When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster-Chapter 665: My Husband Is the Head of the Family
She often repents, tearfully saying, "I’ve been very selfish. For the past twenty years, I’ve been in constant torment..."
"I considered returning him, but when I discovered someone else had taken Caleb’s place and also became a vegetative state, I abandoned the thought because..."
"Because no one would believe my words. After Caleb’s car accident, his face was injured. Later, when I used some savings for his treatment, I directly had him undergo plastic surgery. He bears a seventy-percent resemblance to his past self, but isn’t exactly the same..."
Faye Turner listened patiently to her without interruption throughout.
Watching the woman’s tearful eyes, her haggard and aged appearance, torn and regretful, Faye felt no sympathy but instead thought of her mother-in-law, Eliza Hayes.
For twenty years, her mother-in-law has intensely missed her husband, able only to hold onto photo albums or see him in dreams.
That accumulated longing drove her to frantically torment the troublemaker Victor Peterson, leading to a psychological breakdown.
"Mrs. Lancaster..."
Claire Keller respected her greatly, "I have now decided to return Caleb to your family, only you have the means to save him, to heal him."
Faye Turner felt heavy-hearted, uncertain of how her mother-in-law would face this revelation.
Her husband, her beloved man, stolen and occupied by another woman for over twenty years.
Claire Keller didn’t know what else she could say; her counterpart remained unresponsive and she couldn’t fathom the young girl’s thoughts.
She only knew from the news that this girl named Faye Turner, not a naïve sweetheart, managed to win over Adrian Lancaster, becoming Mrs. Lancaster, and was deeply adored by the Lancaster Family’s elder, definitely owing to her wisdom.
"Mrs. Lancaster, please save him..." Claire suddenly thought about human nature — perhaps she didn’t want to accept this big trouble, "He’s your father-in-law; he’s President Lancaster’s biological father."
Faye Turner snapped back to reality, focused her gaze on her, "Do you think I’m unwilling to save him?"
"..." The woman remained silent.
Faye Turner took a deep breath, "Consider how you’ll face my mother-in-law; you probably know her, could be considered old friends."
Claire dared not face this; all she wanted was to escape.
Faye said to her, "First, I’ll call my husband. Such a big issue has to be reported to him first."
Speaking, she pulled out her phone, dialing while saying to her, "Once my husband returns, I’ll go with you."
She wasn’t the impulsive type, nor seeking credit; pregnant with a baby, this Claire Keller also had some tact.
In the Prestige Group’s President’s office, Adrian Lancaster had just grabbed some documents, preparing for a meeting.
The phone rang, it was his wife calling; as he exited the office, he answered, "Hey honey, missing me so soon?"
"Adrian, can you come home?" Faye gently asked, "I miss you."
From his wife’s tone, nothing suggested unhappiness or anything else.
"Now?" Adrian glanced at his watch, softly asking, "Can it wait until after my meeting? Just half an hour."
"Sure." The woman sat serenely on the sofa, her face gentle with a smile, "I’ll wait for you then."
"Alright." He felt happy, never finding her clingy.
This sense of being needed made Adrian Lancaster feel greatly valued.
In the villa’s vast and stylish living room.
Faye Turner and Claire Keller sat across the table; she put down her phone, personally pouring two cups of tea, handing over one.
"Thank you." Claire reached out to receive it, somewhat apprehensive.
She couldn’t discern what the other intended nor understood what Adrian Lancaster discussed with her over the phone.
As a woman, Faye, taking this time, wanted to chat with her.
