Chapter 146: <Chapter 145>

Kail was in a coma for well over a week.

After ten days of not waking up, the doctors didn’t seem to have much hope for him. Instead of becoming hysterical, Silje began to feel calmer as the uncertain time passed.

She felt like she was ready to let him go now.

With that thought, Silje visited the hospital again. Smelling the unpleasant disinfectant and walking into the VIP room, she stopped suddenly.

“…”

For some reason, there were more doctors and nurses inside the room than usual. Silje raised her eyebrows in confusion. Something felt different. These people weren’t here just for a routine round.

One of the nurses noticed Silje and informed her, “The patient woke up a little while ago. You can visit him if you want, but only briefly.”

Kail was awake.

Just when she finally came to terms with his death, God sent her an unexpected gift. Walking slowly to his bed, Silje looked at him calmly, but her hands were trembling and her heart was pounding.

No matter how hard she tried to remain cool, Silje couldn’t hide her feelings for him. She took a deep breath.

These emotions… These sharp and primal feelings…

One thing was certain. This man in front of her made her feel raw passion.

She had to admit that her heart was beating fast. She felt nervous about seeing him. Silje saw him almost every day, but he was unconscious at the time.

But now… it was different.

Things had definitely changed.

Kail no longer looked helpless with various machines hooked up to him. Instead, he was sitting up and looking straight at her.

His eyes made her tremble. Those clear green eyes…

He still looked weak and his breath sounded slightly labored, making her heart ache again.

But he showed no emotions as he crossed his arms and watched her quietly.

“…”

After a short silence, Silje opened her lips.

“I had a dream, Kail.”

She continued slowly, “We ran around the green summer forest. You and I… In bare feet. No one and nothing could stop us. In my dream, we went everywhere. Fresh green grass, wildflowers, the tall trees… Everything felt so real and we were free. When we got tired, we went back to the old cottage where Solveig’s song was playing. The wooden cottage near the lake… Do you remember, Kail? It was the place where our hearts could rest. I always thought that it was just a dream, a hallucination, but when you were on your deathbed, I realized the truth. If I reached out, I could go there anytime I wanted. That place really exists still; it is inside our hearts.”

She spoke quietly, but her voice showed obvious determination as she looked at him.

“Do you understand? Kail, if we want to go there, we can. We can go there anytime we want. That magical place will always be waiting for us. I have forgotten about it, but not anymore. I know it now. However, I am not ready to go there yet. It isn’t time for me to go back to that wooden cottage with you. I want to go there when I am ready. I hope you understand.”

“So you are saying it’s just not the right time? Then you do whatever you need to and want to first. I will wait for you. I will wait for you leisurely while listening to Solveig’s song.”

“You just woke up from a coma, yet you still sound so smug. Do you know what you put me through while you were unconscious?”

Silje glared at him coldly, but she still couldn’t take her eyes off him. Kail almost died, yet he looked so calm and confident. Still bandaged and pale-faced, Kail looked at her with a faint smile.

His seductive eyes made her heart burn and to Silje, he looked as beautiful as ever. She knew for certain that she would never be able to refuse him.

This was her fate. Her destiny. There were moments when she didn’t want this, but there was no way around it. She finally gave up and accepted it, knowing that it will soon be time for her to go back to that summer forest.

To Kail.

Silje smiled slowly.

“Fine. I will come to you when I think it’s time, so wait for me until then. You better not do anything funny.”

“Then are you planning to go to Korea?”

He was smiling mysteriously as he asked. Silje replied, “Yes. I’m going to go to Korea. It will be the long way around to return to you.”

Silje slowly approached him and held his hand, and to her surprise, Kail brought her hand to his lips for a kiss. Like a groan, he said to her, “It has been such a long journey for us. A very painful one, but I will always wait for you.”

“Good, and I know you would never lie about something like that. Kail… You make me feel like my bones are going to melt. I will accept your deep and obsessive love for me. I will welcome it now, but make sure not to follow me. Don’t even think about coming to Korea to find me. I will call you when I am ready.”

She spoke like a queen, and at her demanding attitude, Kail laughed. He kissed her fingers again and replied, “Well, we’ll see. I won’t force you to do anything, but don’t think you can stop me if I want to visit you. You know you can’t order me around. I am a man who is used to command, not be commanded.”

He said to her stubbornly and smiling seductively, he whispered in a husky voice, “So, a new battle starts again between us, my Queen.”

“If you wish, Kail.”

Silje smiled sweetly and caressed his hair.

Slowly, she lowered her face to kiss his lips gently but possessively.

Kail groaned and kissed her back desperately.

Silje quietly announced, “Kail, our long night is over now. The sun is finally coming up for us.”
