When Will My Childhood Sweetheart Marry Me?-Chapter 67 - 0: Treat Me Better from Now On
Fortunately, by the time they reached the door of the medical room, someone very consciously put her down and bent down to ask her, "Can you go in by yourself?"
Jiang Shuyao was anxiously thinking about the registration and nodded eagerly to indicate she could.
She just wanted to rush him to hurry up.
The girl appeared carefree, which made Pei Yan chuckle. He reached out and touched her head, "Wait for me in the medical room after you get your medicine. We’ll go home together. Don’t go alone, understand?"
Given his understanding of her, it was very likely she would do something foolish.
An ordinarily carefree person suddenly becoming so naggy, Jiang Shuyao didn’t know whether to cry or laugh.
"There are only twenty minutes left until nine," she solemnly reminded him.
Pei Yan gave a low grunt in response, said nothing more, and turned to walk down the steps.
The campus was as quiet as ever. The young man’s firm silhouette quickly disappeared into the night, leaving Jiang Shuyao standing outside the medical room for a long time, unable to clearly describe her feelings at that moment.
It seemed, however, there was a flicker of realization.
Those twenty minutes seemed especially long to her; it had been a very long time since anything had made her feel this anxious.
Whether it was city competitions or major and minor tests at school, she faced them all with utmost calm.
But tonight, just taking such a small step towards her dreams was enough to use up all the courage she had accumulated over countless days and nights.
After taking the medicine, her stomach pain significantly eased.
Before leaving, the school doctor casually gave her a small bag of candy as a reward for visiting his humble abode.
Jiang Shuyao had been quite touched a moment ago, but felt confused hearing this.
It was not until she stepped out of the medical room that she, took advantage of the faint light, picked up the small bag of candy and saw the words "brown sugar ginger tea" written on it, unknowingly breaking into a knowing smile.
At nine o’clock sharp, Jiang Shuyao stood quietly by the flowerbed on the edge of the basketball court, waited five minutes, and then Pei Yan arrived.
The moon revealed a slight crescent, casting a pale halo under the young man’s unhurried feet as he walked up to her and stopped.
His eyes were deep and dark.
On this cold winter night, he was sweating all over.
His wet black hair, and a bag in his hand.
Before she could speak, Pei Yan began somewhat resentfully, "I told you not to run around and ignore my words."
She knew she would be scolded.
In a low voice, the girl muttered, "Being so fierce after doing a good deed, who could remember your kindness?"
"..."
That soft, whiny voice was really something.
Under the street lamp, Pei Yan stared at the girl’s innocent and appealing eyes, and gently tugged at his lip, "You still know I’m a good person, not bad for someone with such beautiful eyes."
Saying that, Jiang Shuyao knew things must have gone well.
With the weight off her heart, she looked up sincerely and thanked him.
"Thanks isn’t worth much. If you truly feel moved, treat me better from now on."
Seeing that her complexion had improved a lot, Pei Yan walked over, took her backpack from behind her, and with one hand carrying the bag and the backpack, began walking forward.
Jiang Shuyao quickly caught up.
It’s minimal courtesy to show fleeting warmth towards a benefactor.
Her soft laughter reached the ears of the person ahead, whose features gradually softened, his eyes crinkling with a mild warmth.
"If this could keep the girl happy, God should see and let him do this kind of shameless act a few more times tonight."
Once outside the school gate, a black sedan was already parked by the roadside with its hazard lights on.
Jiang Shuyao was slightly stunned, wondering when exactly the little rascal had called Uncle Li.
It was also when she opened the car door that she noticed something was off about him.
"What’s wrong with your hand?" Jiang Shuyao asked.
Since coming back from the internet café, he had kept his left hand in his pocket the whole time.
When getting into the car, Pei Yan subconsciously tried to use that hand to open the door but switched to his right hand halfway.
That momentary pause was clearly caught by Jiang Shuyao, who was extremely observant of people, and she could almost certainly tell that his left hand had issues.
Hearing her question, the person casually turned his face to look at the night scene out of the window, showing no intention of responding.
With Uncle Li driving in the front, it wasn’t suitable to ask further.
Jiang Shuyao lowered her eyes away from Pei Yan and murmured softly toward the driver’s seat, "Uncle Li, you can stop at the pharmacy near the neighborhood later, I need to buy something."
Uncle Li nodded in response.
Immediately showing concern, he asked, "Miss Shuyao, are you ill? If you feel unwell, I can take you directly to the hospital now."
The girl shook her head and sneakily glanced at the person beside her.
"I’m not sick, the medicine is for someone else."
In the backseat corner, Pei Yan’s hand tucked in his pocket tensed.
