When His Nauseous Sweetheart Frowns, the Tycoon's Family Takes Turns Pampering Her-Chapter 130: Mr. Kingston Is in Pretty Deep
Outside Wyatt Kingston’s room, Mrs. Kingston heard footsteps approaching from inside and immediately turned to hurry downstairs.
She practically flew down the stairs, terrified that if she were a second too slow, Blaze Fairchild would catch her in the act and ruin her dignified image in front of the younger generation.
Once back in the living room, Mrs. Kingston sat on the sofa, her back ramrod straight and her long neck held high, like a beautiful swan.
Footsteps echoed from the staircase. Mrs. Kingston tilted her head, a warm smile concealing her panic. "Blaze, come have a seat."
Blaze Fairchild hadn’t visited the Kingston Family in quite some time. Mrs. Kingston had always been very kind to him. Though he was anxious to get back home, he figured Luna was probably still asleep, so he obediently went and sat down.
"How have you been feeling, Mrs. Kingston?" Blaze asked with concern.
Mrs. Kingston had been a dancer in a ballet company but had to retire early due to a back injury. She then married and gave birth to Wyatt Kingston.
But years of dancing inevitably led to chronic injuries. Her back would act up on damp, rainy days, so she rarely went out, preferring to stay home and look after her health.
Mrs. Kingston was surprised to hear Blaze’s words, but more than that, she was touched. ’Even the cold and distant Blaze is learning to care about people,’ she thought. ’His wife must be a very gentle, warm person.’
"Thank you for your concern, Blaze. I’m doing fine. It’s just that rascal, Wyatt. He’s always butting heads with his father, and I’m stuck in the middle. It’s so difficult."
Blaze knew about the Kingstons’ situation. Wyatt’s parents had him late in life, and they desperately wanted their only son to get married, start a family, settle down, and take over the family business while they were still around to see it.
That was why they were forcing Wyatt into blind dates with daughters of influential, high-society families of comparable status.
But their circle was too small. Even if they didn’t hang out often, everyone knew what everyone else was like, so there weren’t many who could actually hit it off.
He didn’t know if Wyatt would get his wish. He had already said his piece; if Wyatt truly liked Attorney Coleman that much, he would have to change.
Blaze comforted Mrs. Kingston, "Mr. Kingston and Wyatt have always been like this. Don’t worry too much. Things will slowly take a turn for the better."
They were both sharp people, so how could Mrs. Kingston not understand what Blaze was implying? "Hearing you say that, Blaze, puts my mind at ease. We’ll give him a few more years. But if he’s still like this when he’s thirty, his father and I will have no choice but to force his hand."
Mrs. Kingston refilled his teacup. "Have something to eat. It must have been a chore bringing Wyatt back."
Mrs. Kingston then asked about Old Master Fairchild’s health before subtly steering the conversation toward Blaze’s new wife.
Seeing the tenderness in his eyes as he spoke of his wife, Mrs. Kingston knew Blaze had married the right person. As an elder, she was truly happy for him.
Blaze didn’t stay long. Soon, he left the Kingston residence with an exquisitely packaged box of pastries.
On his way back, he made a stop at Pinehurst Estate to give his grandfather the flower pastries Mrs. Kingston had given him.
By the time he returned to Lakeside Manor, Luna was already awake and reading downstairs.
Having slept her fill, Luna Axton’s cheeks were rosy. She was curled up in a beanbag chair, and under the glow of the reading lamp beside her, her already fair skin seemed to radiate light, creating a hazy, dreamlike beauty.
A profound warmth spread through his heart.
Perhaps he stared for too long, as Luna Axton noticed his gaze and looked up at him. "You’re back. What was wrong with Mr. Kingston?"
He set the bag in his hands aside and sat down on the floor mat. "He was drunk. I took him home and came straight back."
"Was it really because Lindsey is ignoring him?" She had heard everything clearly from the back seat on the way over.
’But for a man to be so torn up over a woman... it seemed a bit dramatic.’
She had subconsciously assumed that Wyatt Kingston had just used it as an excuse to discuss something with Blaze Fairchild that he didn’t want her to hear.
But now, hearing from Blaze that Wyatt was actually drunk, she found it a bit melodramatic for a man to act that way. Still, if it was Wyatt Kingston, it was somehow understandable.
Wyatt Kingston already looked like a pretty boy; if he put on a long wig and some makeup, he could probably pass for a woman.
So, Luna Axton didn’t find it strange that his personality was a bit more sensitive.
Blaze said, "Yes. He’s in pretty deep."
There was nothing Luna Axton could do.
After seeing off the older generation at the airport, the four of them had eaten together, and Wyatt Kingston had driven Lindsey home.
Some time ago, she had met up with Lindsey, who only said that she had made things clear with Wyatt Kingston and told him to stop bothering her.
Luna Axton didn’t press for details; all she knew was that Lindsey had rejected him.
Blaze saw her starting to zone out again. ’She’s so concerned about other people’s affairs,’ he thought, feeling a little disgruntled. ’Why doesn’t she ever think about me?’
"Mrs. Kingston made some flower pastries. Do you want to try some?" Blaze spoke up to interrupt her, not wanting her to be so preoccupied with others.
Luna Axton remembered making flower pastries by hand with her mother during a trip once. They were fragrant and crispy, sweet and fresh, soft and chewy.
"I’d love some."
Blaze got up, cut the flower pastries into small pieces, and brought them over to her.
As the fragrant, crispy pastry melted in her mouth, Luna Axton suddenly pictured Wyatt Kingston’s pitiful face.
’You can’t just take things from people without doing something in return,’ she thought. Besides, based on what she knew of Lindsey, she felt that Wyatt’s personality was actually a good match for her; they would have fun together.
Lindsey had a carefree, outgoing personality. She loved trying new and exciting things and was especially fond of taking off on spontaneous, unplanned trips whenever the mood struck.
But right now, her time was completely taken up by her position at Evergrow Group and renovating her apartment.
So it was only natural that she wasn’t interested in dating at this stage.
You could only say that Wyatt Kingston had entered Joy Coleman’s life at the wrong time.
’Or maybe... I should ask Lindsey what she’s really thinking?’
’If Lindsey really is just too busy, then they can always revisit the idea later.’
’But if she genuinely doesn’t like him, then it would be better to make Wyatt give up hope for good.’
Luna Axton tentatively asked Blaze, "What if I ask Lindsey to have a meal with me tomorrow? It would be a good chance to give her the soap I made."
She had already given Lindsey the other presents she’d brought back last time they met.
"Wasn’t that soap made for me?" Blaze was not pleased. There were only two bars of soap, and she wanted to give one away.
Luna Axton blinked, her tone coquettish. "Aren’t there two bars? You can’t use them both at once. I’ll make you flower-scented soap later. Didn’t you transplant a lot of flowers at Evergreen Manor? We can use those."
Her voice was so soft and gentle that Blaze couldn’t help but think of their intimacy in the bedroom. How could he possibly say no?
’Besides, seeing the pathetic state Wyatt was in, it was clear he wouldn’t be happy with anyone but Joy Coleman.’
"Then go ahead and ask her, Luna."
Blaze was all for helping set up a couple they both knew so well.
With Blaze’s blessing, Luna Axton picked up her phone and sent a message to Joy Coleman.
"Lindsey, are you going to be at your new place overseeing the renovations tomorrow? The soap I made on my trip arrived, so I’ll drop it off for you."
