When system cheat becomes rampant!-Chapter 1348 - 863: The End of the World (Part 2)
Xiang Beifei even couldn’t communicate with Xiaohei in his mind.
Xiaohei was looking around, seemingly searching for Xiang Beifei’s figure. When he turned around, he soon waved happily towards Xiang Beifei, shouting something.
But Xiang Beifei couldn’t hear!
Xiaohei shook his head, then ran towards Xiang Beifei. The strange thing was, although they clearly ran towards each other, the distance between them grew farther and farther.
"What’s going on? How did Xiaohei run farther away from us?" Erha exclaimed in surprise.
Seeing the situation was not right, Xiang Beifei stopped. Xiaohei also felt something was off and followed suit, stopping in his tracks.
"This is the Chaotic Zone, a place without logic."
Xiang Beifei realized this.
In the Chaotic Zone, running towards someone doesn’t necessarily mean heading towards them; it might actually be moving away or veering left or right.
As he was speaking, Xiaohei tried taking a step back and ended up reappearing beneath Xiang Beifei.
Fortunately, Xiaohei was clever. He stood still, not moving anymore.
Xiang Beifei immediately simulated the direction laws, enveloping them around his feet, cautiously making his way towards Xiaohei’s position. Once the Heavenly Dao rules of this area were established, moving around became much easier. At least Xiaohei’s position didn’t shift anymore.
Soon he finally reached Xiaohei’s side, holding the Heavenly Dao Laws in his hand, he pulled Xiaohei back, enveloping him within his own power.
"What just happened? I remember you were right by my side the whole time." Xiang Beifei said.
"I’m not sure either. I just heard some sound, slightly turned my head, and when I came to, you were gone." Xiaohei said.
"What sound did you hear?" Xiang Beifei asked.
Xiaohei tilted his head, scratching his chin, saying, "Hard to say, it felt like an extremely familiar aura, like—hmm, like... how should I put it?"
He pondered for a long time before saying, "It felt like, this is where I came from."
Xiang Beifei was slightly stunned: "You came from here?"
Xiaohei nodded seriously: "It’s just a feeling, but it’s an incredibly strong one!"
This left Xiang Beifei even more surprised.
How Xiaohei arrived, he still didn’t know, and even Xiaohei himself wasn’t sure.
But what couldn’t be denied was that Xiaohei appeared with the Spirit Gathering Book, providing him with great help. Whether it was the system or various ancestral device fragments, including the extraordinarily defiant Yin and Yang source energy, all were within the Spirit Gathering Book.
He initially thought Xiaohei was left to him by his grandfather, but now he realized it was very unlikely. This was because the Spirit Gathering Book contained many precious things, especially the brick, Yin and Yang source energy, and the Heavenly Dao Map.
If his grandfather had these things, the Human Race shouldn’t have lived so harshly.
Xiang Beifei could now control the entire Edge Corner Airspace but still hadn’t found anything related to Xiaohei’s origins.
It seemed Xiaohei truly might have come from the End of the World!
"Try to find the source of that aura; let’s first uncover your background."
Xiang Beifei made a decision.
His goal for coming here was to find the second Heavenly Dao and the first Heavenly Dao, then dispel the primordial beginning aura lingering on his grandfather’s soul. But now he had no clues. Since Xiaohei had some leads, he would follow them first to understand the place better.
"Alright."
Xiaohei perched on Xiang Beifei’s shoulder, then sniffed and pointed in a direction: "This way."
Xiang Beifei immediately followed the direction Xiaohei pointed. He slowed his pace considerably, as he needed to rely on the Heavenly Dao Laws to set the route. Here, even the concept of time did not exist, and it was uncertain how long they had traveled; finally, they passed through a mass of black and white mist ahead.
Soon after, they saw a spread of yellow sand, or rather, he considered it a spread of yellow sand because all these perceptions were based on the Heavenly Dao rules he set around.
In that dust, faintly, there were many remnants of stone debris!
These were real stones; some parts even had carvings, seeming as if they had dropped from a column. They were inscribed with various strange characters that Xiang Beifei couldn’t quite understand.
"What is that thing?" Xiaohei asked.
"To be able to float in chaotic power, it must be very sturdy! Maybe it’s some treasure! Go, take a look!" Erha said eagerly.
Xiang Beifei cautiously flew along the Heavenly Dao power beneath his feet towards the nearest stone. Although it was only a meter away, it took Xiang Beifei an hour to reach it.
He carefully pulled the stone into his rule space and tapped it lightly.
"It’s just slightly stronger than regular stone." Xiang Beifei remarked that if he wanted, he could crush the stone into pieces.
"Chaotic power is so strong, how come it didn’t destroy these things?" Youmeng asked.
"The power of chaos lacks rules; it’s not necessarily destructive. Sometimes it might just be gentle energy." Xiang Beifei replied.
Just like the primordial beginning power on his grandfather’s soul, the corrosive speed was uncertain.
"These stone columns seem like the remnants of some structure." Xiaohei remarked.
"Might there be some species in this chaotic place? Did they build these stones?" Erha inquired.
"Didn’t Kongcheng mention the Withered Spirit at the End?" Youmong responded.
But Kongcheng also said the Withered Spirit at the End wasn’t exactly a species. They were an enigmatic existence, different from the species of Edge Corner Airspace.
"Feifei, what do you think?"
Xiaohei turned around, only to find Xiang Beifei contemplating this stone.
"What’s up? Did Feifei discover something?" Youmong asked.
Xiang Beifei tapped on the damaged stone pillar, saying: "Have you noticed, this stone material seems very familiar?"
"Familiar? Not really!" Erha responded.
Xiaohei touched the stone pillar, suddenly saying: "It’s Uncle Melancholy’s city!"
"Exactly."
Xiang Beifei nodded.
This broken stone had the same building material as the City of No Pretense.
Xiaohei was taken aback: "Could Uncle Melancholy also have come from the End of the World here?"
"He doesn’t seem unfamiliar with this place." Xiang Beifei remarked.
Kongcheng had immense knowledge. Although he always appeared melancholic and never helped Xiang Beifei fight off opponents, he undeniably provided Xiang Beifei with much guidance.
"Yes, do you remember? Last time, even Wu Zhejiu’s fiercely potent attack hit the City of No Pretense, and it didn’t budge an inch. This old city is really stout! Tougher than Erha’s skin!" Youmong exaggerated in amazement.
"Uncle Melancholy surely has a story of his own. Why didn’t he come with us here?" Xiaohei muttered.
If Kongcheng could be here, their journey would have been more secure, not leaving the four of them stumbling along in the dark.
"He might have his reasons for not coming, let’s not force it."
Xiang Beifei didn’t dwell on it, instead storing away the stone and continuing forward.
Along the way, they saw more and more fragments of stone, but not just stone fragments; there were also some trees. They even encountered a tree that was half withered, half lush and green, seemingly unaffected on either side, quite peculiar indeed.
As they were observing this half-dead, half-alive tree and discussing how it formed, suddenly, a shadow pushed the tree aside, and a towering city appeared abruptly before them.
"This is—"
Everyone was momentarily stunned, exchanging glances.
The old city appeared extremely decayed and desolate, looking as though it was in decline. It was covered with gray vines, and the city gates were ajar, one door precariously hanging.
"Ah? Isn’t this the City of No Pretense?" Xiaohei exclaimed.
