When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster-Chapter 911: Someone’s Getting Anxious
Recently, Simon Xavier noticed that his wife was paying a lot of attention to this young lady and felt that this might not necessarily be a good thing.
After all, directing one’s longing towards the wrong person would only result in disappointment.
She couldn’t stay at the manor forever, and one day her memory would return. His wife was a sentimental person, and he didn’t want her to experience the pain of separation again.
After all, they already had Rhiannon. Rhiannon was raised by the couple and initially was also meant to fulfill their longing for a daughter.
Rhiannon Xavier was the daughter of a neighboring friend. She didn’t originally bear the Xavier surname, nor was she originally named Rhiannon; the new name was given by Mrs. Xavier after she came to the Xavier Family.
After the tragic car accident that claimed the lives of the neighboring friends, the kind-hearted couple took the poor little girl into the Xavier Family, treated her as their own daughter, raised her, provided her with a noble status, a luxurious life, and sent her abroad to study.
"Wife, this girl is different. A friend sensed our family’s aura changing recently and said that we’ve encountered a benefactor. I think it must be her."
"But adopting a daughter is something we must consider carefully. After all, we know nothing about her background, not even which family she’s from."
"Oh, I’m not planning to adopt her. I just wanted to tell you that when I saw her, I felt an inexplicable sense of familiarity."
Rhiannon Xavier felt heartache and stopped listening. She turned around and went back to her bedroom, driving the maid out, "Go, go, go, close the door, I want to be alone!"
Sitting angrily at the table, she was utterly flustered! Mother’s heart had already tilted towards that girl of mysterious origin!
Father loved mother dearly, so in Rhiannon Xavier’s eyes, it was only a matter of time before mother would recognize that girl as her daughter.
Mother liked her, which is why she often visited her and even personally made porridge to feed her!
Rhiannon Xavier felt her status immediately plummet, facing a clear threat!
No, no!
She couldn’t just watch the situation develop in an unsatisfactory direction, so she got up and left, looking around the courtyard in anger, slipping unnoticed to the room where the girl stayed.
Standing at the door, Rhiannon was thinking about how to get Old Mr. Downey out of the way, because there were things she wanted to say privately to that girl.
But as she stepped into the room, it happened that the old gentleman wasn’t there.
Upon hearing footsteps and realizing they weren’t the footsteps of the old doctor, the girl lying in bed slowly opened her eyes.
From the corner of her eye, she saw a young girl enter and slightly turned her head.
Rhiannon Xavier stood by the bed, and the two of them locked eyes.
The girl lying there realized the visitor wasn’t kindly inclined since there was not a hint of warmth in those eyes. So, she forced herself to sit upright with her frail body.
Rhiannon, impeccably dressed, didn’t lend a hand. Despite her delicate makeup, she felt a core of aversion towards the girl in the bed, looking down at her aloofly.
The girl sat up, meeting the unfriendly gaze with her own, unsure of what the other girl intended.
Not knowing Rhiannon’s identity either, she was at a loss for words, "Miss, are you looking for me... for something?"
"Of course!" Rhiannon replied with a smile, directly revealing her identity, "I’m Rhiannon Xavier, the eldest daughter of the Xavier Family."
The girl was taken aback.
She had seen the Xavier Family members earlier and assumed Rhiannon was a guest there since Young Master Xavier hadn’t introduced her.
She remembered Rhiannon standing next to Young Master Xavier at the time.
This detail left the girl sitting on the bed a bit puzzled, but still, she politely and humbly greeted, "Hello, Miss Xavier."
"I came here today mainly to remind you of something." Rhiannon said, eager to explain the situation before Old Mr. Downey returned, wasting not a second.
"I just passed my parents’ room and heard them arguing." Rhiannon’s face was cold and slightly troubled.
