While I Was Giving Love Advice to My Best Friend, the School's Most Beautiful Girl Somehow Became the Closest Person to Me-Chapter 7Volume 1 .6 - The Revival of Love Consultations
The Revival of Love Consultations
“Pfft, scared of ghosts? That’s pathetic. I’ll lead the way!”
Wanting to look good in front of the girl he likes, Reo was puffing himself up to score points.
He really shouldn’t push himself.
“Well, if Asahina-san really can’t handle it, we can change to a different attraction.”
He probably hoped she would reject it, but the response was likely to be the opposite.

“Huh? I’m not scared! I made it through Horror World last time with Kogure-kun and Hiyori-chan, so it’ll be a breeze! Don’t underestimate me!”
She was terrified and crying last time, comforted by five-year-old Hiyori. And the memory of how cuddly she felt when she clung to me is still one of the best.
Even though they’ve gotten closer since then, Reo and Asahina-san still don’t mesh well.
Asahina-san agrees with Reo and Otsuki-san’s relationship, but she seems to dislike the idea of Otsuki-san paying less attention to her. And Reo dislikes that Asahina-san seems to be trying to one-up Otsuki-san.
Both of them come to me with their complaints, so it’s a bit awkward.
“Kogure-kun, what should we do?”
“Let’s go. Let’s do our best to support each other’s best friends this time.”
“Alright, let’s do this!”
So we entered Horror World, which was fine, but instead of the usual thirty minutes, it took us an hour to finally make it out.
Otsuki-san and I, being smaller, had a hard time moving around because our larger friends clung to us.
“You shouldn’t act so tough if you’re scared.”
“Ah, I didn’t know it was going to be that scary… I seriously can’t handle haunted houses anymore.”
“Wasn’t Alisa okay since she went before?”
“The event had changed. It wasn’t the Horror World I knew. Impossible.”
As soon as we entered, the screams of Reo and Asahina-san made it seem more like a horror show. After escaping the Horror World, we took a break on a bench outside.
Leaving the disheartened pair behind, Otsuki-san and I decided to go buy some drinks.
“Otsuki-san, you don’t seem too scared. Are you good with this kind of thing?”
“I might actually be on the weaker side. If it were my other childhood friend, she’d prefer a horror more than anything.”
Mizuhara Kokoro-san, another childhood friend of theirs. I’ve heard they’ve made up and are getting along well now… From what I’ve heard about her, she does seem like the type who’d handle ghosts well.
“If Alisa is this scared, I can’t afford to be scared, right?”
“They say you become calm when someone around you is more frightened.”
“I didn’t know Hirasawa-kun was such a scaredy-cat.”
“He has quite a few weaknesses. He’s scared of heights, thunder, and can’t handle spicy food. All that despite his big frame.”
“That’s just like Alisa. She bravely confronts the types of men she dislikes.”
“Ahaha, Reo has his cool moments too, so I hope you won’t be too disappointed.”
“I wouldn’t be. But Hirasawa-kun looking scared was kind of cute. Makes me want to comfort him.”
Otsuki-san must really like taking care of others. Maybe it’s better for Reo to show his genuine self rather than trying to be perfect.
We returned to the still gloomy pair and handed them water.
“So… what shall we ride next?”
“Let’s see. Ah, the scariest roller coaster only has a thirty-minute wait. Shall we go on it?”
Otsuki-san’s merciless suggestion made both Reo and Asahina-san shiver.
How could she suggest such a thing to two people who are afraid of heights?
As I was about to express my disbelief, Reo stood up.
“O-oh. Roller coasters are a piece of cake!”
His legs are trembling. Otsuki-san touched Asahina-san’s shoulder.
“Then shall the three of us go, and Alisa, you wait here?”
“No, don’t leave me alone! I’ll get caught by ghosts! Shizukuuuu!”
“Ah, Alisa being scared is cute.”
Sigh, can’t be helped.
“Let’s wander around the amusement park and maybe grab an early lunch.”
“Sounds good. Alisa, Hirasawa-kun, shall we go?”
“…”
“Kogure-kun, why are you staring at me?”
“Otsuki-san, you have a bit of an S side, don’t you?”
“Hmm, then I’d like to know what Kogure-kun dislikes. I’ve been really curious lately.”
“That’s scary. I’m afraid of girls like you, Otsuki-san. Ah, so scary.”
We decided to have an early lunch at a plaza where we could eat our brought-from-home bento.
It was quiet, so we spread out a sheet just like we would in the schoolyard, and Otsuki-san took out a large furoshiki-wrapped jubako.
The size was impressive, considering it was for four people. There were disposable plates, chopsticks, and even packets of soy sauce for convenience, along with antibacterial wet wipes and trash bags.
I had left everything to Otsuki-san again, but she really is perfect when it comes to preparation. I’m thoroughly outmatched.
When we opened the jubako, there was a variety of dishes, a mix of Japanese, Western, and Chinese cuisine, all looking delicious.
There was a noticeable black lump of meat mixed in, but I wondered if I should refrain from pointing it out.
“Wow, amazing! It looks really delicious.”
“Thank you both of you for preparing everything.”
“Did you know Alisa was going to help me?”
“Yes, so I was looking forward to it.”
“Huh… so that’s why you were so fired up.”
Asahina-san’s body twitched slightly. Otsuki-san looked at her with a grin spreading across her face, but I couldn’t quite grasp the intention behind their conversation.
“Well then… Kogure-kun, please go ahead.”
I received a pair of chopsticks from Otsuki-san and decided to try the food first. It would be best for Reo to taste Otsuki-san’s cooking first, so I should aim for Asahina-san’s dish… but which one is it?
No, I knew it. If it was made by someone who probably doesn’t cook much, it would undoubtedly be that slightly burnt lump of meat. Otsuki-san would never include something of such color. I understand this well, as I take pride in my own cooking.
With trepidation, I picked it up and put it in my mouth.
“Oh…”
It was a bit spicy, but surprisingly not that bad. Perhaps it was just a problem with the surface.
“The appearance was a bit off, but…”
Asahina-san looked anxious. I couldn’t tell if this was truly her first attempt at cooking, but seeing her like this, I wasn’t mean enough to give her a harsh critique.
“It’s good enough. I’ll have some more.”
“Really!?”
“Yes, you’ve worked hard. I didn’t expect it to taste like this with that color.”
“The flavor was something I managed to correct somehow, so it’s fine.”
I could sense all kinds of effort in the word “somehow.”
Asahina-san smiled with relief.
