Chapter 133: Welcome To The Corleone Fortress!

Back downstairs, Vera and Vale were still huddled on the couch, brainstorming how to approach the collab issue.

"Okay, so first things first," Vera said, setting her phone down. "We need to talk to Elias tomorrow morning. We’ll have to make it sound fun and exciting. Tell him how much the fans loved him in the video."

Vale nodded, though her expression was sceptical. "Yeah, but we have to be honest about the location. The Corleone palace—that’s not just any house. Do you think Elias must have heard of them? I’m sure everyone has, except him. Lila mentioned he wasn’t interested in anything happening in the world. And if perhaps he agrees, then we’ll hit Viktor with it."

"We keep thinking positively. You remember Elias didn’t want to show up on our video. What if he rejects it..." Vera asked.

"Oh no no no! We’re not thinking negatively. Positive always. Let’s hope and pray that he agrees. So, the next one on our list..."

They spent the next half hour chatting about details... what recipes they could do for the collab, how to pack their equipment, even outfit ideas to match the Glamour Girls’ style. "We can’t look out of place in that mansion," Vera laughed. "We’ve gotta bring our A-game."

Upstairs, Viktor had retreated to his own room, shedding his tie and unbuttoning his shirt. He poured himself a glass of water from the pitcher on the dresser, sipping it slowly as he replayed the day’s events. The interrogation, the dead man, and Camilla’s threat loomed. And now this Corleone thing with his sisters. He trusted them, but the name stirred old instincts.

"Since it has nothing to do with me, I’d better stay out of it," he told himself. But worry gnawed at him.

He personally hasn’t spent time with any of the Corleones, but from what he learnt from his father, they are dangerous. They are always quiet but once it’s time for them to strike, no one would see them coming.

The next morning was cold with sunlight filtering through the curtains in the safe house. The kitchen smelled of fresh coffee and toast as Vale bustled around, preparing breakfast for everyone. The twins were up early, chattering at the table about their dreams...something about flying cars and superheroes.

"The car exploded after I threw it at the last villain... And then I saved the day!" one exclaimed, waving his spoon.

Viktor came down first, dressed in a casual sweater and jeans, looking more relaxed than the night before. He ruffled the twins’ hair, sitting down with a mug of coffee. "Morning, everyone."

Elias followed shortly after, yawning as he entered. He hadn’t slept well after Nathan’s message, his mind buzzing with questions. But he put on a smile for the kids after they waved their hands.

"Nanny!!!" They yelled.

"Did you sleep well?" He asked them and they nodded.

"That’s good. It smells really good in here."

"Aunty Vale is preparing breakfast for us," Dante pointed with his spoon.

Elias peeped into the kitchen and smiled.

"What about Lila? Is she still asleep?"

The twins nodded and Elias chose not to disturb her.

Vera, who had stayed over, exchanged a glance with Vale. This was their chance. After breakfast, as the twins ran off to play, Elias stood up, wanting to go check on his sister but he stopped when Vera cleared her throat.

"Elias, can we talk to you about something?"

Elias looked up from the table, curious. "Uh... Sure, what’s up?"

Vale jumped in. "So, our channel got a collab request from the Glamour Girls. You might not know them. But they are Sofia and Bianca Corleone. They’re big on social media, lifestyle and stuff. They want to do a cooking video with us in two days. No, I mean, less than two days."

Elias raised an eyebrow. "Corleone? It sounds like a really powerful family. That’s... exciting. Congratulations."

Vera nodded enthusiastically. "It is! And, um, they specifically asked if you could come too. You were a hit in our last video... the male chef everyone’s talking about."

Elias chuckled, a bit embarrassed.

"Me? Really? I mean, I had fun, but I’m not a pro."

"Please?" Vale pleaded, clasping her hands. "It would make the video so much better. And it’s just one day... in and out. We won’t waste much of your time, we swear."

Elias thought about it, glancing at Viktor, who was listening quietly.

"I don’t know... with everything going on, is it safe?"

Viktor set his mug down, his face neutral but his mind racing.

"Corleone palace? Absolutely not. It’s too risky."

Vera groaned. "Come on, Viktor. It’s a video shoot, not a business deal. Security will be tight there anyway. You know how powerful they are." 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

"Vera is right. It’s even safer there than here."

"If they go after Elias while he’s at the Corleone house, what do you think might happen? We could drag them into a war they have no business in and both parties would be affected."

Vera and Vale exchanged glances, but they still didn’t give up. The conversation stretched on, back and forth. Viktor argued about potential dangers, the family’s reputation.

"You don’t know what strings they might pull. I already told you that family is dangerous."

"But think about the opportunity," Vera countered. "For our channel, for us as a family. Elias would be with us the whole time. We won’t let him out of our sight."

Elias chimed in. "If it’s that important, maybe we can make it work. I trust you guys."

Viktor sighed, rubbing his forehead. "I’ll think about it. But no promises."

The sisters high-fived subtly, hopeful. The day passed with more discussions, the twins oblivious, playing games. Elias, still thinking about Nathan’s message, is debating whether to tell Viktor. But he held back, not wanting to add more stress.

That evening, as everyone gathered for dinner... simple pasta and salad... the topic came up again. "Okay," Viktor said finally. "If Elias wants to go, and you promise to stick together, fine. But I’m sending extra security."

Vera and Vale cheered, hugging Elias. "You’re the best!"

"Why is he the best? Aren’t you two supposed to be hugging me?"

"Oh! Someone’s jealous, Vale," Vera touched her cheek with her finger. "What should we do?"

"Since he wants a simple hug. Let’s give it to him," Vale said, and they both rushed to Viktor to hug him, but he sent them away, saying something about hygiene.

Elias laughed, seeing how close the siblings were. He stared at Lila, who was also watching them while munching on her pasta and wiping the twins’ mouths.

The next day was a flurry of preparations. Vera and Vale packed cameras, ingredients, and aprons. They were chatting excitedly about recipes... maybe a fusion dish to impress the Corleones.

"What do you think about that recipe? Something Italian, to fit the vibe," Vale suggested.

Elias was watching as the guards helped the ladies with their packing. Though, he was distracted. He kept staring at Viktor who was close to him, thinking if it was the perfect chance. After much thought and biting lips, he finally confided in Viktor during a quiet moment.

"So... Nathan messaged me about something weird."

"Weird? What was it about?" He asked, goldi g his hands.

"It’s about my parents."

Viktor’s eyes darkened as he clenched his fist. "What did he say?"

"Oh... he said that he knows the truth about their death. That it wasn’t an accident."

Viktor pulled him into a hug.

"Don’t let him get to you. He’s probably lying to manipulate you. But if you want, I’ll look into it."

"You would?" He asked and broke the hug.

"Of course, I will. So don’t listen to Nathan Caldwell or reply to any of his messages."

Elias nodded, feeling a bit better. But the doubt still lingered.

As the collab day approached, tension mixed with excitement. The safe house buzzed with activity, everyone preparing. Vera called the Glamour Girls to confirm details, the conversation was polite but brief. "Yes, we’ll be there at 10 AM."

Finally, the morning arrived. They loaded into the car, Elias sandwiched between the sisters, the twins and Lila staying home with a sitter. Viktor saw them off, worry etched on his face.

"Make sure to call me if anything feels off."

"Sure, I will."

The drive to the Corleone palace was long, through winding roads lined with trees. As they approached the gates, awe set in... the massive estate loomed, guards checking IDs. Inside, Sofia and Bianca greeted them with smiles that didn’t quite reach their eyes.

"Oh my! Welcome! Let’s make this fun." Sofia said, pressing her hands together.

"You look so pretty in real life. Is that your natural hair?" Bianca tinted her head as she asked.

"Ha! It’s our natural hair, thank you..." Vale also faked a smile, clasping her hands together.

"Let’s also have lots of fun together..." Vera added.

Bianca suddenly looked past them and saw Elias who was standing behind. She ignored the twins and walked towards Elias, stretching her hands towards him.

"Hello! You must be the male chef. You got pretty popular after one video. Welcome to the Corleone fortress."

Elias lowered his head in respect just so he won’t do anything wrong. His hands trembled as he shook Bianca’s hand.

"It’s nice to... meet you."
