When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster-Chapter 179: She Really Knows How to Let Go
Evening time.
Faye Turner couldn’t find peace in her thoughts today; she didn’t dare to look at her phone.
She only heard from friends that the front-page headlines were still up, estimating that this top trending search, if not intentionally managed, would last a long time.
At that moment, the phone rang.
It was her good friend Rachel Sherman calling.
Faye snapped out of her reverie and answered—
"Hey, Rachel."
"Talia Tully, you did it, huh? Your flash marriage partner is actually the President of Prestige Group!" Rachel’s tone didn’t carry any blame; on the contrary, she was particularly happy for her.
"Rachel, I..."
"I finally understand why you kept it a secret; it’s because you haven’t reached the time to go public, right? It’s okay, you don’t need to apologize. I get it! After all, marriage isn’t just your own affair."
Hearing this, Faye felt as if a weight was lifted off her heart, and she smiled as she asked, "So how have you been lately? Has Dylan Shaw been treating you any better?"
"Let me tell you, once a man gets married, they’re never the same as they were before, especially after having kids. Little things at home pile up." Rachel sighed lightly and told her, "I feel like life has smoothed out my edges. As long as the days pass, I don’t hold high expectations anymore."
"How could it be like this?" Faye tidied her desk, preparing to leave work. Today, she planned to head back to the old home for dinner with her grandfather.
"Yeah, I’ve already stopped believing in those fairy tales wrapped in bubbles." Rachel said, "About getting married, you should either find someone who can ensure a life free of worries or someone who loves you deeply. People need to seek something in this life, don’t they?"
So what did Faye Turner belong to?
She belonged to the former, having found someone who could give her a life free of worries.
But compared to the former, she yearned more for a connection of souls, more for love.
After chatting with her good friend, the two agreed to meet tomorrow at The Fairy Tale Nook.
As soon as she finished the call, Adrian Lancaster’s phone call came through, "Get ready to leave work, going to the old home; grandfather called and said he wants to take you to pick out a gift."
After saying that, he hung up the call.
Holding the phone and listening to the busy tone on the other end, Faye always felt that, despite seeming close, there was a distance between them like vast mountains and rivers.
He seemed to have... no patience with her.
As she went downstairs, Adrian Lancaster just walked out of the elevator, and they walked one after another toward the hall exit.
"Hello President Lancaster, hello Mrs. Lancaster."
"Mrs. Lancaster."
All the female staff looked at Faye with eyes full of envy and jealousy.
This kind of luck to marry into a wealthy family, it’s cultivated over eight lifetimes.
The Lamborghini drove towards the Lancaster family estate.
Mr. Kerr was driving.
Adrian Lancaster and Faye Turner sat in the back seat, a shoulder-width apart, representing the distance between their hearts.
Going public seemed not to agree with him.
"What kind of gift does grandfather want to take me to pick out?" Faye turned her gaze to ask him, starting a conversation. Not talking the whole way was really too awkward.
"Not sure." Adrian’s voice was deep, "Probably because you’re pregnant, and he wants to give you a gift."
It must be something very valuable, Faye thought of refusing, but she didn’t want to hurt grandfather’s feelings; in moments like this, she often felt it was very difficult.
She hasn’t resolved this terrible in-law relationship yet.
She was the type who cherishes relationships, hoping that people, regardless of what kind of relationship, can coexist peacefully.
She always firmly believed that only a harmonious family could lead to prosperity.
"You don’t have to think about pleasing my mom." Adrian seemed to see through her heaviness, casually saying, "Your pregnancy can’t stir any waves within her."
Faye couldn’t help but give a bitter smile, turning her gaze towards him, "Actually, this might not be a bad thing after all."
Adrian turned his gaze.
The girl teased, "If it were another mother-in-law, she’d be making my life difficult, adamantly refusing. Now I’m just seen as invisible rather than a thorn in her side, isn’t that kind of good?"
