When His Nauseous Sweetheart Frowns, the Tycoon's Family Takes Turns Pampering Her-Chapter 13: Investigating Luna Axton’s Family Background
Yvonne Rhodes was lying on a treatment bed at the beauty salon. The aesthetician held a fine needle, injecting a clear solution into her face. A phone rang in the quiet room. "Ma’am, your phone’s ringing. Should I get it?"
"Finish this first," Yvonne Rhodes said through clenched teeth, her voice muffled as she endured the pain. No matter who was calling, nothing could stop her from becoming more beautiful.
It was the end of the year, and Blaze would be attending more and more events. She had to be the one on his arm, outshining everyone else.
Yvonne didn’t answer her phone, but Rosalind Fairchild knew exactly what she was doing. In her spare time, she was either getting beauty treatments or buying beautiful clothes and limited-edition handbags.
She was too furious to go home, and she had to vent this frustration today, or she wouldn’t be able to breathe properly. It felt like something was blocking her airways.
Blaze Fairchild had actually gotten married without a word. And from the sound of her father, he was quite satisfied with this new granddaughter-in-law, Luna Axton.
So what if he’s married? She had plenty of ways to make them divorce. The Fairchild family’s granddaughter-in-law, the wife of Evergrow Group’s president, had to be in her hands, following her orders.
"To the beauty salon." At her words, the driver changed direction.
When Rosalind Fairchild arrived at the salon and asked, she found that Yvonne Rhodes was indeed there.
"Mrs. Jacobs, are you here for a treatment?" The receptionist was sharp. A VIP member like Mrs. Jacobs didn’t need an appointment and always spent a great deal.
Rosalind Fairchild was in a foul mood because things had spiraled out of her control. "The full package. With Yvonne."
"Of course. Please follow me."
The receptionist led her to put her valuables in a safe, and after she changed, knocked directly on the door of Yvonne Rhodes’s room.
Yvonne had already finished her cosmetic injections and was in the middle of another treatment.
"Auntie, what are you doing here?" A smile spread across Yvonne’s face the moment she saw Rosalind Fairchild.
"You didn’t answer your phone."
Afraid her aunt was angry, Yvonne said coaxingly, "I was busy getting pretty. My gorgeous auntie wouldn’t get mad at me for that, would she?"
"Oh, you." Rosalind Fairchild’s gaze fell on Yvonne’s stunning curves. "All you think about day in and day out is getting prettier. You don’t even know that Blaze got married."
"What?!"
Yvonne couldn’t believe what she was hearing. Forgetting about the face mask she was wearing, she sat bolt upright.
"I said, Blaze is married."
Yvonne shook her head. "How is that possible? How could Blaze suddenly get married?"
Rosalind Fairchild froze for a moment. "What happened that night? Didn’t you leave with him? It’s been two months. Hasn’t there been any... reaction from your stomach?"
There were two aestheticians still in the room, but Rosalind Fairchild paid them no mind, asking her questions directly. These people wouldn’t dare be loose-lipped. Otherwise, the wealthy wives could ruin their livelihoods with a single word.
"Auntie..." Yvonne thought of the man’s deep, magnetic, and seductive voice, of the bewitching masculine scent on his body. A sudden heat washed over her, and her tone softened. "Nothing actually happened between us that night."
Hearing her words, Rosalind Fairchild instantly realized something had gone wrong. She had given Blaze Fairchild the most potent, wanton aphrodisiac. It was impossible for him to counteract its effects without being with a woman. "Weren’t you the one who helped him leave?"
"We left together, but when we got to the room, Kyle showed up with some people. A doctor gave him an injection, and after the shot, he drove off by himself."
Thinking back on it now, Yvonne still felt it was a shame. Such a perfect opportunity, ruined by a doctor.
"Then why didn’t you follow him?"
"Auntie, you know President Fairchild’s temper. He told me not to follow, so how could I dare?"
Rosalind Fairchild thought of Luna Axton, and everything became clear.
"Couldn’t you have followed him secretly?" Rosalind Fairchild was about to die from anger. "Because of your thick skull, I ended up paving the way for someone else!"
Hearing her aunt say that, Yvonne understood what must have happened next, even if she didn’t know the details.
There had never been another woman around Blaze. Even when he went on blind dates, it was just a formality. For him to suddenly get married now... something else must have happened that night after Blaze drove off alone.
The person who married Blaze stole her place. She was supposed to be Blaze’s bride!
Yvonne looked at her freshly done nails. They were beautiful, but her good mood had completely vanished.
Blaze Fairchild was married. Who was she making herself beautiful for now? He had a wife now. He wouldn’t need her as his date for all those events anymore.
Rosalind Fairchild saw Yvonne staring blankly at her fingernails. She knew Yvonne all too well.
Yvonne’s parents had divorced, and her mother had dumped her with the Jacobs Family and hadn’t been seen in over a decade. Rosalind was the one who had raised her.
"Yvonne, no one is more suitable for Blaze than you." She couldn’t let Yvonne back down now. Everything belonging to the Fairchild Family had to return to her hands. "The little girl he married is too plain. She has short hair and dresses like a schoolgirl, with no feminine charm at all. Men don’t like that type."
"But, Auntie, she’s married to Blaze! They sleep together, they’ve probably already... done things... and maybe she’s even pregnant! What can I possibly do?"
Yvonne’s face was a mask of despair. Her shoulders slumped in defeat, her life suddenly directionless.
From the first time she saw Blaze at the Fairchild Estate, she had fallen for that man with the wild eyes and intense, controlling aura.
She wished she could transform into a siren, entwining herself around him day and night, driving him mad with desire until he fell crazily in love with her.
She had even fantasized about kissing him passionately in every corner of the Fairchild Estate, entangled with him until the end of time.
That was why she had become the public relations manager at Evergrow Group, who could hold her liquor the best and was the most skilled at flirting with men, all to accompany Ian to various business functions.
"Your job is to stay beautiful, work out, and maintain your figure. Auntie will find opportunities for you. No matter what happens, when it comes to something you’re determined to have, you must have the resolve to wait for it. The same goes for men.
"Don’t wait for him to come to you. You have to take the initiative to get what you want."
Yvonne’s spirits lifted at once, greatly encouraged. That’s right. How could a man as aloof and work-obsessed as Blaze possibly take the initiative?
If she wanted to be with Blaze, she had to be more proactive. There’s a term for it: feigning propriety. If Blaze could stomach that bland, watery soup her aunt described, then he certainly couldn’t resist a dynamic bombshell like her.
A man as outstanding as Blaze... only someone with her beauty and figure standing beside him would create a picture of a perfect couple, a match made in heaven.
"Auntie, you’re the best."
"Cheer up. A long face will give you wrinkles, you know."
Yvonne patted the mask on her face and lay back down. "That body treatment you mentioned earlier? I’ll do it today."
Now that she understood the whole story, Rosalind Fairchild could only focus on how to turn the situation around, since what’s done was done. She sent out a message, ordering someone to investigate Luna Axton’s family background.
For some reason, seeing Luna Axton’s pure, innocent "white flower" appearance always reminded her of that bitch, Adriana Frost.
Adriana Frost... 23 years have passed. I wonder where your bones are now? You deserved to be defiled by filthy men and die unattended in some gutter for trying to steal Russel from me.
The thought of Adriana Frost’s miserable end put Rosalind Fairchild in a great mood.
Luna Axton will be the same. No one can ruin her plans. Otherwise, the penalty is death!
