Chapter 266: Chapter 266: Faye Turner’s Well-Intentioned Efforts

Walking out of the clinic, Faye Turner was about to hail a cab when Adrian Lancaster’s call came through.

Hmm, he didn’t reply to my texts all day, and now he’s calling??

Her mood, which had been gloomy all day, suddenly improved a lot.

The ringtone continued, and Faye answered, "Hello."

"Where are you?" Adrian Lancaster had just left the office, "Nancy Jennings said you were already off work." His tone was lukewarm.

"Yes, I left early today." Faye honestly told him, explaining she went out to queue for his mom’s herbal medicine.

Adrian Lancaster was silent for a moment, "Stand by the roadside, I’ll come pick you up." He didn’t seem very touched.

"Okay."

After the call ended, she obediently stood by the roadside waiting for him. Since they were going to the old house together anyway, taking a cab would mean meeting again later; might as well wait for him to come pick her up.

Thinking about what Eliza Hayes said when she asked her to leave with five million, Faye felt despondent.

She really couldn’t figure out what hidden past existed between her and Mr. Lancaster.

Is it love or hate?

Or perhaps... Was her judgment wrong?

But the erratic pulse clearly indicated medication intervention.

Soon, a Lamborghini halted in front of her, bringing her back to her senses.

Through the lowered car window, Faye saw Adrian Lancaster in the driver’s seat and opened the passenger door herself, carrying the herbal medicine inside.

"Um..." After the car started, she turned to ask him, "Do you have Nanny Warren’s number?"

"Why?"

"I want to call her in advance and ask her to persuade your mother later because I’m really worried she won’t want to take the medicine I brought." Faye’s intentions were good.

Adrian Lancaster drove, "You want to start by influencing my mom, don’t you?"

"I’ll try."

But he didn’t hold much hope, "She doesn’t care about me; how could she let you get close? She pushes everyone away except Grandpa."

"Then maybe Grandpa should persuade her?" Faye suddenly thought, it seemed better.

"If Grandpa and Nanny Warren both persuade her, there might be a glimmer of hope." Adrian Lancaster drove towards the old house; he knew the chance was slim, but he also wanted to try.

After all, his ultimate goal was to save his father.

So, he recited a number, not even looking it up in his phone contacts.

Faye noted it down on her phone and immediately dialed it.

Hearing the ringtone, she silently prayed, hoping Eliza Hayes wouldn’t find out.

After a while, Nanny Warren’s voice came through, "Hello, this is Nanny Warren."

"Nanny Warren, it’s me, Faye Turner." Her voice was small, with clear nervousness, "Could you find a convenient corner? I’ll speak briefly with you."

Nanny Warren was in the villa’s yard, "Go ahead."

"I’ve prepared some herbal medicine for Mom to take; her complexion seems poor, and it seems her sleep isn’t well, as her skin tone appears somewhat dull." Faye said, "However, she might reject it. I sincerely wish to help adjust her health, so... I need your persuasion."

Nanny Warren thought, Mrs. Lancaster wishes Faye would disappear forever; how could she accept her herbal medicine?

Nonetheless, Nanny Warren genuinely hoped Mrs. Lancaster’s physical and mental state would improve.

So she agreed, "I’ll try my best, okay?"

"Alright, thank you." Faye relaxed, smiling as she said, "You can get back to your work."

She remained courteous, always using respectful terms with Nanny Warren.

After hanging up, Faye stayed silent, and Adrian Lancaster also did not speak.

Several times, she turned to look at him, but he acted as if nothing was wrong; he hadn’t replied to her about Rachel Sherman’s matter.

"Um, Rachel called me today." She tried to break the silence.

"Hmm."

Faye felt the atmosphere was even more stifling, "June’s fever has subsided; the doctor said she would need to stay for observation for one more day. She thanked us a lot last night."

"Hmm." He drove, eyes always on the road ahead.

Goodness, he doesn’t mention the matter on WhatsApp at all!

Faye simply turned sideways to look at him, "Did you see the messages on WhatsApp?" She asked directly without any preamble.
