When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster-Chapter 618: Someone Is Completely Panicking
Melanie Lancaster sat on the sofa, accompanying her father in another game of chess. There wasn’t much exchange between the mother and daughter; she was cautious.
Wrapped in mink, she could feel the unusual atmosphere in the living room; the old man was displeased.
She didn’t dare to breathe heavily nor raise her eyes to look at her father. This disappointing son of hers lacked strategy in his words and often shot himself in the foot.
The old man placed his chess pieces in silence.
Melanie wondered whether her father knew about the sham involving Caleb Lancaster... or did he not?
At this moment, in the kitchen, four Italian chefs were diligently busy, with several servants assisting. The aroma of delicious dishes gradually wafted in the air.
The Lancaster Family’s New Year’s Eve had a naturally abundant menu.
Many ingredients had been airlifted from abroad just this noon.
In the brightly lit living room, Brandon Lancaster stood not far away, unsure whether to sit or stand, until he was brought back to his thoughts by his phone vibrating in his palm.
Picking up his phone, he saw a message reply from Elias Young, asking him to call back.
Brandon glanced at the figure disappearing into the backyard, then at his mother and grandfather playing chess. With a heart full of trepidation, he turned and stepped outside.
Just as he stepped out of the living room, a chill hit him, and the moonlight reflected on the snow.
He arrived under the camphor tree, cautiously scanning his surroundings. Not even a bird was in sight. He picked up his phone and dialed the number.
The ringtone was brief. His call was promptly answered, "What did you say? Black Hawk didn’t succeed? That woman is still alive?!"
Elias Young’s incredulous voice came through, and he was extremely startled.
Brandon Lancaster lowered his voice, "Absolutely true, Adrian Lancaster brought her back to the old house for New Year’s Eve. I even ran into them; both the child and she are perfectly fine."
"It’s over, it’s over..." Elias Young, upon hearing this, felt a chill of fear, "Black Hawk fell into Adrian Lancaster’s trap and must have been captured." 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
He had received a message from Black Hawk that day, claiming to have captured Adrian Lancaster’s woman and would take care of her completely.
But if she had been captured, how could she be unharmed?
"Mr. Young, what should we do now?" Brandon felt unwilling, "This child must not be born! If he is, that’s one more person vying with me for the position of Prestige CEO!"
Elias Young abruptly hung up the phone, scared and completely panicked.
He no longer cared about the Prestige CEO role. If Black Hawk was under Adrian Lancaster’s control, he could become a sharp weapon to bring down Elias Young.
Because Black Hawk knew too much.
Brandon Lancaster listened to the busy tone from the other end, completely unaware of the severity of the situation. He was still preoccupied with his CEO position, oblivious that his life was at risk.
In the living room on the third floor of the backyard, the warm yellow light illuminated a room with a Chinese-style decor.
Adrian Lancaster presented his mother with a custom-made dark green cheongsam, beautifully packaged in an exquisite box.
As the box was opened under the light, the fabric and craftsmanship, along with the exquisite embroidery, left her utterly delighted, unable to control her smile.
"I hope you like it." Seeing his mother’s happiness, Adrian Lancaster, though expressionless, felt quite pleased inside.
"I love it, love it!" Eliza Hayes looked up; it had been a long time since she felt this happy.
She looked at her son, excitedly saying, "Adrian, I love it so much, thank you, Adrian. I’ll wear it every day in summer!"
Her son had given her a gift! This was a tremendous joy.
"Nanny Warren, quickly help me hang it up!" She was genuinely overjoyed.
"Yes, madam." Nanny Warren was also very happy, promptly taking the cheongsam with a broad smile and leaving.
This was the first gift from her son, carrying immense significance.
"Mom." Faye Turner handed over a small, delicate box, "This is a brooch I designed and made for you, a unique piece. I hope you like it."
