blame them since it was clear that the lion was much weaker than had been reported.

It was even much weaker than Lin Fan had thought it would be, even though he didn’t have that high of expectations to begin with.

It was to the point where it didn’t seem like the pets were even interested in dealing with the lion since none of them had any compatibility with the lion. Even if they were to take down the lion, it wasn’t as if the bloodline of the lion would do them any good.

The only reason that they were still committed to taking down the lion was because Lin Fan had told them to do so.

But instead of taking down this lion, it was clear that there were other beasts that they were more interested in taking down.

Still, they had to find someone to take down this lion...

"Rock, paper, scissors."

Hayase was the only one that said it out loud, but it seemed like they were playing rock, paper, scissors to decide who would be the unlucky one that would have to deal with the lion.

It wasn’t that they would be unlucky for having to deal with the lion, it was that they would be unlucky for being stuck with the lion.

It really was strange seeing these pets playing rock, paper, scissors even though they didn’t have any hands to play this game. But the one that was the most confused was the lion since it had no idea what was happening in this situation.

After a while, it was only Hayase and Shiro that were left in this game.

The other pets all looked at Hayase with pity since they already knew how this would end. All of them knew how Hayase felt about Shiro since he wasn’t shy about expressing his feelings.

Which was why Hayase gave up in the end with the way that Shiro looked at him.

"Alright, I’ll take my anger out on you."

The lion looked furious when it heard this.

Even though it knew that this dragon was dangerous, its pride wouldn’t let it take this kind of insult lying down. It was the king and it had the pride of a king, so naturally it would fight if its pride was insulted like this.

The problem was that...

"Boom!"

The lion gathered its energy and slashed out with its claw, sending out a slash filled with energy at Hayase. The problem was that before it could even come close, it was stopped by a barrier of water that appeared.

"At best, it only has the power of someone in the Peak Foundation Realm." Lin Fan thought to himself as he watched the fight.

He knew that Hayase would be more than capable of dealing with someone in the Peak Foundation Realm, which was why he wasn’t worried about him. Rather, he was more curious about what was so special about this lion that the Laver Empire...or rather Haku had sent him here. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

After all, he couldn’t find anything right now.

"Roar!"

Before the water spikes that Hayase formed hit the lion, it suddenly gave a roar before it was covered in this layer of light. Not only that, it seemed like the earth in the ground was coming up to form a layer of armour around the lion.

The moment that Lin Fan saw this, he already knew what kind of power this lion was drawing on.

At the same time, he could already guess why Haku had sent him here in the first place.

"So this thing has a pure elemental item that it has been draining. It’s no wonder it was able to develop this kind of strength."

With the mystery solved, Lin Fan just lost interest in the lion.

It wasn’t strong enough for him to take note of it and try to tame it.

So he didn’t care if Hayase took care of this matter.

But it seemed like Hayase had other plans.

Hayase recognized that the dirt armour that the lion formed was important, which was why he suddenly formed a ball of water around the lion.

The lion tried to fight back, but it really couldn’t leave a mark on this ball of water.

Defenses meant nothing if one couldn’t breathe...

"It feels like we’re bullying it once more..."
