Who let him join the Sword Sect?!-Chapter 595 - 336 Everywhere Pass_2
Zhang Ze paused for a moment. He was about to suggest that Yushu Lou explore the vast world outside, but then he reconsidered. Given Yushu Lou's gigantic size, going out might indeed frighten people.
Those unaware might even mistake it for the Demon-locking Tower of some Great Power that had decided to leave home.
"If you still want to host the Illusion Realm, I'm afraid you'll need to wait a while longer," Zhang Ze said.
"No worries, as long as I have something to do," Yushu Lou replied softly.
"Let's not talk about that. There's actually something I want to ask you. Do you remember what Emperor Xiao Jing did before the war started, anything at all?" Zhang Ze remembered something important and asked.
Though most memories of that great war had been lost, Yushu Lou hadn't forgotten some trivial matters from before the war.
As a landmark of the Divine Capital Baiyujing back then, he knew more about things than Zhu Luo.
After pondering for a moment, Yushu Lou said, "Before the war, Emperor Xiao Jing sent envoys multiple times to the Northern Territory's Demon Domain."
"For what purpose?" Zhang Ze asked curiously.
"I heard someone say that Emperor Xiao Jing intended to renew the White Emperor's Alliance.
"He wanted to give a large tract of land along the Southern Border and East Sea coasts to the Great Demons of the Demon Race, to have them move their clans there."
"And what about the North?" Zhang Ze asked.
"To be incorporated under the Empire's jurisdiction, governed by the Royal Family."
Zhang Ze clicked his tongue, thinking to himself that Emperor Xiao Jing must have lost his mind. Back then, his ancestors sent them to the frigid north to freeze like snowmen, and now he wants them to go south to play with cockroaches. It's no wonder no one agreed.
"Surely no one agreed, right?" Zhang Ze lightly patted Li, who was nestled in his arms, asking.
Yushu Lou, "Of course, not only did the Dongqi's sects and noble families residing in the East Sea and Southern Border oppose it, but even the Demon Race outright rejected the relocation."
"Do you think it's possible he started the war because of this rejection?" Zhang Ze asked.
Yushu Lou, "Not very likely, and even if it were true, he should have gone to fight the Demon Race. Why would he attack the barbarians instead? Is something wrong with him?" 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
Zhang Ze pondered for a moment but didn't pursue the matter further and instead began chatting with Yushu Lou about various unrelated topics.
Due to regaining some of his past memories, Zhang Ze had become skilled in artifact refining. He was now itching to carve a few arrays onto the exterior of Yushu Lou.
Alas, Yushu Lou's refusal left no room for negotiation.
Yushu Lou, "No way, not in this lifetime."
Seeing his craftsmanship was not trusted, Zhang Ze lost interest in staying there and prepared to go somewhere else for a stroll.
Just as he was about to leave, he remembered something and asked at the door.
"By the way, were the Demon Race back then the same as they are now?"
Hearing Zhang Ze's question, Yushu Lou seemed to be pondering his words. After a while, he replied.
"They were quite dignified back then; the situation wasn't as severe as it is now."
Zhang Ze nodded, thanked Yushu Lou, and then pushed open the door to leave.
Zhang Ze looked up and saw it was already noon. Thinking his little sister might not have intended for him to return home yet, he nudged Li perched atop his head.
"What shall we have for lunch?"
"Anything."
Li yawned, then climbed down from Zhang Ze's head, signaling for him to hold it.
"Anything? Then let's go to the pedestrian street and have pancakes," Zhang Ze said, cradling Li.
"I don't want that, I want meat..." Li turned over, snuggling closer into Zhang Ze's arms, muttering like in a dream.
Zhang Ze, "What kind of meat do you want?"
Li, "Anything."
Zhang Ze, "..."
Ignoring Li, Zhang Ze decided to go with pancakes, thinking that the pancakes in Thousand Mechanism Town can be topped with anything.
——I want the original flavor separator——
Li's divine skill of eating while sleeping never failed to amaze Zhang Ze, no matter how many times he witnessed it. Watching her munch on pancakes while sleeping was like watching a shredder that could only intake without output.
Just as Zhang Ze was about to order another pancake to watch again, someone quietly approached him from behind and pressed something hard against his lower back.
"Don't move, follow me."
The pancake stall owner turned his head upon hearing the voice. Recognizing the mugger as a regular customer, he put down his alarm artifact and continued making pancakes.
Zhang Ze, "Female Hero Li, what exactly are you after."
Li Yueqi, "No questions, just follow me, or else you'll be in trouble today if you don't."
With Female Hero Li pressing him, they passed through a narrow alley, taking several turns until they reached the back door of a shop. Once inside, they descended further until Zhang Ze was pushed into a pitch-black secret room.
Li Yueqi gave him a gentle push, leading Zhang Ze to the table, "Sit properly."
Zhang Ze, "There's no chair. Where should I sit?"
Li Yueqi, "Then stand properly."
Once Zhang Ze obediently stood by the table, she removed the hard object pressed against his waist and took the still-sleeping Li from his arms.
"Take this." She handed a pen to Zhang Ze.
"What's this for?" Zhang Ze didn't understand.
In the next second, several Light Gathering Arrays lit up. Xiaoxuan and Bai Tao appeared on either side of Li Yueqi like guardians, one handing Zhang Ze a stack of papers, the other pushing a wheelchair forward.
"Sit, write, and make up for all the chapters you've delayed over the past half month," Bai Tao said with her hands on her hips.
Zhang Ze was stunned for a while before realizing they were urging him to update "Taoist Path to Heaven."
Due to Zhang Ze entering the Jade Book Illusion Realm, the book had gone without updates for half a month.
Nonetheless, Bai Tao and Xiaoxuan, being avid literary enthusiasts, had every reason to urge updates—but why was Li Yueqi, a martial artist, getting involved in this?
As far as he remembered, she wasn't even interested in leisure reading...
While contemplating this matter, Zhang Ze quietly took a step back, intending to escape.
