When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster-Chapter 221: Made the News
She looked enviously at the passenger seat, the spot where only Faye Turner had ever sat, feeling incredibly sad inside.
The journalist who captured this scene was quite puzzled.
Not going to watch the sunrise? After being out all night, not planning to hold hands and walk by the lakeside?
Leaving just like that??
AM.
Faye Turner arrived at the entrance of the CEO’s office. She saw Adrian Lancaster on the phone in front of the window, his composed demeanor and tall, slender back giving her a sense of reassurance.
Thankfully, nothing happened.
So she didn’t disturb him and turned to walk towards the elevator.
But she incidentally ran into Dustin Shepherd, who saw her with two large dark circles under her eyes, feeling quite empathetic.
Yet the two exchanged no words, Faye merely glanced at him, withdrew her gaze, passed by him, and walked into the elevator.
Dustin returned to the office, waited until President Lancaster finished his call, and asked, "President, where were you last night?"
Adrian Lancaster was slightly startled, turned around, and focused his gaze on him.
Dustin explained, "At 3 AM, Faye called me asking for your whereabouts, probably worried about you all night, and I just ran into her outside again."
She came?
But she didn’t come in.
Dustin observed his expression, correctly guessed that Faye just came to ensure his safety.
Adrian Lancaster felt his wife’s concern, recalling last night’s events, suddenly unsure of how to explain.
So he said nothing, "Handled some matters," and then sat back in his office chair.
Dustin also found it odd, where could he possibly go in the middle of the night? What business could he attend to?
Looks like he didn’t come home all night.
In the afternoon, the news broke, creating a huge uproar.
"Oh my God, last night President Lancaster was with Secretary Jennings?? Sleeping in the car in the suburbs? How romantic, waiting for the sunrise in the morning..."
"I also saw the video, it’s unbelievable, it’s officially released."
"It’s so clearly filmed, it’s President Lancaster with Ivy Jennings."
"This kind of video and photo can’t be fake, so it must be true."
"Just waiting for public opinion to brew..."
Such whispers already spreading inside the company, slowly gathering in groups of three or five, starting to excitedly discuss.
In the open-plan office of the design department.
Faye Turner sat at her workstation with her computer on, earnestly sketching design drafts, on the screen, a dress.
She immersed herself in work, not feeling the slightest fatigue despite not sleeping well last night.
Since Adrian was safe, she felt at ease.
Until Jake came up beside her and tapped on her desk, "Wake up, Mrs. Lancaster, someone’s been stealing your thunder."
Faye Turner looked up, only to see Jake pass by without looking back.
She was puzzled, noticing several colleagues casting unusual glances her way.
She met each gaze until finally, Demi asked, "Faye, did President Lancaster not come home to sleep last night, do you know where he went?"
Strange, how did she know Adrian didn’t come home to sleep?
"Quick, check your phone, it’s all over the news again," Demi reminded, "President Lancaster actually went on a date with Secretary Jennings, they spent the night in the car, watching the sunrise by the lake early morning."
Faye’s nerves suddenly tightened, she looked at everyone, withdrew her gaze, and took out her phone.
Opened it and saw the trending topic, in the photo the woman in the red dress was Ivy Jennings.
Faye appeared calm, neither shocked nor sad, as if the matter had nothing to do with her.
Colleagues around watched her, eager for her reaction. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
Actually, Faye’s heart was complex, but she tried very hard to remain calm, telling herself this was merely a loveless marriage, and she had no right to interfere.
So, with such an incident, she had no right to be angry, nor to question him.
But regarding worrying about him all night, Faye felt very, very ironic.
