When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster-Chapter 661: Knocking on the Door on a Rainy Night
Faye Turner and Adrian Lancaster withdrew their gaze, as Dr. Aiken came to himself and began preparing the medicine for them.
About five minutes later, the couple took the medicine and left.
On the way back to the old mansion, the Lamborghini moved steadily.
Faye leaned on Adrian’s shoulder, glanced out the window at the scenery, and unconsciously recalled the previous scene, still feeling that the woman was somewhat strange.
Yet she couldn’t pinpoint what was amiss.
Back at the old mansion, Faye instructed Nanny Warren on the precautions for preparing the medicine, then stayed to watch over a batch, and saw Eliza Hayes drink it.
She stood at the bedside wearing a mask, "Mom, if you drink the medicine on time, the effect should be immediate. Don’t hold on when you’re sick, tell me promptly."
"Alright, thank you, Faye." Eliza Hayes felt very warm-hearted, looking at her and then at her son, a weak smile on her face, "You should head back early and rest."
"Okay."
Waving goodbye, Adrian Lancaster left with Faye.
On the way home, Faye tiredly leaned on his shoulder, and her mind flashed again to the image of that woman...
What is she hiding from?
Night fell, and the sky was overcast with dark clouds, fierce winds blowing, causing the branches to sway madly, it seemed like it was going to rain.
After Faye and Adrian Lancaster returned home, he prepared cozy pajamas for her.
Then he filled the bathtub with warm water, "Dear, go take a bath." and planted a gentle kiss on her forehead.
Faye closed her eyes blissfully, then hugged him and turned to step toward the bathroom.
While she went for a bath, Adrian Lancaster approached the window.
His gaze was gentle and deep, as he took out his phone and dialed Nanny Warren, softly asking, "Nanny Warren, has my mom’s fever gone down?"
The phrase ’my mom’ warmed and moved Nanny Warren deeply.
"Yes, it’s gone down." Nanny Warren replied happily, turning to glance at the bed and whispered, "Madam has already fallen asleep, don’t worry, this medicine is highly effective."
"Okay." He truly felt at ease, "Then you should also rest early, thank you for your hard work."
"Of course, you too should rest early."
Adrian Lancaster hung up the phone.
Nanny Warren smiled as she held the phone, and looked at the woman lying in bed with open eyes, smiling as she walked over, "It was Young Master Lancaster’s call, he’s concerned about your health, asked if your fever has gone down, he cares so much!" 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Hearing this, Eliza Hayes felt her cold almost completely gone, her heart warm like a small sun in the winter.
Outside, the drizzle began to fall.
When Faye came out after her bath, the rain poured down forcefully, as if the whole world was left with only the sound of wind and rain.
Soon spring will be here...
At eleven at night, torrential rain fell with thunder and lightning, and there were hardly any pedestrians left on the streets.
The middle-aged woman wearing a scarf and hat, holding a large black umbrella, arrived outside Dr. Aiken’s clinic.
She urgently, desperately knocked on the tightly closed door, with tears mixed with rain on her face, looking disarrayed and soaked.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The knocking continued, quickly drowned out by the sound of wind and rain.
Five minutes later, Dr. Aiken, dressed in pajamas, finally opened the door, "..." Seeing her disheveled figure outside, his chest tightened suddenly, could hardly believe his ears!
"Dr. Aiken..." Her nose turned sour, as if seeing a savior.
He reached out to pull her in, seeing her drenched, Dr. Aiken sighed heavily, "You..." what could he say to her?
"Please go see him, he’s not doing well..." Tears of desperation ran from her eyes, overwhelmed with panic, her usual elegance lost.
