Wilderness Survival with Druid System-Chapter 506 - 5: Contestants
After not seeing each other for a month, the two assistants truly missed Chen Wen.
"How was it? Did you encounter any danger on the road?"
Jiang Chang took Chen Wen’s backpack and asked.
Chen Wen placed the documents on the table and said with a smile, "It was thrilling yet safe, actually quite a nice experience, like a picnic. In hindsight, I should have brought you along."
Upon hearing this, the two shook their heads.
They both weren’t fond of wilderness survival; camping for a day or two was fine.
But staying for thirty days was like climbing to heaven.
"Why don’t you take a bath? I have some news to share with you once you’re done."
Lin Jiawei said.
Chen Wen nodded, grabbed some clean clothes, and immediately went into the bathroom to take a bath.
After a comforting hot bath.
Outside, Lin Jiawei went to a restaurant in the town and bought some local specialties.
After placing the food on the table, the three chatted while eating.
"During this time, the other contestants have all arrived."
Lin Jiawei looked at Chen Wen opening the contestant profiles and began to share the information he had gathered: "Besides those you are familiar with, there are some elites from other associations. Watch as I provide you the details."
Chen Wen nodded slightly.
The first on the list is him.
Chen Wen looked at his profile; it wasn’t very complete, but his specialties were listed: Beast Taming, Javelin, Fishing, Swimming...
After a cursory glance at his information, Chen Wen turned his attention to Hua Yun’s information.
In Hua Yun’s profile, there was an additional position: Vice President of the Survival Branch, Hua Country Exploration Association.
The other information was what Chen Wen already knew, like her extreme proficiency in archery hunting, her participation in the recording of wilderness survival shows, and the creation of the mobile hunting style.
"Hua Yun’s preparation this time is quite thorough."
Lin Jiawei said, "She has honed her archery skills again, and she should be the most skilled archer among the ten contestants this time."
Chen Wen remained noncommittal.
The third contestant, an old acquaintance, Adam.
After passing through the Caprivi, he successfully obtained the last ticket for the wilderness survival.
Adam’s introduction also included a position, but his was New Leader of the American Expedition Association Survival Branch.
"This New Leader is the best performer among the newcomers and a candidate as a seed contestant."
Lin Jiawei said, "I heard from Miss Luo about the Eight Extremes Challenge a couple of days ago."
Chen Wen suddenly understood,
Adam didn’t excel in many things, but he was very versatile.
However, what made Chen Wen a bit awkward was that at the end of Adam’s introduction, there was an additional note: Often competed with Chen Wen, but always ended in defeat.
Gosh, has Adam seen his own profile?
The answer was undoubtedly yes.
However, Adam wasn’t angry or anything; instead, his fighting spirit was even more vigorous.
The fourth, Roland.
Like Chen Wen, Roland did not have a position; it stated that he was a free survivalist.
His specialty was naturally hunting, but Chen Wen noticed it mentioned proficiency in survival planning.
It seemed Roland had secretly learned a lot from their last encounter.
I’m kind of anticipating it now.
Chen Wen thought, turning to the fifth person, Gaston.
Surprisingly, Gaston was a member of the American Expedition Association, which Chen Wen hadn’t expected.
However, he wasn’t any sort of new leader, nor did he have many specialties.
Yet what also made Chen Wen a bit awkward was that Gaston’s profile ended with another note: Very lucky.
Goodness gracious.
Chen Wen checked behind this note, which recorded Gaston’s previous survival experiences.
In the two survival victories, it was because the original first place got injured accidentally, which allowed Gaston to seize the win.
This guy’s got something to him!
Chen Wen muttered, "Survivors with such luck often have something mystical about them."
The sixth person was a stranger.
This was Vini, who wasn’t the bear.
Instead, he was the New Leader of the British Expedition Association Survival Branch.
Extremely skilled in high-latitude survival and trap hunting.
Lin Jiawei added, "This person is quite formidable. Mr. Liu instructed me to tell you that in pure survival contests, he can surpass Adam."
That’s indeed very strong.
Chen Wen couldn’t help but glance at Vini’s photo.
Caucasian male, about thirty, looks ordinary, but his facial features were very soft.
His appearance didn’t seem like a bad person.
After a quick glance, Chen Wen continued on to the seventh person.
"Whoa! How tall is this guy? Two meters?"
Chen Wen gasped, unable to help remarking.
All the photos were full-body shots, yet this guy was taller than the off-road vehicle beside him.
"Fred, a contestant from Far East Russia."
Lin Jiawei had a deep impression of this person too: "Very tall, very strong. He was formerly a lumberjack and famously once killed a brown bear with an axe deep in the forest."
"He’s very well-known in Russia, and there’s a video of him wrestling a black bear with his bare hands on Twitter."
A purely power-type contestant.
Chen Wen said, "It’s a good thing there’s no PVP segment; otherwise, if he entered, headaches would ensue."
Upon hearing this, Lin Jiawei smiled wryly: "But you’ll definitely encounter him in the future; he’s a seed contestant personally chosen by the president of the Russian Survival Association and will surely participate in the Eight Extremes Challenge."
Alright then.
Chen Wen memorized Fred’s appearance, quite like a bear, with a ferocious face.
Upon seeing the eighth person, Chen Wen smiled.
"Ah, Yoshikawa Feng’s disciple."
Shijing Heren, a Hokkaido native from Japan, skilled in archery and crafts.
Currently the New Leader of the Japan Survival Association.
Lin Jiawei nodded, "There’s nothing much to note about this person; Mr. Liu’s assessment was simple—a mini version of Yoshikawa Feng."
Chen Wen glanced at his survival history; nothing stood out.
He nodded slightly, agreeing with that comment.
If he could beat Yoshikawa Feng, beating his disciple would naturally follow.
The ninth was named Vic, the New Leader of the German Survival Association.
Skilled in archery.
"His archery style differs quite a bit from Hua Yun’s."
Lin Jiawei added information not on the profile: "If Hua Yun’s style is technique-driven, then his strength lies in overwhelming force; look at his bow, it’s reputedly 160 pounds."
"He once used this bow to shoot a black bear dead with one arrow."
Whoa, talents really abound!
Chen Wen seriously examined Vic. Though not very tall at about 175 cm,
he was quite hefty!
One could even say he was a bit chubby.
The muscles on his arms weren’t the sculpted kind from a gym, but they were bulky.
"This guy is no joke. If his archery is accurate, he’s likely to make it to the top three."
Chen Wen commented.
A 160-pound bow could easily shoot wolves or bears.
Even the massive moose and musk ox could be taken down with one shot if aimed properly.
After noting Vic’s details, Chen Wen continued looking down.
The last one was from France, named Phil.
But unlike the others, his position was Acting President of the French Survival Association.
"Acting President?"
Chen Wen couldn’t help but glance at Lin Jiawei.
Lin Jiawei was well-versed in organizational affairs.
He explained, "The situation in France is rather complex; their president wants to participate in this Eight Extremes Challenge and plans to take a leave of absence to focus on training."
"Phil, as the New Leader and Vice President, performed outstandingly, so the president appointed him as Acting President."
"As for the seed contestant status, if Phil can reach the top three, he’ll become France’s seed contestant. But if he doesn’t, their president will hold the seed status."
Chen Wen nodded, gaining a clearer understanding of the contestants’ situations.
