Chapter 522: Chapter 522: Good News in Dire Straits

"Grandpa, can I go up and take a look?" Faye Turner asked with great anticipation, promising, "I won’t mess with anything inside, I just want to have a look."

The old man saw her friendly face, as she had come twice before.

So he nodded in agreement, "Third floor, the first room at the top of the stairs, the door isn’t locked; the lock is a bit rusty."

"Mm-hmm." Faye nodded, "Thank you, Grandpa."

"Go on, go on," the old man told her, having no reservations about her at all, and he understood the purpose of her second visit.

There must be something on Gale Peterson that she needed, it wasn’t just a simple friendship.

Gale Peterson is already 70, how could he have such a young friend?

Because the small building was somewhat dilapidated, and there was no one living upstairs, plus Gale Peterson had recently passed away, it inevitably felt a bit eerie.

Before going upstairs, Faye called on Drake and Tiger at the door.

The two accompanied Faye as she went upstairs.

"Careful, madam." The staircase was narrow, covered in dust; they paid particular attention to Faye’s feet, fearing she might slip.

The lady instructed, no matter what happens, protecting madam’s safety is the top priority.

"You guys be careful too, it’s a bit dark upstairs," Faye said considerately, "the lighting isn’t great."

Drake went ahead, Faye in the middle, Tiger followed behind.

The three quickly arrived on the third floor.

The house was from the 70s or 80s, full of a sense of age, not only were the walls mottled, even the doors had lost their paint, and everywhere was covered in dust.

The lighting on the third floor was not very good.

"This is the room," Faye told them.

Drake raised his hand to open the door. In the light coming through the window, dust particles could be seen swirling clearly in the air.

The room was filled with a strong musty smell of books, a bit pungent, causing a few coughs.

Drake raised his hand to block it, saying worriedly, "The air isn’t very fresh. There’s a mask in the car; shall I go down and get it?"

"It’s okay." Faye was not the pampered type, "Help me find a notebook, perhaps there’s some handwritten diaries or notes."

Saying this, she started looking through the bookshelf herself, not minding the dust everywhere at all.

"Alright."

Drake and Tiger went into action, searching on the desk, in the drawers, and on the shelves.

"Make sure to put things back in their original places, don’t mess them up," Faye reminded them; this was the minimum respect for Gale Peterson, even though he had already passed away.

Meanwhile, Adrian Lancaster, in order to help Faye find her birth parents, had already driven alone to an address.

This family had moved several times, unable to be contacted until now, a family who lost a daughter around 2004. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

They had sold the old house.

Adrian Lancaster walked into the dim hallway, arriving on the third floor, politely knocking on the door.

After a while, a middle-aged woman opened the door.

Seeing the handsome young man in a suit outside, she was momentarily stunned, as if a TV drama’s male lead had entered reality.

Too unreal!

"Hello, ma’am." Adrian Lancaster was elegant and gentle, with a faint smile, "I would like to ask you about some information regarding the previous owner, Mr. Reynolds."

"I don’t have his contact info," the middle-aged woman replied, puzzled, "Someone just asked about it a few days ago, why? Did he do something illegal?"

Before Adrian Lancaster could answer, the woman distanced herself, saying, "I don’t know him; I bought this house through official channels!"
