When His Nauseous Sweetheart Frowns, the Tycoon's Family Takes Turns Pampering Her-Chapter 128: Ms. Brooks’s Divine Assist
Jenna Axton couldn’t believe it. "Mr. Coleman wouldn’t be like that, would he?" she said doubtfully.
They used to meet up on weekends to go shopping, have dessert, and drink coffee. Every time, Mr. Coleman would dutifully stay home, cook dinner, and wait for them to return.
"He doesn’t call, but he always makes me buy him something."
Jenna Axton’s gaze fell on the shopping bags on the adjacent chair, a look of understanding on her face. "No wonder you buy two of everything."
Ms. Brooks nodded. "Cute, isn’t it?"
Jenna Axton understood. ’So this is their version of matching couple’s items.’
’Who would have thought? Even at their age, Ms. Brooks and Mr. Coleman still have these sweet, innocent little gestures.’
’In the past, she had bought things for him, too.’
’The next day, she would always watch him carefully. If he used what she bought, she would be happy for a long time and put even more thought into picking out his next gift.’
"In that case, you have to come with me to the men’s clothing stores later."
"No problem."
Ms. Brooks thought to herself, ’Special Envoy Frost, you can thank me for being the ultimate wingman!’
「Valoria.」
Ever since Luna Axton received the incense from her uncle-in-law, the first thing she did every day after work was go to the reading nook Blaze Fairchild had set up for her, light the incense, and let the fragrance fill the room.
Today was no exception. After lighting the incense, she sank into the beanbag chair, propped her feet on the footstool, and gently tapped her slightly swollen calves with a small massage hammer.
"This book..." Blaze Fairchild held up the book he’d been carrying. "Who gave it to you?"
"Assistant Frost," Luna Axton replied casually.
"Why would he give you a book?" Blaze Fairchild quickly flipped through it. Seeing no little cards or notes tucked inside, he relaxed and set it aside.
His subconscious action betrayed him. ’Wait, Ethan is her cousin! What am I even thinking?’
Blaze Fairchild shook his head, trying to banish the ridiculous thoughts.
"I’m going to take a shower." After sitting in an office all day, he wanted to change into something more comfortable.
"Okay," Luna Axton replied, then picked up *Song Banquet* from the little table and began to flip through it.
Mrs. Creed was running out of new dishes to make and would occasionally ask Luna what she was in the mood for. So, Luna had bought this cookbook; whenever she saw an appetizing recipe, she would show it to Mrs. Creed.
Life went on, simple and serene.
That evening, Luna Axton received a message from her mother.
"I’ve cleaned out your old room and moved into it. He’s staying in my old room."
’He?’
For a moment, Luna Axton didn’t understand.
Then she suddenly remembered what May Ford had said: Russell Frost had gone to Kensing on New Year’s Day.
Both she and her mother had been featured in news interviews in Kensing City. In fact, four years ago, after her college entrance exam scores were released, the Kensing Education Channel had done an exclusive interview with her.
’It would have been incredibly easy for Russell Frost to find information about her mother.’
Now that they were living together, Luna hoped her mother could finally relax and be happy, instead of always being so tense.
Luna Axton: [Mom, trust your heart.]
Her screen remained on the chat window for a long time. After a moment’s thought, she typed another line.
[Mom, I’ll support whatever decision you make, just like you’ve always supported me.]
Mom: [Okay!]
Even from that single word and exclamation point, Luna could feel that her mother was also trying to cheer herself on.
She didn’t know much about the world of politics, but from what had happened with Rosalind Fairchild and Miles Jacobs, she had a glimpse of how complicated it could be.
For Russell Frost to have reached his current position, he must have put in an immense amount of effort, appeased countless influential people, and endured far more unsavory dealings than she could ever imagine.
His rivals were watching him, just waiting for him to make a mistake so they could drag him down—ideally, to a point where, like Miles Jacobs, he could never recover.
’Her mother hadn’t just messaged to say Russell Frost was staying with her. She’d messaged because after taking that first step, she was terrified of jeopardizing his future. She was wavering and needed someone to talk to.’
’Luna had witnessed her mother’s years of hardship and silent endurance. Her mother wasn’t as strong as she pretended to be; she also needed to be cared for, loved, and protected.’
Since marrying Blaze Fairchild, she had come to understand that there were some things that no one else could provide.
For instance, ever since she married Blaze, as long as he was by her side, she always felt warm and slept soundly.
When Blaze Fairchild came upstairs with a glass of warm water, he found her sitting frozen on the bed, staring at her phone with a grave expression.
"What’s wrong?"
Luna Axton looked up. "My uncle-in-law has moved in with my mom."
A flicker of light crossed Blaze Fairchild’s dark eyes, and a sense of admiration washed over him. ’Wow, Uncle moves fast!’
His gaze fell on Luna’s fair face. ’Luna is still so young,’ he thought. ’I can’t be too aggressive, or she won’t be able to handle it.’
At this thought, a small smile touched Blaze Fairchild’s lips as he comforted Luna. "Let the adults handle their own affairs. The most important thing is for you to take care of yourself and be happy."
"Mm," Luna Axton agreed, taking the prenatal supplements with the warm water Blaze had brought her.
’Only time would tell,’ she thought. ’All I can do is wait.’
The Spring Festival holiday ended. With Blaze back at work and Luna back at school, time flew by.
The next time Luna Axton received a message from her mother, it was already late March.
From the second-floor window of Lakeside Manor, the distant mountains were draped in pink, covered in a sea of peach blossoms.
Luna Axton had just returned from a prenatal check-up with Blaze. Exhausted from the morning, she was ready for a nap.
The text on her phone made her temples throb. Setting the phone down, Luna Axton felt a wave of relief and was overjoyed for her mother.
On the chat screen, Jenna Axton’s message read: Sweetheart, we’ve decided to be together.
Luna wondered, ’Does that mean they’re officially dating, or did they get married?’
"I’ll head over and see what’s going on. I’ll be back soon, before dinner," Blaze Fairchild said, buttoning his shirt as he walked out of the closet.
He still had three buttons to go, offering a glimpse of his toned chest. A purplish-red mark on his collarbone stood out starkly against his pale skin.
Remembering their passion from the day before, Luna Axton lowered her head, not daring to keep staring at him.
"Weren’t you sleepy?" Blaze Fairchild asked. "Why are you still sitting up?"
"My mom just sent me a message," Luna said, trying to burrow under the covers to avoid his gaze.
"What did she say?"
"She and my uncle-in-law are together."
"That’s a good thing."
As Blaze spoke, Luna felt the bed dip behind her.
A moment later, his cool lips brushed against her forehead. "Are you unhappy? Or just worried about something?"
"She didn’t give any details. She’s probably worried about how it might affect my uncle-in-law’s career."
Blaze Fairchild gently smoothed the wisps of hair from her forehead. Her hair had grown out, long, dark, and lustrous, making her skin seem even fairer. Her full, pink lips looked so moist and inviting, always tempting him to taste their sweetness.
"My uncle is very professional; he keeps his work and private life separate. To become the Special Envoy to Kamaria, his capabilities can’t be underestimated. Very few people can touch him."
Blaze’s gaze on her lips was so searing it felt as if he would kiss her at any second.
As he stared at her like that, Luna’s heart clenched with nervousness, and her pulse quickened.
