Chapter 67: Chapter 67: Cooperation Comes Knocking

Cecilia Quincy had a determined gleam in her eyes as she turned back to the kitchen to continue washing the fruit.

Originally, she wanted to come out and ask Kylie Dalton not to punish her like this, but now, she didn’t need to.

Elara Hale had been busy all morning, and during her lunch break, she visited The Warner Family’s health institution again. Senior Warner’s sudden change in attitude seemed too abrupt; she suspected there was some misunderstanding.

Moreover, as a competent salesperson, the most important thing is to seize every opportunity to promote your products. She had no reason to give up just like that.

But she didn’t tell Vera Ford and Jean Dunn, worried that she’d disappoint them after giving them hope.

Elara Hale stood outside the health institution, unable to even get through the gate this time. The security guard stopped her, "Sorry, Mr. Warner said you’re not allowed in anymore."

If Elara had any doubts before, she was sure now—Zayne Warner was indeed targeting her. The failed collaboration was also because of her.

But... why?

They had clearly hit it off that day. She hadn’t had any disputes with Zayne Warner before, nor recently, so why was he targeting her?

Elara didn’t become discouraged; she thanked the security guard and turned toward the trees by the roadside.

Taking out her phone, she called Zayne Warner, but no one answered after a long beep.

She sighed lightly and sent Zayne Warner a text message.

"Senior Warner, sorry to bother you. I’d like to know your reason for canceling the collaboration? There might be some misunderstanding you have about me. Even just as alumni, I’d like to know the reason."

The message failed to send; Zayne Warner had blocked her.

Elara laughed in frustration. What was this?

She felt somewhat defeated, but more so puzzled. She truly couldn’t understand why things had turned out like this.

She had been in the same club with Senior Warner for a long time back in university and thought she understood him; he was a very upright person, doing things openly and honestly. She hadn’t expected it to turn out this way.

At that moment, her phone rang. It was from an unknown number. Elara answered, "Hello, who is this?"

A polite male voice came from the other end, "Hello, is this Miss Hale?"

Elara quickly replied, "Yes, I am. And you are?"

The other person chuckled warmly, "I’m calling from Veritas Medical. We have a demand to purchase a batch of medical products, and Dr. Ford recommended you to us. I was wondering if Miss Hale is interested in a collaboration?"

Elara was stunned, "Felix Ford?"

He was the only Dr. Ford she knew.

The person continued with a smile, "Yes, Dr. Felix Ford. He is a guest professor at our institution and highly recommended you. If you have time, we could meet this afternoon."

Elara could hardly believe it—an opportunity fell right into her lap.

Veritas Medical was one of the top private hospitals in Northgarde, far surpassing Zenith Pharmaceuticals.

The fact that they reached out to her for collaboration indicated how significant Felix Ford’s role must have been.

She had only met him twice, and Felix likely did it out of respect for Zion Fitzwilliam.

Regardless, Elara made a mental note of this favor and replied, "I’m available this afternoon. Just let me know the time and location."

"How about two in the afternoon? You can come to my office for a chat." The person chuckled, "My last name is Chase, Xavier Chase, the Purchasing Manager of Veritas Medical. Just ask the front desk to contact me when you arrive."

"Alright." Elara responded promptly, "Thank you for your trust."

After hanging up, she thought for a moment and called Zion Fitzwilliam. The call was picked up almost immediately, his deep voice echoed in her ears.

"What’s up?"

Elara didn’t need to hide her excitement in front of him, "Zion, Dr. Ford introduced a business opportunity to me at Veritas Medical! I’m going to meet them this afternoon. No matter the outcome, I owe Dr. Ford a big thanks for his help."

She quickly added, "Dr. Ford must have helped me because of you. He’s really loyal. Can I treat you both to dinner tonight?"

She had already owed Dr. Ford favors twice before, and it was a perfect chance to express her gratitude.

Zion chuckled softly, his voice steady, "Felix has gone on a business trip outside the city for a couple of days. If you insist on treating someone, just treat me—and I’ll accept on his behalf."

Elara was slightly disappointed yet agreed, "Alright then, we’ll arrange it for when he’s back."

Zion responded with a hum, "Go ahead and focus on what you need to do first, then let me know once you’re done."

Elara smiled, "Okay."

After hanging up, she headed back to the company, gathering all the currently available products from drugs to instruments, loaded up a stack of materials, and rushed to Veritas Medical.

Meanwhile, Zion Fitzwilliam set down his phone, meeting Felix Ford’s amused gaze opposite him. "My sister-in-law invited me for dinner, and without asking me, you declined on my behalf. That’s quite unbrotherly of you, isn’t it?"

Zion glanced at him nonchalantly, "Are you sure?"

Felix recoiled slightly, "Forget it, I won’t bicker with you. There’s no love lost when it comes to being infatuated with someone else."

Zion laughed, suppressing his amusement, "Are you putting on an act now? Without my arrangement, would you have had a chance to talk to Xavier Chase? She should’ve thanked me from the start."

He shot him a glance, adding mockingly, "But you handled the photo situation well. I’ll deliver on what I promised earlier."

Felix’s eyes lit up instantly, "I was waiting for your word, Zion. Haha, I’ll tell my old man this good news tonight; see if he still calls me a waste!"

Zion acknowledged, "After all these years, Uncle should finally see you in a new light."

Felix’s expression darkened for a moment, humor turning to a bitter smile, "Well, let him think what he will. Despite all these years, my choice to study medicine remains a disgrace to him. As long as I don’t take over the company, he won’t be satisfied."

Zion looked at him with sympathy, "My condolences."

Felix burst out laughing in anger, "Shut up! Who needs your pity!"

...

Elara rushed to Veritas Medical, managing to arrive before two o’clock. She had initially assumed some protocols would be necessary even after Xavier arranged things with the front desk, but, surprisingly, as soon as she stepped inside, the receptionist beamed and asked, "Are you Miss Elara Hale?"

Elara was flattered and quickly replied, "Yes, I am. I’ve made an appointment with Mr. Xavier Chase."

The receptionist clasped her hands in front of her, smiling, "Mr. Chase has briefed me. Let me take you upstairs."

As she gestured invitingly, the elevator button was pressed,

Elara followed her to the sixth floor, to the office of the Purchasing Manager.

The receptionist knocked on the door, "Mr. Chase, Miss Hale has arrived."

Footsteps were heard inside, Xavier actually came over to open the door himself. He looked very gentlemanly, matching his voice, dressed in a white suit, and wearing gold-rimmed glasses. After courteously dismissing the receptionist, he extended his hand to Elara with a slight smile, "Miss Hale, I’ve heard a lot about you."

Elara shook his hand, and Xavier said, "Come in, let’s talk."

Elara initially thought Xavier just wanted to learn about the products, and a contract signing was still a long way off. Unexpectedly, after listening to her introduction, Xavier asked about the details of a few products and immediately decided, "Let’s go with these. Did you bring the contract?"

Elara was taken aback, "Huh? What contract?"

Xavier smiled, adjusting his glasses, "The purchase contract, of course. What else?"
