When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster-Chapter 214: Standing Up for My Best Friend
The plagiarism scandal involving Mrs. Lancaster, Faye Turner, finally drew to a close.
No one defamed, framed, or even insulted her anymore... Instead, they all expressed sympathy for her.
Moreover, they felt heartbroken by her restraint yesterday, surrounded by overwhelming media pressure, yet she didn’t explain anything, not even posting on social media.
Truly the mark of a great individual.
After the press conference, Serena Sutton took a half-day leave. Perhaps she didn’t have the courage to face her colleagues and needed time to compose herself.
Faye Turner repeatedly watched what Rachel Sherman said to Serena Sutton at the press conference. She was very moved because Rachel’s words were filled with strong personal emotions.
This was Rachel’s first battle upon returning to the workplace. Going off-script could easily lead to accountability.
Coincidentally, when Faye pressed the elevator button, she saw Adrian Lancaster standing inside, wearing a black suit, and their gazes met.
His eyes were deep, hands in pockets, his tall and athletic build exuding masculine charm.
Beside him stood two men in suits whom she hadn’t seen before, likely his subordinates.
"Hello, Mrs. Lancaster." They greeted her respectfully.
Faye was momentarily stunned, then snapped back to reality, smiled at them, stepped inside, and turned to press the close button.
She needed to go downstairs too. So, Faye stood in front of Adrian, her back to him.
Descending from the 11th floor, the elevator ride wouldn’t take long at all.
But for Faye, every second standing in front of him felt endlessly long.
She organized countless words, but they all boiled down to two, "Thank you."
The girl turned her eyes, while the man looked down at her, saying nothing, his innate aura slightly intimidating her.
At this moment, the elevator stopped, and the doors opened.
Faye saw a distinguished group outside the elevator, with more than ten well-dressed people. At the forefront was a middle-aged man who, upon seeing Adrian Lancaster, immediately stepped forward to greet him, "Hello, President Lancaster!"
Before Faye could step out, Adrian walked past her, reached out to shake the man’s outstretched hand, "Hello, hello, Prestige welcomes you."
"You’re too kind, President Lancaster."
Then they started discussing the project, moving towards the nearby lounge.
Faye judged that it must be an important client.
She took a deep breath and stepped out before the elevator doors closed. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
But she hadn’t walked far before she saw a figure she had only seen once but found unforgettable.
In her mind flashed an image of Dylan Shaw standing by a car, and this woman walking straight toward him, intending to sit in the passenger seat.
Faye stepped towards the woman, and upon reaching her, the woman saw Faye, slightly startled, then sheepishly said, "Mrs. Lancaster."
Faye glanced at her name badge, "Your name is Vivian Sawyer?"
The woman wanted to dodge but found no chance, and only stiffly replied, "Yes."
"Shall we have a cup of coffee?" Faye invited her.
How could she refuse? She vaguely sensed something as well.
Thus, the two entered the company lounge. It was Vivian’s first time here, and she was overwhelmed by the setting, which was as quiet as a pin dropping.
Soon, someone brought two cups of coffee, and before leaving, even closed the door.
"How long have you been with Dylan Shaw?" Faye, with her judgment, asked directly without questioning if they were indeed together.
And Vivian’s expression already allowed Faye to determine that the two were indeed carrying on illicitly.
