When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster-Chapter 671: Suddenly Realizing Something Is Wrong
"Alright, alright!" Nanny Warren was very happy, "I’ll get it right away!" She turned and headed to the jewelry box.
At this moment, Eliza Hayes felt like it was her wedding day.
She was filled with anticipation and happiness, even to the point of being a little flustered and blushing with excitement, her heart racing.
Eliza dressed as quickly as she could and put on her earrings and bracelets. She sat in front of the mirror, touching up her makeup, applying a bit of blush intentionally.
Nanny Warren helped her style her hair and inserted a vintage sandalwood hairpin.
Every minute and second now was full of anticipation for Eliza Hayes.
She had found Caleb...!
Finally, she had found Caleb!
For this long-awaited reunion, she had to present herself in the best possible way in front of him.
"Thanks to Faye Turner. This child is truly a blessing for the Lancaster Family. Since she married into the family, things have always been moving in a good direction." Eliza Hayes couldn’t help but express this sentiment.
Nanny Warren agreed wholeheartedly.
After the mistress and servant duo went downstairs, they saw the old master had also dressed up, just to look less aged when meeting his son. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
It was time to go. Adrian Lancaster’s men drove everyone away.
On the way, everyone’s mood was incredibly excited.
"Why isn’t Caleb returning to the old house?" Sitting in the car, Eliza Hayes had this curiosity and looked towards the young man driving.
A brief silence filled the car.
The young man driving glanced through the rearview mirror, realizing the lady was asking him.
Having worked alongside the boss for many years, he naturally could discern his intentions.
Why bring them here?
Because he feared explaining the truth over the phone, fearing they couldn’t bear it.
So, he couldn’t say anything, just hinting with a smile, "We can’t quite grasp the boss’s intentions; he just instructed me to pick everyone up, and we’ll be there soon."
"Is it really Caleb?" She was so expectant that she almost couldn’t believe it.
"Yes," he answered confidently, "it’s Mr. Lancaster."
"How did Adrian find him?"
"I don’t know much about that; I don’t handle that aspect." That was his response.
Eliza stopped questioning, tightly clasping her hands together, turning her gaze to the scenery outside the window.
Soon, the car stopped in the villa courtyard.
Without waiting for the person already there to open the car door, Eliza stepped out on her own, not considering the old master. She lifted her skirt and ran towards the living room!
She was so eager.
It was like a slow-motion scene in a movie—
"Caleb! Caleb!!"
"Caleb!"
She called out his name with deep emotion, anticipation, and happiness!
Upon rushing into the living room, Faye Turner and Adrian Lancaster rose from the sofa, immediately noticing their mother dressed to the nines today!
Rushing in as fast as she could, Eliza didn’t see the person she yearned to see.
Seeing her son and daughter-in-law, her blood turned cold instantly, her smile faded, "Where’s Caleb?" A bad premonition enveloped her.
Seeing the disappointment on her mother’s face, Adrian quickly raised the corners of his lips, walking towards her with a relaxed demeanor, "Dad’s resting in the master bedroom upstairs."
Light rekindled in the middle-aged woman’s eyes!
This should not be false.
At this time, Nanny Warren helped the old master inside.
"Grandpa," Adrian Lancaster and Faye Turner both greeted him.
After entering, the old master looked around, his first words were also, "Where’s Caleb? Didn’t you say you’ve found him? Where is he?"
"Grandpa, Dad’s resting upstairs." Adrian Lancaster, smiling, spoke casually.
Eliza Hayes could wait no longer. She stepped towards the stairs, holding the railing as she rushed upstairs, her pace quickened, and her figure soon disappeared around the staircase corner.
When she reached the master bedroom door, she paused, seeing several medical staff dressed in white inside the open doorway.
She suddenly felt something was amiss, steadied her emotions, and stepped forward one step at a time, letting her gaze fall onto the spacious, soft bed...
There was someone lying there, covered with a thin quilt, his hands resting outside the quilt, lying quietly, the rise and fall of his chest so weak it seemed he might already be dead.
