Chapter 261: Chapter 261: A Hot Potato

Rachel didn’t know what kind of mood she was in when she left the editor-in-chief’s office; she was absolutely fed up!

It was essentially an impossible task! Isn’t this just making it difficult for her?

The fact that her child was sick and hospitalized didn’t make her this mentally exhausted; after all, with doctors around, illnesses can be dealt with.

Back at the office, she sat at her desk, unable to gather her thoughts for a long time, her heart weighed down like a stone.

She really didn’t know what to do!

In her dire situation, she needed this job more than anyone!

Just when Rachel was feeling utterly frustrated, Faye’s call came in.

Staring at the caller ID, she took a deep breath and slid to answer, "Hey, Faye."

"How’s June? Did the fever come back after it broke? What did the doctor say?" came the concerned inquiry from her good friend.

Rachel briefly explained June’s situation, once again expressed gratitude for last night, and assured, "You don’t need to worry too much; once the fever breaks, she’ll be fine. My in-laws are taking care of her at the hospital now."

"Rachel, you don’t sound well. Did you not get any rest last night, or did something else happen?" Faye, being perceptive, caught on, "Did Dylan act up again? Is his phone on?"

"Faye, sigh."

"What exactly happened? Tell me, maybe I can give you some advice."

"As soon as I arrived at the newspaper today, the editor-in-chief called me into the office." Rachel decided to spill the beans, "Last night’s incident where you and President Lancaster went to the hospital made the news. He actually thinks I’m very close with President Lancaster!"

Being smart, Faye already guessed, "Did he ask you to do an exclusive interview with him?"

"Yeah." Rachel sighed, "Can you believe this... Ugh, he even threatened that if I couldn’t manage it, he’d fire me, but if I did, he’d instantly make me permanent and give me a raise! What is this? Who does that!"

Faye furrowed her brows upon hearing this; that editor-in-chief had no integrity!

Both sisters knew that Adrian Lancaster never accepted exclusive interviews and particularly disliked using advanced drafts for publicity.

But Faye told her, "Don’t worry, you don’t have to stress so much. I’ll find an opportunity to try; you negotiate with the editor-in-chief and buy some time."

"Faye..." Rachel felt extremely apologetic, "I’m sorry, I really didn’t want to trouble you."

"It’s fine, I’ll give it a try. You get busy now."

"Alright."

Then, the call ended.

Faye didn’t feel as relaxed as she sounded, as if a hot potato had been passed from Rachel to her.

The pressure was on her now too.

In the hallway, just taking a few steps to gather her thoughts, she ran into Dustin coming towards her.

And Dustin had been observing her for quite some time, "What’s going on with you? Something on your mind?"

Faye came back to her senses, shook her head with a smile, "No, no." Then she walked past him, heading toward the office.

Dustin also saw today’s news; she was pregnant...

So his emotions were mixed; he didn’t know whether to be happy or feel a slight pang of bitterness, but mostly, he hoped for her happiness.

Faye didn’t immediately go to Adrian Lancaster because she needed to think about how to bring this up.

And if he refused, how could she persuade him?

On the 22nd floor, in the simple yet exquisite president’s office, after seeing today’s news, Adrian Lancaster’s expression darkened!

Was there no bit of privacy left?

Being photographed at the hospital, and at the maternity store; the timeline around 3 or 4 a.m. became the focus of the whole internet’s discussion.

Since being with Faye, President Lancaster’s appearances in the news were no longer about company developments or project successes, but about relationships, about women.

This was something Adrian Lancaster internally rejected.
