When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster-Chapter 228: This Is Too Terrifying
"Faye, there’s something I’m not sure if I should say, but as a woman, as a woman who also has feelings for Adrian, I still think I should tell you." Ivy spoke without malice.
Faye blinked her long, curly eyelashes, "Tell me, I’ll listen carefully."
"The reason you could become Mrs. Lancaster is probably because you resemble Sienna Dawson." Ivy asked her, "Do you know who Sienna Dawson is?"
This name made Faye’s back stiffen, and she gradually lost focus.
Ivy told her, "Sienna Dawson was Adrian’s first love, his constant muse. Although I’ve never met her, I accidentally saw a photo; you have at least a 70% resemblance to her."
Hearing this, Faye felt as if the world had suddenly become surreal, and her heart was thrown into disarray.
After parting with Ivy, she stood on the side of the road, holding tulips, for a long time.
So, she was just a substitute?
Faye finally understood. With Adrian Lancaster’s status and position, even if his grandfather had threatened him with death to marry a woman he didn’t love, he had the intellect to resist and maneuver around it.
He wouldn’t treat marriage lightly.
So, did he marry her because she resembled Sienna Dawson?
This was terrifying.
Unknowingly, she thought back to those few intimate moments, when Adrian Lancaster held her, obsessively calling out Sienna Dawson’s name...
Faye suddenly felt so sad that her heart seemed to shatter completely, with fierce pain churning within.
At this moment, she realized profoundly that she had fallen in love with Adrian Lancaster.
The Lancaster family’s grand old mansion.
In the front yard of the temple, Nanny Warren leisurely swept the fallen leaves with a broom. Recently, the autumn wind had been chilling, and the temperature had begun to drop.
"Madam, with the Mid-Autumn Festival approaching, I’ve had some clothes made for you." Nanny Warren said while sweeping the leaves, "They’re in the style you used to like, haven’t been worn for many years."
Eliza Hayes sat in a chair in the courtyard, holding the newspapers from the past few days, with the important pages filled with her son and daughter-in-law.
Every now and then, something was going on.
"No need to bother." She replied, flipping through the newspaper in a cold tone, "I’m not particular about clothing anymore, just having something to wear is enough."
Nanny Warren just wanted to provide her a bit of emotional comfort, hoping she might find some happiness and peace of mind.
"Adrian Lancaster and Faye have certainly been the topic recently." She chuckled coldly, joking, "Before the wedding, Adrian never showed up in the news, and now look, he’s always talked about—his wife plagiarizing stories, him having late nights with his secretary, haha..."
Nanny Warren had seen the news too, thinking it was bustling indeed.
But Eliza Hayes’ schadenfreude made Nanny Warren feel uneasy; after all, they were mother and son.
"Nanny Warren, do you think Faye is a jinx?" Eliza Hayes asked with a smile.
She really couldn’t understand—if it had to be a spontaneous marriage, then why was the choice Faye?
This wasn’t a suitable match.
"Madam, the old master said, this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival, Mr. Lancaster must perform the Lunar Ceremony ritual, which symbolizes warding off disease, so we must take good care of him, especially since the temperatures have dropped; he mustn’t catch cold." Nanny Warren reminded, changing the subject.
Eliza Hayes closed the newspaper with a cold face, "Humans have too many wishes. If there are real gods, they couldn’t possibly keep up!"
"This is the old master’s belief; it’s something we shouldn’t defy." Nanny Warren said, "So this Mid-Autumn, the wheelchair must come out, and the necessary ceremonies must still be attended."
So, can Faye easily meet Caleb Lancaster then?
