Who Said A Necromancer Can't Be A Priest?-Chapter 85: Fresher’s Party (3)
After the orientation, the seniors surrounded them. They all had pamphlets in their hands, explaining their clubs. Naturally, most of the representatives had nothing to do with the club.
They were the club's faces, people who would attract others to join. By doing one day of hard work, they'd get credits for the rest of the year without participating in the club activities.
As for the freshmen, they readily walked toward the seniors because clubs had the necessary credits that they couldn't miss. Obviously, most clubs were useful.
Dueling, strategizing, summoning—all kinds of clubs existed. Aaran was wondering when he saw a teacher promoting the club she oversaw. More people were interested in her club than any other.
Aaran couldn't believe his eyes and walked ahead to get a clear view. No one cleared the way for him, but the teacher saw him and smiled. However, that smile brought him a headache—nothing more.
The teacher mouthed the words be right there to Aaran, handing the pamphlets to her assistant before walking over to him.
"I don't think you want to have a chat here?" Seraphina asked, masking her amusement.
Aaran didn't say a word and walked out. Seraphina quickly followed him.
Now it made sense why she wasn't affected by Eleanor's words. She had already enrolled in the academy as a teacher. While Eleanor would have to cherish the one night they spent together, Seraphina had four years to be with Aaran.
"What do you think you're doing here?" Aaran asked, massaging his temples.
"I thought you loved surprises, Your Majesty."
"This isn't funny, Sera."
Seraphina's smile dropped, and she actually turned serious for once.
"I'm the next in line to inherit the magic tower. I was offered a spot as a professor here, and I accepted. This has nothing to do with you."
"Then I hope you'll keep a professional distance between us, professor."
With that, Aaran turned to walk away, but Seraphina stopped him.
"What if I don't? We're both adults here, so what's the issue?"
The issue was that Aaran didn't want her to end up in trouble. He had to deal with a few others, as per the Emperor's wish. He also had to investigate a cult—who knew what they'd do if they found out? It wasn't like Seraphina needed protection, at least when she was sober.
"No issue, professor."
Aaran emphasized the last word to hint at their relationship. But Seraphina either didn't get it or deliberately ignored it.
"I never knew you were into roleplaying. Don't be ashamed, you can tell me all your kinks too—"
Aaran's face turned red as he rushed back inside. A few people saw their interaction, and Aaran knew rumors would soon run rampant.
Great. I just got here, and things are already messed up.

Ignoring the clubs, Aaran joined the campus tour. The sooner he got acquainted with his surroundings, the better. At least they reached the dorms.
Four L-shaped buildings formed a rough, box-like architecture. All four buildings were for the boys. As for the girls, similar buildings were present on the other side of the campus.
It was to ensure the nobles didn't end up making babies without their families' consent. While the academy segregated students based on their talent, the world still hung on outdated principles of lineage.
Hence, the males and the females were separated most of the time.
But there were other segregations between the years. Each year's students had a different building. The students only had access to their building, not the other three.
The students were then sent to their dorm room to get ready for the banquet. Each room had two beds, but thankfully, Aaran wasn't allotted a partner.
Maybe it was the Emperor's influence or maybe it was done by the Marki to isolate him. Either way, Aaran was happy with the situation. He could enter and leave the room with no problems.
Outside the room, the atmosphere was lively. The freshmen were excited about the banquet, but Aaran had no intention of wasting his time there. Not attending the banquet could be seen as disrespectful, but at the same time, it wasn't compulsory.
Besides, he was Aaran Runedral.
As the Emperor's son, he was supposed to be arrogant.
Instead, he planned to go outside the campus and investigate the cult.
An hour later.
While the freshmen were busy forming and joining cliques, Aaran was on the rooftop, scanning everything around him.
As expected, guards walked every inch of the academy at night. As such, escaping into the city seemed impossible. But with his skills, it was easy.
Charm wasn't a useless stat after all.

In a dim corner of the Medibi, three people stumbled out of a bar. They were well-known servants of the Marki. They often used their name to have fun with the women outside.
Things would've been fine if they only did that, but they took things too far once. They fancied a maid and a month ago, they couldn't hold back and did unspeakable things to her.

A week later, the maid took her life.
The Alberta household, a decent-sized kingdom just outside the Runedral Empire, wanted to retaliate, but couldn't. They were a small kingdom and didn't want to upset a unified empire.
Attacking anyone from Marki was akin to attacking their emperor. The Alberta didn't want to cause a scene over a maid and let the matter go.
At least on the surface.
In secret, they contacted Runedral, showing a willingness to join the Empire if they did something about those Marki bastards.
The Emperor initially rejected the request, but after the stunt, the Marki pulled in Velrune, he agreed and so their name ended in the list of targets.
Drunk off their asses, the three musketeers didn't notice a shadow following them. Why would they, when countless beauties walked the streets before them?
They noticed something was strange when one of them fell over. But by then, it was too late. Death had arrived to claim them.
