Chapter 810: Chapter 810: Can’t Wait to Announce

Soon, it was Monday, the day Rachel Sherman officially reported to the Fletcher Group.

Before this, she had completed the onboarding procedures with HR, which led to a lot of rumors—

"Who is this Rachel Sherman? Her resume is completely blank, and yet she got an internal referral to be President Fletcher’s secretary."

"I heard she’s a reporter, but I’m not sure. Xiao’s sister has a colleague named Rachel Sherman who just left her job, saying she’s joining our Fletcher Group."

"A reporter becoming a secretary? Is this for real? Trying to dig up some dirt or something?"

"Is this even considered work experience?" someone questioned, "To be President Fletcher’s secretary, don’t you need at least five years’ experience in the company? That’s a known requirement!"

"I don’t know, but since she got this position through connections, she must have some background."

"Then what about Assistant Fletcher? Will Reporter Sherman edge out Assistant Fletcher?"

"Probably not. Can she handle it? The assistant’s job isn’t easy. Maybe they’ll split the tasks."

"I heard she’s joining next Monday? Is this confirmed?"

"Yes."

...

This morning, at around seven, the doorbell at Rachel Sherman’s house rang, as she had just gotten out of bed and quickly went to answer the door.

Standing outside was none other than Chase Fletcher.

He was dressed in a custom-made, pure black, handmade suit, looking strikingly sharp, with a bag in his hand, presumably having brought her breakfast.

"Morning!" The man smiled, lifting the bag in his hand, happily looking at her.

Rachel didn’t let him in right away. Instead, she held the doorknob, furrowing her brow, "You wouldn’t be here to pick me up, would you?"

"What else?" He raised an eyebrow, "My car is right downstairs."

Rachel felt the pressure, sighing, "Come on, didn’t we discuss this over the phone last night? I’m not going with you."

"You’re my girlfriend, you know. People will find out sooner or later." Chase was eager to announce it to the world and had no intention of keeping it a secret.

But Rachel felt a bit of pressure, "Can you give me some time? I haven’t even adjusted to the job, and now I have to handle public pressure too. Have you thought about how I feel?"

She opened the door and walked inside.

Chase followed her in, "So, about us being in a relationship, do you mean we should keep it a secret for now?"

He wanted to hear her thoughts, following closely behind her, "When can we announce it then? How about a month?"

Yes, he was that impatient!

He was afraid that some clueless guy in the company might hit on his Rachel.

"..." Rachel didn’t really know either, she was a bit headachey, "But... but we have to take it step by step, right?"

"Miss Sherman, what exactly are you afraid of?" Chase asked in a lighthearted tone, smiling, "Are you planning to back out?"

"I..." She stopped in her tracks, suddenly turning to face him, nearly bumping into him.

"June is still at my place, I’m telling you, she’s a hostage right now! If you don’t go with me, you won’t see your daughter!"

Rachel looked at him with a very strange expression!

As if she didn’t know him!

But then she couldn’t help herself and burst into laughter, "Didn’t expect you to have this side!"

"You better think this through!" he said with a slightly serious expression, as if discussing business.

Rachel played along, "Okay, okay, I’ll think it through carefully."

"Here, breakfast!"

"Thank you, President Fletcher!" She happily reached out to take it, sat down at the dining table with him, and shared half with him, "Care to share some tips on being a secretary?"

He blurted out, "Don’t get too close to any man, except me."

"..." The woman was at a loss for words.
