When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster-Chapter 1023: Longing
Adrian Lancaster looked at his grandpa and couldn’t help but laugh, "You’re dressed more formally than I am today."
"Look around, who isn’t formal today? Your mom is decked out from head to toe like it’s New Year’s when we were kids."
Eliza Hayes felt a bit embarrassed and laughed, "Dad, why are you dragging me into this?"
"Alright, alright, since everyone’s ready, let’s set off first and chat in the car," Caleb Lancaster reminded them, indicating not to waste time.
The old man, leaning on his dragon-headed cane, stepped out with vigor, supported by his son, and walked out of the living room.
In the yard, someone opened the car door, and everyone got into the cars one after another.
Caleb Lancaster and Eliza Hayes got into the same car as grandpa, to look after him on the road.
In another car, four men in black suits sat inside; they were Adrian Lancaster’s people, sometimes lending a hand, like carrying gifts into the Xavier Family house.
Mr. Kerr was in the driver’s seat of the Lamborghini, driving today, and he was wearing new clothes, looking particularly refreshed.
How could he not be happy about bringing the lady of the house back? She had always been kind to him in the past.
Adrian Lancaster opened the passenger door, picked up the bunch of fresh flowers on the seat, then bent down and sat inside, fastening his seatbelt as he said to Mr. Kerr, "Let’s go, Mr. Kerr."
"Alright." 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
And so, with the Lamborghini leading the way, the two cars behind followed, heading to the Xavier Family house in Jadepoint.
The Xavier Family welcomed the Lancasters’ arrival, but at the same time were quite reluctant because they would separate from their daughter.
Especially Mrs. Xavier, who had been sleepless since last night, her silent tears wetting the pillow cover.
This morning, she sat in front of the dressing mirror for a long time, looking not well, a sense of longing rising from her heart.
Two decades flew by, her daughter had grown up... Time flies like an arrow.
Simon Xavier came behind his wife, placed his hand on her shoulder, bent slightly, and sighed gently, "Our daughter is grown up, she has to get married."
"But I miss her so much..." It was better not to ask; once asked, Mrs. Xavier’s voice choked, "I can’t help but think about her."
She lowered her head, wiping her tears, truly unwilling to part.
The daughter she finally recognized, and hadn’t spent many days with, missed her growing up, and in the blink of an eye, she’s become a mother.
And as a mother, she hasn’t done anything for her.
"How could I not miss her too?" The middle-aged man picked up a handkerchief, handed it to her, and sighed once more—
"Me too, I miss her a lot, but I feel at ease with her marrying Adrian Lancaster, so you should be at ease too. The Lancasters won’t let her down, with an understanding old patriarch there."
Life in a wealthy family is like a deep ocean.
Only those within the rich circles know that every step is fraught with struggles, careful and restrained, not as glamorous as outsiders imagine.
The troubles of the wealthy cannot be solved with money.
Mrs. Xavier, being a sensible person, soon figured it out and accepted it.
What else could be done otherwise?
To prevent others from worrying, she put away her sadness, turned her eyes with a smile, "Yeah, let’s go and see our daughter together." Every second spent together counts.
"Alright."
With that, Mrs. Xavier got up, and Simon Xavier, accompanying her, walked towards Faye Turner’s place.
Nathan Xavier also got up early, having always doted on this sister since they were kids, spending years while working hard trying to find her.
Now his sister was being taken by the Lancasters, he too felt deeply reluctant, not having witnessed her growing up, and yet having to send her off to marry.
So, he got up early to bring her something, holding a camera in his hand.
"I know you don’t lack clothes, but I still picked a few pieces for you, they should suit your style. They’re from a new brand abroad, all designer pieces, not easy to clash with others, you’ll definitely like them."
"Thank you, brother." Faye Turner was delighted, smiling sweetly, "Why are you up so early too?"
