When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster-Chapter 516: He’s Here
Rachel Sherman nodded, feeling quite awful, "In the end, it was misplaced trust; you see someone’s character after a breakup." Her eyes welled up with tears as she forced herself to hold back the bitterness and turned to look out the car window.
Faye Turner saw her wipe her tears with her hand and felt sad along with her.
Faye held her shoulder, "Don’t regret the true feelings you gave away; in every way, the person who loses them is at a greater loss."
Hearing this, Rachel’s mood improved a lot, and she withdrew her gaze, reaching out to touch her friend’s bulging belly, "How have you been lately? Are you sleeping well? Any pregnancy symptoms?"
"The little one is truly an angel, hasn’t troubled me at all." Faye’s face lit up with a carefree smile.
"June is going to be a big sister; maybe they will even go to the same school in the future."
"Time flies so fast."
As the sisters chatted, the car stopped at the entrance of the residential complex.
Rachel swiped the access control, and the car was allowed through, the security measures were really good.
Faye accompanied Rachel back to her newly purchased house.
The 150-square-meter apartment was a fully furnished place, bright throughout, with a tasteful aesthetic.
When Faye first entered, she felt that living in this house would certainly be very comfortable, with good lighting from all sides.
The aunt taking care of June was home, "Miss Sherman, why did you finish work so early today?" When her gaze fell on Faye, the aunt’s face was filled with warmth.
"Auntie, let me introduce you to my good friend Faye." Rachel happily gathered the child from her embrace, "June, come and see who’s here? It’s Auntie Faye, remember her?"
"Hello Auntie." Faye greeted politely.
"Hello, hello." The middle-aged woman quickly went to pour juice.
Faye saw June’s adorable little face and that shiny black hair, and couldn’t help wanting to give her a kiss, "So cute, our June has grown up again."
The aunt handed over the juice, and after Faye took it, she said thank you.
At that moment, the aunt received a phone call, presumably someting at home, "Oh, okay, okay, I’ll come back."
Without waiting for her to ask Rachel, Rachel turned to her and said, "Auntie, you should go back, I’m not going to the newspaper today; I can take care of the child myself."
"Alright then, I’ll head out and come back tomorrow morning to make breakfast for you." The aunt expressed her gratitude.
"Okay."
Soon after the aunt left, Faye took June from Rachel’s arms, affectionately playing with the little one, filled with overflowing love.
"Her little legs like to kick around, be careful of your belly!" Rachel reminded her while making milk for June.
Faye happily played with June, and naturally paid attention to her own safety.
"Faye, where were you headed today? Happened to pass by?"
"Went home to see my mother-in-law." Faye casually answered, then picked up the rattle from the sofa and focused on entertaining June.
Ever since she’s been pregnant, she’s truly grown to love children more and more.
Rachel finished making the milk, took the child from her hands shortly after, when the doorbell rang.
Faye felt puzzled, so did Rachel, the two girls exchanged glances.
"I’ll get the door." Faye headed toward the entrance.
As she opened the door, Chase Fletcher appeared with several cans of formula in hand. Seeing Faye, his smile slightly waned.
Faye was slightly startled to see him, but quickly realized, "Hello."
"Hello." Chase greeted warmly as well.
Both of them knew who the other was, though not acquainted. After all, they had met once with Adrian Lancaster present in the hospital room.
"Please come in." Faye quickly opened the door for him.
Chase sensed he might have come at an inconvenient time. As he stepped inside, sitting on the sofa feeding milk to June, Rachel raised her gaze, and seeing him, she paused, "Mr. Fletcher, why are you here?" 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
With one call of Mr. Fletcher, an unconscious distance was created.
