When His Nauseous Sweetheart Frowns, the Tycoon's Family Takes Turns Pampering Her-Chapter 148: A Kiss Goodbye
Luna Axton looked at Blaze Fairchild’s face. ’Didn’t he say he wasn’t coming over?’
She was surprised, but she put on a calm expression. "What are you doing here?"
The moment Blaze arrived, Luna’s mind couldn’t help but recall the teasing tone Ethan had used with her that morning, and the all-knowing smile on her aunt’s face.
’Now they have another chance to see me blush!’
Blaze noticed her brow furrow slightly. ’Is she unhappy that I came to the Frost Family’s home?’
"I came to drop off some fruit."
On the coffee table was an assortment of seasonal fruits: bayberries, lychees, cherries, guavas, and mangosteens that looked like little cat paws.
Luna subconsciously glanced at her aunt. And her aunt was, as expected...
May Ford munched on the fresh fruit her nephew-in-law had brought, her smiling eyes darting back and forth between Luna and Blaze. It wasn’t just the fruit that was sweet; her heart felt sweet, too.
’This young couple is so much fun to ship! It’s overwhelmingly sweet! It makes me want to drag Mason out for a date night.’
’Why did my beautiful niece blush just because Blaze said he was dropping off fruit?’
Seeing Luna sit down next to Blaze, she immediately pushed the cherries in front of her toward Luna. "These are sweet and plump. Try one, Luna."
"Thank you, Aunt May." Luna took one and ate it.
"Don’t eat the lychees. You had quite a few yesterday," Blaze reminded her.
Luna replied, "I know."
Blaze felt she was acting strange and a little awkward. This wasn’t her usual self.
He pretended to casually let his gaze sweep over the others in the room.
The others seemed normal enough, but his aunt-in-law’s stare was a bit too intense.
May Ford, caught by Blaze’s unreadable gaze, gave an embarrassed smile and turned to talk to Jenna Axton.
Blaze looked back at Luna beside him, a slight smile playing on his lips.
’So she’s just shy. As long as she’s not mad at me, it’s fine.’
He stopped paying so much attention to Luna and resumed his conversation with Russell Frost and Theodore Frost about medicine, technology, and the wellness industry.
Luna didn’t understand any of it, so she just sat quietly to the side, listening to them talk.
"It’s getting late. Blaze, why don’t you stay for dinner?" May Ford asked as she prepared to make the evening meal.
Blaze declined. "My grandpa’s at home. I’ll eat with him."
"Alright then," May Ford said. "I won’t count you in for dinner."
Luna secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
Russell Frost told Blaze about the arrangements for tomorrow, assuring him not to worry and that they would take good care of Luna.
Blaze didn’t offer much of an explanation. The reason he had come over wasn’t because he was worried about Luna’s trip tomorrow; he simply wanted to see her.
Bringing fruit was just an excuse.
Russell Frost didn’t get it, but Jenna Axton and May Ford certainly did.
Seeing that Blaze was about to leave, the two women quickly told Luna to walk him out, creating an opportunity for the young couple to have some private words.
The young couple left, one after the other. Jenna Axton and May Ford gripped each other’s hands, barely containing their excitement.
Blaze went down the steps first, then turned and held out a hand to help Luna. She naturally placed her hand in his large palm.
When the two women saw this, they looked at each other, suppressing smiles.
May Ford couldn’t wait. "Quick, show me that picture from the snowy day you were talking about."
After Jenna Axton had returned, May Ford had pulled her aside and given her a colorfully embellished, dramatic retelling of Blaze coming to see Luna the previous night.
Jenna Axton also recalled many sweet moments between Luna and Blaze. The most memorable was during the snowstorm before the New Year, when the two of them were walking in the snow and Luna turned back to look at their footprints.
That was all thanks to Ms. Creed.
She had been just about to show May Ford the photo from that day when Blaze arrived with the fruit.
Now that he was gone, May Ford was still thinking about that picture.
Jenna Axton shot her a look, and the two of them moved to the side, avoiding Theodore Frost and Russell Frost.
Jenna Axton found the picture in her photo album’s favorites and handed it to May Ford. "This is the one."
"Wow~ The atmosphere in this is just perfect. They’re such a good match. He’s tall, handsome, and rich, while she’s clever, sweet, and adorable."
"Yeah. Back then, Mr. Fairchild, Ms. Creed, Uncle Foster, and I started a small group chat called ’The Young Couple’s Observation Diary’."
"That group name is so corny," May Ford retorted.
"The name might be corny, but we were subtle. You, on the other hand, had your thoughts written all over your face just now, sister-in-law. Look how red you made our Luna!"
’So that’s why Luna blushed so many times! It was because I was being too obvious!’
"Well, who can blame me? Luna and Blaze are so easy on the eyes, you can’t help but watch what they’re doing. I’ll try to be more restrained from now on." After making the promise, May Ford felt she probably couldn’t keep it. "They’re just so sweet together. Marrying first and falling in love later... the sweetness level is different from couples like us, who dated before getting married."
Jenna Axton and May Ford hid away, gushing over the young couple’s sweet moments.
Outside, Luna stood by the road. "Didn’t you say you weren’t coming?"
Now that it was just the two of them, she was much more relaxed.
Blaze raised a hand and gently brushed the soft bridge of her nose. "Grandpa and I were out, and I saw some nice fruit, so I bought some to bring over."
Luna scoffed at him. "Just excuses."
Everyone in the house could see it was just an excuse for Blaze to come!
"I promised I wouldn’t come over *tonight*. I never said I wouldn’t come by in the *evening*," Blaze argued, twisting his words.
She couldn’t win an argument with him; he was always right no matter what he said.
"You should go back. I’m not going to video call you tonight. I need to get to bed early, since I have to leave very early tomorrow."
Blaze smiled. "You think you can fall asleep without a video call?"
"If I close my eyes, I’ll fall asleep eventually."
"I won’t be able to."
Luna: ...
Seeing her fall silent, Blaze knew she couldn’t handle his teasing. He patted her head. "I’m heading back."
"Okay." Luna’s only thought was to get back inside quickly, or else her aunt would be staring at her and smiling again.
"Luna Axton."
"Hm?"
She looked up in confusion, and Blaze’s lips pressed down on hers.
His cool lips, bathed in the afterglow of the sunset, pressed tightly against hers.
Alarm bells went off in Luna’s mind!
This was right at the Frost family’s gate! If her uncle and brother came home from work, or if anyone came out of the house, they would see her and Blaze being all lovey-dovey.
How would she ever face them then? She would surely die of embarrassment.
She opened her mouth, intending to refuse Blaze’s kiss.
But he seized the opportunity, his nimble tongue sweeping unopposed into her mouth.
He hooked her tongue, pulling deeply, sucking on it as if he wanted to devour it whole.
A tingling numbness spread from the tip of her tongue, down through her nerves, and into every limb. Her body went limp, and she collapsed against Blaze’s broad chest.
She couldn’t fight back. Her body was soft and weak, and she couldn’t tell him to stop. All she could do was glare with her watery eyes at the handsome face so close to hers.
Blaze knew when to stop. He let her go, in a great mood. "Don’t be shy. Everyone goes through this."
Luna’s cheeks were flushed as she glared at him, a mix of shy and annoyed. "You knew they’d laugh at me, and you still kissed me."
Blaze just smiled and said nothing.
Luna pushed against his firm abdomen. "Go on, go back."
"Alright."
This time, there was no more lingering.
Luna watched Blaze’s car drive away, then stood in place for a while, letting the evening breeze blow over her.
’I’ll go back inside once my face isn’t so hot,’ she thought.
It was late spring, verging on early summer, and the gentle evening breeze felt wonderful against her face.
Before long, the heat on her cheeks was carried away by the wind, leaving only a heart full of happiness.
