When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster-Chapter 202: Slandered
Faye Turner did not rebut like an angry woman; she sat calmly in her chair, deeply contemplating where the issue lay.
Dustin Shepherd felt heartbroken but was powerless; for a moment, he didn’t know what to say.
Soon, the murmurs around them resumed, with nearly everyone turning their gaze to Faye Turner, waiting for her explanation.
"May I take a look at these two works?" Faye Turner asked politely.
Minnie nodded and handed the works to Dustin Shepherd, who received them with mixed emotions and began projecting them on the screen, also eager for an answer.
Quickly, the two highly similar works of Faye Turner and Serena Sutton were projected side by side on the big screen, and everyone looked up at it!
Now the direct comparison was more evident.
Seeing both necklaces adorned with butterflies and designed with spider webs and dewdrops alongside, Faye Turner was also shocked.
Minnie admired Faye Turner and instinctively didn’t believe she would plagiarize.
But now the evidence was right there, and she observed the increasingly shocked expression on Faye Turner’s face, then glanced at Serena Sutton, who looked somewhat smug. "Serena Sutton, why don’t you talk about your creative concept first?"
Serena Sutton snapped back to reality, having long prepared some professional jargon to deal with such situations.
With a sweet voice and composed demeanor, she began, "The main elements used to be complex. Nowadays people increasingly pursue simplicity, but I believe fashion is cyclical; designing little animals or flowers is not ostentatious."
Both necklaces projected on the screen were relatively intricate.
Serena Sutton kept explaining about the spiritual core and eternal romance, speaking flawlessly, as if reciting a script.
When she finished, applause erupted, because what she said did have merit.
"Thank you, thank you all for the recognition." She smiled sweetly and bowed to everyone from all directions.
Only Faye Turner remained silent in her seat, completely unsure where the problem lay, feeling her blood freeze and her mind foggy.
But she was certain Serena Sutton had copied her work.
"Faye Turner." This time, Jamil spoke up.
Faye Turner focused her gaze on him, as the mentor and apprentice made eye contact. His voice was gentle, "Please share your design concept."
Faye Turner didn’t stand up; she remained seated, facing everyone’s gaze with all her effort, grounding herself, grounding herself...
Dustin Shepherd’s heart was also anxious for her, looking at her warmly, hoping she would give her best.
"I submitted more than just this piece; the series consists of three pieces. The one displayed now is the mother style. There’s also a father style where the adornment is not a butterfly but an exquisite and understated dragon, and the child style is a small butterfly."
Minnie handed the additional two designs to Dustin Shepherd, who understood and displayed them for everyone.
Everyone turned their attention to the screen, speculating, "Is this about being pregnant?"
"The split beads are inspired by a rainy spider web," she explained to everyone while pulling out her phone.
As she flipped through photos she had taken, she spoke to the audience, "I once accidentally saw it, felt it was beautiful, and incorporated it into my creation."
These words changed Serena Sutton’s expression somewhat, leaving her feeling guilty, while she slowly sat back down.
Although Faye Turner was accused of plagiarism, she remained calm and composed, sincerely explaining her design philosophy.
"Whatever the selection result, this will be a gift I present to my child in the future."
This genuine expression of emotion moved every judge present, leading by Minnie, the conference room was again filled with applause, this time much more enthusiastic.
However, due to insufficient evidence regarding the plagiarism accusation, no one dared to draw a conclusion.
Perhaps because she was Mrs. Lancaster.
In any case, the final jury decision was that Serena Sutton and Faye Turner’s works shared equal first place.
Meeting adjourned.
After the judges left, the designers gradually departed as well.
Serena Sutton was extremely dissatisfied, arrogantly blocking Faye Turner, who had just stood up to leave—
"You got extra points because you’re Mrs. Lancaster!"
"You copied my idea and still have the face to speak?" Faye Turner retorted angrily, staring coldly at her.
Serena Sutton, however, crossed her arms defiantly, "I copied? What’s your evidence?! Plagiarizing is disgraceful! Hmph!" Having said that, she walked away, very disdainful of sharing the first place with Faye Turner.
Faye Turner stood there for a long time, her mood sinking to rock bottom.
