Who Let Him Cultivate?!-Chapter 1073 - 1072: The Time Immortal’s Immortal Artifact
"This means that you, Senior Brother Fang, possess enormous good fortune."
Lu Yang stepped forward to congratulate him very tactfully, even happier than when he had gathered the map himself.
"Chen Yachong spent hundreds of years without obtaining the other two pieces of the map, yet Senior Brother Fang, you collected all of them in just one trip. What does this tell us? It shows that this map is fated to be yours!"
"Precisely, indeed, this must be an extremely auspicious sign." Meng Jingzhou also stepped forward to offer his congratulations; the two of them were so eloquent in their praise, lauding Fang Jin as if he were the chosen one.
The three pieces of the Jade Silk Map overlaid together revealed the true appearance of the map.
The map displayed a place called the Qinglian Mountain Range, with a circle drawn in the middle of the mountain range, which probably indicated something of significance there.
"Where is Qinglian Mountain Range?" Lu Yang and Meng Jingzhou looked at each other in confusion. They were not familiar with the names of various mountain ranges. Where was it located in Great Xia?
"Qinglian Mountain Range…" Fang Jin furrowed his brows, vaguely recognizing the name.
"If I remember correctly, the Qinglian Mountain Range was a name from the Great Qian Period."
"During the Great Yu Era, it was called the Jiangbei Hills."
"During the Great Xia Period, it was called the Tianhe Plain."
Lu Yang and Meng Jingzhou wore odd expressions; it seemed like the changes involved more than just the name.
"That’s quite normal. Have you not considered? During the Great Qian and Great Yu periods, there were many cultivators, and their battles were even more chaotic, often altering the landscape," explained Fang Jin.
"Over three hundred thousand years driven by human forces, seas turned into mulberry fields; the maps of those times have long since changed."
Fang Jin was well-versed in ancient maps; he remembered clearly all the changes in geography from the Great Qian to the Great Xia periods.
This ancient map was useful only in the hands of Fang Jin; other cultivators who obtained it could only stare at it helplessly.
"Let’s go check out the Tianhe Plain." With the ancient map in hand, Fang Jin was enthused.
Since he had gathered the ancient map through incredible coincidences, perhaps as Junior Brother Lu had said, the treasures were destined to be his.
The Tianhe Plain was abundant with water and grass, with cattle and sheep everywhere. When the three of them landed, they even startled a flock of sheep that scattered, leaving behind a field covered with droppings.
Some of the lambs unafraid, bleating as they charged towards the three men, were quickly snatched away by the ewes.
Fang Jin gestured; the site marked on the ancient map was rather large: "It should be around here."
He released his Spiritual Sense, scanning every inch of land within the range and discovered clues beneath the ground.
"It seems there is a Secret Realm underground; let’s dig and have a look," he suggested.
"Why bother digging? Just have Old Lu consume the dirt," proposed Meng Jingzhou.
Lu Yang kicked over; this place was full of sheep droppings, I’ll eat your grandpa.
Fang Jin and Lu Yang both employed the Law of Heaven and Earth while Meng Jingzhou deployed his Dharma Aspect; the three giants squatted down to dig the earth.
After digging about two thousand meters deep, the three of them encountered a stone that seemed embedded into the space itself, static even when the earth below was removed. They tried moving the stone but to no avail.
Fang Jin channeled spiritual essence into the stone, and the stone revealed complex patterns, ancient and mysterious. The stone exerted a powerful suction force, pulling all three of them in.
When the three regained their senses, all was pitch black around them.
"It seems that this place suppresses Spiritual Sense; we can’t utilize it here."
Meng Jingzhou looked up and ignited the Pure Yang Fire to illuminate the space.
"A cave?"
The three discovered they were in a damp and closed cavern, with no hint of a breeze, indicating the cavern was sealed.
"Is there a treasure in here?"
Just as Fang Jin was about to take a step forward, he suddenly heard Lu Yang’s voice.
"Senior Brother Fang, don’t move forward!"
Fang Jin abruptly stopped in his tracks, "What’s wrong?"
"There’s a restriction in front of you, if you continue, it will trigger the restriction, and it’s very dangerous!" Lu Yang warned solemnly.
Fang Jin jumped in fright and quickly retracted his left foot, crouching down to inspect the ground, he indeed found some incomprehensible runes, although they were fragmented.
"It seems this cave is filled with restrictions, but someone forced their way in and destroyed these runes," Lu Yang said, passing off the words of Immortal Fairy as his own speculation.
Even the runes that had been damaged contained an extremely terrifying power that was beyond their capability to touch.
"This method of setting up restrictions is like that of the Time Immortal," Immortal Fairy pondered, stroking her chin, "Since his true form is a tree, he always likes to bury things underground, making them very troublesome to find."
"Little Yang, you go ahead and walk. An idiot has already explored the way for you, and the obstructive restrictions have been destroyed. Just avoid touching the restrictions, and you’ll be fine."
"The trinket at the end of the cave should be created by the Time Immortal."
Lu Yang carefully bypassed the restrictions, leading Fang Jin and Meng Jingzhou to the deepest part of the cave, finding a small metal box roughly the size of a fist, placed on a high plinth.
Fang Jin used spiritual essence to form a large hand, taking the metal box from a distance. The box felt heavy in his hands.
"Is this made of Immortal Gold?!"
Fang Jin was astonished, for if it was made of Immortal Gold, then the metal box was at least a half-immortal crafted Immortal Treasure, and there was even a tiny chance it was crafted by an Immortal!
"Fairy, what is the purpose of this metal box crafted by the Time Immortal?"
Immortal Fairy pondered with frustration, "The little gadgets made by the Time Immortal look quite similar, and I always get them mixed up."
"However, judging by the style of this metal box, it seems to be an artifact that can slow down time."
Lu Yang was startled; an artifact that could slow down time sounded extraordinary. As expected of the Time Immortal, the effects of his crafted artifacts were so powerful.
"To use this box, there is an incantation, ’Immortal as Supreme, Time as King’, no, that’s not right. It’s ’Stars revolve as I command, the four seasons change in the blink of an eye.’ Also not right, what was it?"
"Why not just ask the Time Immortal?" suggested Lu Yang, thinking that if remembering was difficult, why not ask the person himself.
"No need, that’s too much trouble. Just open the ’Immortal’s Quotations’, pick out the words the Time Immortal has said, and read them one by one; the incantation will definitely be in there."
"...Alright then."
Fang Jin flipped through it for a long time, not knowing how to use the metal box, "Forget it, the master and the Supreme Elder have seen much and know much, let’s take it back for them to see."
The metal box belonged to the Time Immortal, and logically should be returned to its owner, but with Lu Yang’s status, it wasn’t appropriate for him to keep the box; it needed the Sect’s high-level members to step forward.
Lu Yang thought that he would have to speak to the Eldest Senior Sister and have her figure out a way to return it to the Time Immortal.
"Old Lu, there’s nothing dangerous about this metal box, is there?" Meng Jingzhou asked, uneasy.
"There shouldn’t be any danger. This is a great item left behind by the Time Immortal."
"That’s good then."
...
"Xiao Tian, do you think I was too harsh by making Little Meng and Little Lu do two months of pointless work at the Mountain Moving and Sea Filling Sect as a punishment?" The Third Elder had been troubled recently, wanting to discuss it with Yun Zhi, but since she couldn’t be found, she instead went to consult with the Third Senior Sister, Gan Tian.
Gan Tian thought to herself that she had assumed the Elder was using this opportunity to send them to learn the Law of Heaven and Earth and Dharma Aspect at the sect, but in reality, was it just a punishment?
"Should I call the Second-in-command back? I’ll go call her!" Yun Mengmeng volunteered eagerly.
