When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster-Chapter 270: This Time, Truly Heartbroken
"Let’s go, Rachel, we’re going to the hospital." Faye Turner supported her, her heart aching with sorrow.
"In that bag, it’s June’s clothes..." Rachel Sherman pointed weakly, speaking with a frail voice, limping as she walked, her whole body feeling as if it were falling apart.
Regarding this relationship, this marriage, she had completely lost hope and only wished for a stable job and a quick escape.
Adrian Lancaster bent his noble stature, picked up the bag from the ground, and walked beside his wife’s best friend as they headed outside.
Dylan Shaw was left alone lying on the bed; at the moment the door closed, he shut his eyes in despair...
Argent probably couldn’t accommodate him anymore.
At the hospital, Rachel’s in-laws, upon seeing her bruised and battered, exclaimed, "What happened?" startled.
"Your son hit her." Faye Turner was furious, but out of respect for the elders, she lowered her voice.
Got into a fight with Dylan Shaw??
The old couple widened their eyes, worried about their son’s situation, said nothing, and quickly rushed out of the hospital room, heading home immediately!
The responsibility of taking care of June fell on Rachel, deepening her despair.
The woman’s position was obviously weak, yet they didn’t even offer a word of consolation.
Adrian Lancaster called Mrs. Rhodes, gently instructing, "Come to the hospital for a while, and help take care of a six-month-old baby."
Rachel was moved when she heard the call, "Thank you, President Lancaster." She sat by the head of the hospital bed, slowly raising her eyes.
"Do you need legal assistance?" Adrian Lancaster put down his phone and asked directly, "Have you decided to divorce?"
Faye Turner was taken aback, raising her eyes to look at him; was he going to help her?
Rachel was deeply moved, nodding, "Divorce!"
"I have a friend who’s a lawyer." Adrian Lancaster said, "I’ll talk to him as soon as possible; he’s returning to the country soon and has no record of losing a case."
"Thank you, President Lancaster."
"You’re welcome."
Faye Turner was puzzled; this person seemed quite nice, so why wouldn’t he accept interviews?
Outside, the sky had already darkened.
The doctor gave Rachel a full body checkup; fortunately, there were no fractures, only some external injuries that needed time to heal.
Faye Turner only realized then that someone fired from Prestige Group couldn’t easily find another job in Argent.
Soon, Mrs. Rhodes arrived.
She had experience caring for pregnant women and children; luckily, June wasn’t shy with strangers, and allowed Mrs. Rhodes to hold her.
Although Rachel wasn’t seriously injured, Faye Turner knew that mental trauma is hard to recover from quickly.
So she said to Adrian Lancaster, "Thank you for today, you should go home and rest; I’ll stay at the hospital tonight with her."
Adrian Lancaster looked into the girl’s light amber eyes; he considered himself to have a certain understanding of her.
If he forced her to go home, she, being so kind, wouldn’t be able to sleep tonight.
"Alright." With hands in his pockets, Adrian Lancaster glanced at her, collected his gaze, and turned to leave.
In the hospital room, Mrs. Rhodes changed June’s clothes, fed her milk, played with her for a while, and then coaxed her to sleep.
Seeing her daughter in good spirits and not having repeated fevers, Rachel felt somewhat relieved, unbothered by her injuries.
"Rachel."
Faye Turner lay beside Rachel, holding her hand, interlocking their fingers tightly.
Just like in college, "No matter what happens, I will be by your side, supporting you forever."
Rachel gazed at the ceiling, a tear rolling down from the corner of her eye, feeling a pulling pain in her heart, "Faye, do you think... there are two people in this world who can love each other forever?"
"No." She replied almost without thought, "Life is too long for that; we meet so many people, fall in love with different ones. But at a certain stage, we love someone very, very deeply, so much so we’d give our life for them."
Rachel agreed with this perspective, yet the pain in her heart felt tearing, "I might never believe in love again."
This time, she was truly heartbroken.
