When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster-Chapter 622: Ordinary Days
"Mom." Adrian Lancaster and Faye Turner spoke in unison, happiness written all over their faces.
While heading towards the kitchen, Adrian Lancaster asked, "How many more dishes are left? Should I fry something?" Though he was asking, he had already decided to cook.
"No, no, no, there’s no need. I’ll be done soon." Chloe Gable smiled as she gently placed the plate she was holding onto the dining table, "Just one fish left."
"Then let me do it." Adrian Lancaster arrived at the kitchen door, shedding all his regal aura, projecting an incredibly warm presence, "Mom, I’ve been learning to make soup for Faye recently, let’s see how my skills are."
"No, no, no, how can that be?" Despite him being the son-in-law, Chloe Gable couldn’t ignore his identity as President Lancaster.
So esteemed, born with a silver spoon, shouldn’t be in the kitchen.
At this moment, Faye Turner laughed as she walked over to her, "It’s alright, Mom, let him do it. His cooking skills have improved and he wants to show off, give him a chance!"
As she spoke, she took the apron off her mother and waved it towards Adrian Lancaster, "Here you go!"
Adrian Lancaster gladly accepted it, then put it on and tied the straps, heading into the kitchen.
"Faye..." Chloe Gable felt really embarrassed, "This...this isn’t proper, is it?" Feeling a bit uneasy.
"There’s nothing wrong, we’re all family." Faye Turner held her hand, "Come, come, I’ve got two custom outfits for you, let’s try them on and see if they fit!"
Seeing nearly ten large bags on the sofa, the middle-aged woman was shocked again, "Why did you buy so many things? Must have cost a pretty penny, right?"
"Not too expensive, just some essentials." Faye Turner picked a square box from a heap of bags and handed it to Milo Turner, "Milo, this is the laptop for you, the latest model bought by your brother-in-law!"
"Huh?!" The big boy was stunned for a few seconds, then excitedly rushed over to grab it, shouting towards the kitchen, "Thanks, brother-in-law!" He was absolutely thrilled!! This model not only helps with studying, but it’s super fast for gaming too!
"You’re welcome! Study well!" Adrian Lancaster’s happy voice came from inside—
"Getting into college is key to finding a good job! And you must learn your major well! Otherwise, I won’t pull strings for you, the knowledge you gain is the only thing that’s truly yours!"
"Got it!" Milo Turner was very happy, sitting down to unbox it.
His grades had improved a lot recently, ranking 57 places higher in the semester exams.
Just one extra point could knock out a whole field!
Seeing her son’s progress, Chloe Gable was pleased too.
"Mom, come, come, try this coat first, I think the pattern suits you perfectly."
"And this, Adrian brought it back a few days ago from a business trip abroad, it’s a sleeping aid, very convenient, just mix it with warm water before bed."
"And this..."
In the living room, Faye Turner helped her mother try on clothes while Milo tested his new computer, everyone was very happy.
In the kitchen, President Lancaster transformed into a chef; his nearly six-foot-three stature with an apron added a touch of cuteness.
Since they had agreed to dine here, they deliberately didn’t eat too much earlier at The Lockwood Old Manor.
Both sides had elders, and sometimes it’s the responsibility of the younger generation to consider everyone’s emotions.
What is commonly known as keeping a level playing field.
Actually, the dining atmosphere here was completely different from that at The Lockwood Old Manor.
Although Adrian Lancaster grew up there, he preferred the atmosphere at Teacher Gable’s home.
There’s no sumptuous feast here, just homely dishes, no sycophancy nor numerous rules and etiquettes.
Here, one could relax both body and mind, enjoying ordinary and simple days.
And Teacher Gable always cared most about their health; during meals, she even asked, "What time have you all been sleeping lately? Are you staying up late?" Never asking about company performance, project plans, or quarterly finances.
"If we don’t stay up late, can we still be young?" Milo Turner replied, then glanced at his sister and brother-in-law, teasing, "Bet they do."
"You brat!" Faye Turner reached out and slapped his shoulder, "Mom’s just worried about us; even if we do stay up late, we can’t admit it!"
