When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster-Chapter 898: Brother-in-Law’s Well-Intentioned Efforts
"Do you remember what you told me in the car the day your mom and I brought you to school?"
Adrian Lancaster felt like it was still ringing in his ears. He turned his gaze and reminded, "Right at the spot where you’re sitting now."
He said he had made a study plan.
Thinking of the promise he had made, Milo Turner felt very guilty. He failed to stay disciplined just after school started, wanting to play when he saw others playing, and today, he even sneaked into a bar.
This is really not what a college student should do.
"I’m sorry, I was wrong." Milo Turner felt guilty on one hand and scared on the other, "Brother-in-law, I won’t do it again."
He was afraid to face his mother who had high hopes for him. His sister’s situation had already broken his mother’s heart recently.
"Brother-in-law... I just... really miss my sister."
Seeing Adrian Lancaster not speaking, he weakly brought up his brother-in-law’s soft spot, hoping he wouldn’t be angry for his sister’s sake.
"Precisely because your sister isn’t here, I have to take on this responsibility." The man’s thin lips parted slightly, "It’s not wrong to miss your sister, but you shouldn’t fall into decadence, mixing in bars just after school started? And... look at the friends you hang out with. You say you miss your sister, but they only care about your brother-in-law’s identity."
Milo Turner hung his head, unable to refute.
Adrian Lancaster also knew well about the expenses here. Coming once or twice might be affordable.
But when it becomes an addiction, the cost is certainly unaffordable.
When a person’s wallet doesn’t match their desires, coupled with some shady friends, the wrong path is set.
Facing his brother-in-law’s questioning, Milo Turner immediately hung his head, not daring to make a sound.
He was truly angry, but as an elder, Adrian Lancaster restrained himself as much as possible, "Milo, missing your sister is normal. No one doesn’t miss her, but..." he felt a sting of grief in his heart.
"But, this can’t be our reason for decadence." The man suppressed his inner anguish, "Even if, taking an extreme scenario, your sister were truly gone, I believe she has a spirit watching over us. If she knew you squandered your studies just after school started, she’d be heartbroken because this university was achieved after you toiled countless nights, with immeasurable effort."
As the Lamborghini drove towards the city, getting closer to home, Milo Turner’s drunkenness faded. Remembering his brother-in-law bringing him food and tutoring him every night during the final sprint of his senior year, he felt increasingly regretful.
He also felt sorry for his sister...
Adrian Lancaster finally handed him over to Chloe Gable. When Teacher Gable found out, she was so angry she hit him directly—
"Milo Turner, are you crazy? You’re still a student! You actually touched alcohol!! Do you know your dad became addicted to alcohol, made some shady friends, and ended up taking the wrong path, leading to gambling?"
Chloe Gable started beating him but Milo Turner wasn’t a three-year-old child, he instinctively dodged.
Running might have been better, but fleeing in rage, Chloe Gable grabbed a feather duster, lifted him by the collar, and began hitting him, "You’re driving me mad!"
Milo Turner regretted with all his heart. He knew he was wrong, and he didn’t blame his brother-in-law for telling.
Chloe Gable’s blows were hitting him genuinely, filled with deep disappointment.
Seeing this, Adrian Lancaster took a few steps back and turned to leave.
The moment the door closed, Chloe Gable hit her son a few more times, then sat on the sofa, crying out of anger.
"Mom!" Milo Turner quickly knelt down, tears streaming, "I really know I was wrong! I’ll never do it again!"
